TE Dalton Kincaid, BUF (1 Viewer)

I was in two leagues last year. I took him in the 4th round in both leagues. I was convinced of his greatness. This is just a slap in my face at this point. Smh

The # of snaps Knox gets over Kincaid sure is annoying. Obviously Knox is a >> blocker but man Kincaid hardly sees the field.
I'd be trying to trade him in hopes of capitalizing on the box score. People who own and start him got lucky to get what we did.

This is actually going downhill and will be a lot worse then even last year, at least before he hurt his knee last year.

In a perfect game script where he made good plays he still only played 49% of the snaps(Knox was 58%) and the bigger negative was only a 60% route participation share.

They can't be obvious and only have him in on downs they intend to pass but it was jarring to not see him in the game on some obvious passing downs. Recall at least one third and 10 and another third and 5 when Knox was the only TE. This was not the case last year, he was almost always running routes in obvious passing situations.

Last thing is that time frame his rookie season when he was really smoking and got a lot of us amped up was because Knox was out. Now he can't even get back to that if Knox got injured or left after FA this season because they got another TE in Jackson Hawes who they have said is the best blocking TE they've ever seen so if something happened to Knox he'd just eat up all those snaps, most would be running downs but again not all because you can't be that predictable.

He's talented, I don't think anyone who thought that about him coming into the league was wrong but he's not a great blocker and those kind's of TE's don't work for every team or system. Whatever plans they envisioned for him when they drafted him went out the window when they promoted Joe Brady for the job.

Hoping for another "big" week out of Kincaid then would love to ship him out and sell high. I don't fully trust his role all year.
Knox limited. Needs to be watched. If he's out, that carves out a whole lot more for Kincaid.
I am starting Kraft tonight, but would really love to roster Kincaid and Kraft. They really feel like a pair that one is destined to pop. And if both pop you have a flex.

But I just can’t seem to enjoy the idea of rostering two tight ends. And I’m starting Kraft tonight which makes it harder.

I have both … in a free league with FFA folks. But I also have Lamb/Egbuka/Coleman and we only have two WR spots, so I need the flex for the third.

It's a shame he splits so much time with Knox because on paper the best receiving TE on the Bills roster paired with Josh Allen should thrive.
I hear ya and I'm big on Kincaid still - might just take some time, but Knox is also a very good TE. Knox does everything well, including blocking which is why he gets a bit more than half the snaps.

I am debating on trying to buy Kincaid in a few dynasty/keeper spots but it could be a while.

Ruh oh. Is this FINALLY happening? There were reasons to be optimistic this year. I'd love to see an 8/135/2 line :pickle:

Edit - Jinxed!

5 redzone targets in 3 games. At least one RZ target in each game. Came into this season with 19 redzone targets in 27 career games. Averaging 9.4 yards per target so far whereas his career average coming in was 6.8.

Feels like I may have dropped him too early. I was in a pinch with Daniels getting hurt and had to drop Kincaid for Danny Dimes.

I might have to try and sneak Dalton back on my roster in case he truly has broken out. He looked good and was inches away from a 2nd TD last night.

I wouldn’t go too overboard on Kincaid. Yes he had a nice game but don’t think you can rely on him for any kind of consistency. Allen likes spreading the ball around and they are often not a pass heavy team due to game scripts.

ETA: that said, the TE landscape is largely a wasteland outside of the big guns, so you could do worse.

I hear what you’re saying but he’s actually been very consistent so far. At least 4 catches every week (4, 4, 5) for between 37 and 66 yards (48, 37, 66). It’s not explosive but he’s on a ~70 rec. 800+ yard pace.
Fair point - consistency is probably a misstatement on my part. Probably more along the lines of higher end production at the position given what we thought about him coming into the league.

The dude was *this close* to three TDs last night.

3 actually.

VERY close. I think he's going to have a very good year. So far he and Juwan have to be the biggest steals at TE based on ADP

Of course he does this after I drop him- but I don't want to carry 2 TEs, and I've been burned before. I think this is going to be another year where every option in this passing game will have their big boom weeks and otherwise settle for OK production. I'll let my league mates spend big FAAB on him this time, but I'll keep them honest with a bid just in case.

