Colleague Matt Mosley is driving right now and can't type. But he just called me with a tip from one of his Cowboys sources. Dallas suddenly is showing interest in running back Tatum Bell.

He's not the biggest name out there, only rushing for 182 yards with Detroit last season. But Bell, who was begging for a trade out of Detroit midway through last season, could be a nice fit as a backup running back. He was a 1,000-yard rusher for Denver in 2006. He's also a Dallas native and, at 26, he still has fresh legs.

Would he keep them from drafting Felix Jones or making a "run" at DMC?

This makes a lot of sense, actually. I think Barber is too good to bring in another high-priced / high profile back. I just can't see them drafting McFadden (etc) - would seem like a waste. But Bell gives them that quick, home run threat, and is probably pretty cheap, too.

The cowboys need RBs number 2 and 3, so I argue no. At best will keep them from "reaching" the cover the position.

It makes no sense because the guy is a bum. Dallas does not need Tatum Bell under any circumstance.

Tatum is a girl's name, or a pet's name, or a last name. No self-respecting man, let alone macho football player, should walk the earth tolerating the name "Tatum." He deserves to be a colossal bust. :lmao:

but it would provide a whole season of comments about this all being a ploy to motivate TO or Jessica Simpson or Jerry Jones' plastic surgeon, etc...

I think I should trademark the whole "ploy to motivate Jessica Simpson" thing just in case...
