MANKATO, Minn. - Minnesota Vikings quarterback Tarvaris Jackson left the field on Saturday morning with an apparent leg injury.

Jackson was injured during a team scrimmage when defensive lineman LeTroy Guion fell at his feet and rolled over his leg. Jackson crumbled to the field in pain as trainers rushed to his side. After a few minutes, he was able to get up and walk off under his own power.

There was no immediate word on the nature of his injury.

Jackson is in a battle with Sage Rosenfels for the starting quarterback position after Brett Favre decided not to come out of retirement and join the Vikings.

not good, hopefully it's not serious. If it is, wonder if Vick becomes more appealing. Didn't Mora & Knapp use West Coast terminology for the offense they ran in ATL?

Yes, the Atlanta offense was a West Coast style offense. Most people felt like Vick was utilized better under the Dan Reeves offense than the Mora/Knapp offense.Point to his 2002 season where he had career high in passing yardage at 2900, 16 TD's, career low in INT's with 8. 777 Yards Rushing and 8 Rushing TD's. In 02' they went 9-6 while defeating the Pack in GB in the first round of the playoffs and followed that up with a loss to Philly in the next round.

right, but at least he would be familiar with the terminology. Could he operate the offense as well as Rosenfels? I'd like to see some competition to find out (assuming Tarvaris is gonna be out, which I hope he isn't)

do you guys think AP has more value with JACKSON at QB or ROSENFELS? would this raise or lower APs stock if the injury is bad?

grade 1 spain mcl

According to Profootballtalk.com, Tarvaris Jackson underwent an MRI that determined his knee injury to be a sprained MCL.

It's believed to be a Grade 1 sprain, which could leave Jackson as day-to-day. If it turns out to be a more serious sprain, Jackson would miss multiple weeks -- putting Sage Rosenfels at the helm of the offense by default. NFL insider Adam Schefter doesn't expect Michael Vick to be an option regardless. And it's too early for Brett Favre's entrance music.

Bernard Berrian just tweeted that Jackson is out for the year?!?!
The plot thickens. :P
from his twitter:Ok folks jokes over. T-Jack is fine. But, lesson learned here. DON'T BELIEVE EVERYTHING U SEE IN THE MEDIA!! Yes, twitter is media!!
Kind of a douchey move by Berrian. Perhaps he should focus on learning to go over the middle rather than teaching the fans morals and lessons about media reliability.

:goodposting: Agree. A very bad joke at the least, he'll feel like a loser if that knee swells up like a pumpkin and they find additional damage to Jackson's knee in the coming days. Knee injuries are difficult to asess accurately when the asessments are being done in close proximity to the time that the injury is incurred.

The first thing that crossed my mind is T Jackson is taking a dive for the team. (Favre) I guess I've seen to many boxing stories....

It has to Rosenfels just for the fact that everyone already knows how bad Tarvaris has been. Jackson has not shown any ability to read defenses and go through his WR progressions. Unless the light bulb has magically come on this off season it will be a long season in MN if T-Jack gets the starting job.

I disagree. I think it was a pretty good joke. People who hang on every tweet make me laugh and deserve to have their balls busted here and there. Good for Bernard!
