TE Brock Bowers, LV (1 Viewer)

I think one of the issues with Bowers past the knee is just how bad Geno has been. I know you can apply logic that when Bowers is fully healthy, that's a different dynamic for the offense.

But I'm simply unsure that 'this' is what is killing Geno.

I'm just waiting on the news he's been placed on IR. But knowing the Raiders, they'll keep rolling him out there as a decoy for another few weeks, so by the time they DO decide to shut him down...it will be the fantasy playoffs. Wait for it. :ROFLMAO:

I could see it, knowing the Raiders they totally messed this up. My Gut tells me they sit him this week because its the Titans so he's healthy for the Chiefs

Well, not like they are a lock over the Titans. Pete needs a win. If they lose to the Titans, big moral problems. Bowers plays if he’s able, even if not 100 percent.

And therein lies the problem. He's not 100%, it's the knee, and he'll basically just be a decoy and not get any passes. They roll him out there and risk the knee getting worse. If a couple weeks rest is all it needs, then that should be what they give him to keep the knee healthy for the long run (future years, not this year...it's over for the Raiders). They're gonna cause the knee to get worse and WILL have to put him on IR. The incompetence is rampant with that franchise.

They should have done it weeks ago, but not expecting it now.

Would keep him out till week 11. Now I can't say they won't do it, because per Dr. Chao last week if he has a bone bruise he should be sitting out multiple weeks.

But the bye week in 8 would in theory allow them to hold him about a month in total and return in week 9.

When he was first injured, you mentioned that a PCL sprain is a 4-6 week injury and would typically require an IR stint. Given that he was playing on it and had a setback in week 4, returning in that 9-11 timeframe makes sense.

I’m rolling with Mayer this week. He should play in 11 and 12 personnel + all downs, as he’s a trusted run blocker. So the snaps and routes run should be there. I think he’s a sneaky pickup while Bowers is out.

Looking like a decent stopgap until Bowers is back. PCLs are usually 4-6 week injuries and he had a setback in week 4. So, even with the week 8 bye, it’s certainly possible that Bowers misses more than one more game.

It looked like the Raiders would play it safe and hold Bowers out of practice until after the bye week, but the tight end was seen on the field during Friday’s practice. Notably, he was no longer wearing a knee brace.
While the bye week would give Bowers a chance to get close to 100%, Las Vegas might want to have its best offensive player for such an important game. Carroll wouldn’t say whether or not he was going to play on Sunday, but he did give an update.

“We’re really close with him,” Carroll told reporters on Friday.

Seems like Carroll has been using the magic 8-ball to determine his weekly participation. Raiders have nothing to play for, make sure he is healed please.

Raiders have nothing to play for, make sure he is healed please

100% with you on the latter thought, but the Raiders have their entire season on the line this weekend. Win and they are suddenly 3-4 with a key victory against a divisional boogeyman. Lose and they are 2-5 and completely hopeless. I know, I know, it's most probably hopeless already, but they definitely have something to play for this weekend - any last semblance of hope for the 2025 season. That is probably why Brock practiced today and will IMO likely play this weekend, healthy or not.

And my honest apologies for saying they have nothing to play for, that is obviously an overstatement. However, in that division it would be an uphill battle. I am just a new first-time frustrated member of drafting a TE early and watching them shove him on the field when not ready. Wish you guys the best and think you have some nice building blocks going forward.

Trust... If it were my choice, Brock would be sitting until he is at proper/safe health for whatever is ailing him.

I am just trying to explain how the Raiders could be/are logical looking at this. And by the Raiders, I mean Carroll, coaching staff and locker room, unless overridden by management/and or medical advisors. You and I are aligned in wanting to prioritize longterm Bald Bowser over the 2025 Raiders middling-at-best season.