Same, I need to learn to be less trigger happy on transactions.

So what are we thinking on Kincaid fellas. Do I fall for the trap again and bid big as Fannin is too scary to rely on week to week? Josh seems to be looking his way more.

He's going to finish the year somewhere between TE4 and TE8, all depending on TDs. Set it and forget it. He's not going to get 10 targets a game like McBride, and he doesn't have the elite YAC like Kittle (and hopefully Kraft) but he should continue to get 5 or 6 targets every game with a great chance at one or two of them being in the end zone.

He's actually getting less snaps, running less routes and getting less targets per game then any of his previous two seasons.

Fearing that I'll be looking at this point as a great time to get out if I'm honest. I offered him to multiple teams asking for him prior to the start of the season for their 2nd and was turned down. Kraft, Fannin, and Goedert on roster definitely makes what he brings to the table feel somewhat redundant.

I don't think he's in the process of becoming the target hog I dreamed of when I drafted him. That said, I had zero optimism for him coming into the year and it has been a pleasant surprise. Don't think I can trade him for a generic late 2nd in '26. Better to just hang on to another TE depth option and see if Allen can learn to love him.

I have Kincade and Fannin. Dalton is starting until he gives me a reason not to.
I had Kincaid, picked up Fannin week 2, dropped Kincaid last week due to needing a QB w/ Daniels hurt, now I am likely bidding against everyone to get Dalton back.

Such a mess.

I wish I did that. I ****ed up and just started my backup qb (Penix) and lost because I didn't want to drop anyone. Any of the three WW qbs I was looking would have won it for me.

Lol.

We may have the same team where I have Kittle.

See Kincaid, Andrews, Strange all in waivers too. Kincaid MAY be emerging as a stable threat. Maybe.

That said, Fannin would appear to have a juicy matchup against a DET D that brought M. Andrews back from the dead.

My big takeaway is that I’m drafting TE LAST unless I draft an elite option. I think Kincaid will probably continue to exist int he boom/bust miasma of TE hell, squeezing out top 10 overall numbers but without the consistency, but I think like Mark Andrews we can kinda expect it to be feast or famine. I'm glad he's producing on his 50% snap share but would it kill the Bills to use him like a star asset?

Averaging 11.95 yards per target, 83% catch rate.

On pace for 975 yards and 10 TD's.

Just wish they needed him more because he's getting that production only running about a 60% route clip on 4.8 targets a game.

I wish people would quit calling him overrated and/or questioning his talent, thinking he was a product of hype. He's every bit the player I thought he could be entering the league.

The usage is still a drag, doubt it's going to change, but that's out of his control. If they needed him to function like a McBride in their offense he could.

I'm thinking he's finally arrived
Sometimes young players just need time - especially if they are dealing with injuries (as they lose valuable practice and game reps).
He was my TE target in the draft this season, so I'm doing a little bit of a victory lap. I love the Allen/Kincaid stack so far.
I was always a fan but I tried to be realistic. BUF spreads the ball around and they still had a very good TE in Knox. Kincaid is still only playing like 50% of the snaps so we still need to be mindful he isn't out there all the time. When he is he is getting targets so that is good but they split the TEs, especially since Knox is a good blocker and does well catching too.

Anyways - there could be some more quiet games ahead and some bumps in the road. He could post a dud but that doesn't mean he isn't good.

I think he still has lots to work on and improve and he could be a longer term dynasty play.

20 catches on only 24 targets. Over 14 yards per catch. 3 TDs. Get this man the ball more!

I almost would rather him not being out there on more snaps blocking and wearing himself out. Let the other two studs do their thing.

He looked to be moving really well last night. A lot better than I can remember last year.

NE CBs are pretty damn good, but I'm hoping this isn't just matchup related.

He's come in handy with Kittle down. May have to hang on if he's truly breaking out.
