TE Greg Dulcich, NYG (2 Viewers)

Dulcich's upside is capped because of his blocking. He's terrible. I was pretty high on him coming out and liked what I heard from Payton about the Joker role in the offseason last year, but Dulcich's ceiling has taken a dive.

Kincaid is in a similar situation, although, Knox is a much better player than Trautman. I've always been leery of poor blockers at the TE position, but with the resurgence of the running game in the NFL, the F-type TEs could see their roles lessoned.

Make or break year for Dulcich.
IMO the blocking was the reason Dulcich's snaps were significantly reduced from Wk 2 to Wk 3. Not the Wk 2 drops.

Denver came out much more aggressive with Nix downfield passing (requiring more pocket time). They also needed (and still need) to get the run game going.
Can I trade him for a 2025 3rd round rookie pick to another dynasty league? Because my league isn’t interested.
The TE position is trash right now so Dulcich probably deserves a roster spot, but I don’t think you’re getting a 3rd unless he shows some signs of life.

I thought he sucked when the TE position wasn’t trash.

If Dulcich flames out I'd keep backup TE Lucas Krull on your radar. Payton loves him and he has similar traits as Dulcich. Dulcich is getting first crack, but like the DEN RB situation if in a few games things don't improve there could be a shakeup.

Lol.

Why do you own him?

Perhaps fading all Denver TEs is the right play. When was the last relevant Denver TE? Julius Thomas? I don’t count Fant and his 600 yards and four TDs. He never seemed relevant to me for some reason.

I’m about not to.

A blast from the past. One of my better 4th round rookie picks. Orange Julius really helped me for a few seasons.

Massive disappointment. He's finally healthy and now he can't catch? Some guys just don't have what it takes on Sundays. I was a Dulcich truther, but it's probably time to move on.

Officially cut today by the Broncos

Not great when you can't climb past Adam Trautman, Lucas Krull and Nate Adkins on the depth chart

Only time will tell if Payton was correct in his evaluation (ala Albert O.) or whether it simply wasn't a good fit

Very surprising that he didn’t fit in with Payton. Jimmy Graham couldn’t block either. Definitely talent here and excited to see where he lands. Should return to being a fantasy asset next season.

Not for lack of trying. Payton saw talent, talked him up and gave him ample opportunity. I really liked the guy and thought he was in for a huge year but he failed in every way possible. He never seemed to be in the right place and couldn't catch a cold. Who knows what happened here, but something seemed off this year. If Payton can't unlock a limited but promising player like this, I'm not sure who can?

Andy is one of the greatest football minds of all time, but I'm not sure I would say he's even been above average in elevating limited yet gifted players. See Skyy Moore, Kadarius Toney, MVS, Mecole Hardman, and the list goes on. The players he's had success with have proven to be elite football talents with great intelligence. I don't think Dulcich is either one of those. Sean Payton was probably Dulcich's best chance for success in this league. Devaugn Vele became what I thought Dulcich would in this offense. Dulcich can't block and he's basically a huge slot WR with above average speed that forgot how to catch somewhere along the way. I fear his time in this league is about finished.

Word from beat reporters is that when Dulcich changed his gait to rectify hamstring issues he lost his explosiveness.

So when a TE no longer has elite speed, can't block, doesn't play special teams and has issues with drops...it's likely to be an uphill slog from here

Picked up by the Giants. Interesting spot. Good bit of opportunity. Theo Johnson is the only real competition.

And we know if Theo is playing, him and Dulcich pretty much play the same game, he probably won't be asked to block much, which works in his favor.

Let's see what happens. He has just next year left on his rookie contract, so hopefully he can work his way to the starting lineup and then ball out for a new deal.

@Faust for title update ;(

No qb, talent is in doubt, no thanks.

Theo Johnson potential season ending foot injury

Well, well, well.....look where a starting spot may have conveniently opened up.

Hopefully they can get him in there for like...50% of the snaps. Just have him run some routes.
I thought Johnson was very impressive in yards after contact in yesterday’s game. He laid the wood to defenders after the catch. I wouldn’t get too excited about anyone on that roster replacing him. See you next year Theo, heal up.

They need to give Dulcich a lot of playing time. Season is in garbage - evaluate players rest of season to see if they can contribute next year. I was always impressed with Dulcich as a receiver, but the guy doesn’t block at all

What’s his career drop percentage?

Watching him this year, blocking wasn't his problem, or at least it wasn't the reason he stopped playing in Denver. He seemed confused, slow and had hands of stone from the jump in 2024. Something changed with him. Some say it's that he changed how he runs. I don't buy that.
