TE Kyle Pitts, ATL (2 Viewers)

Someone tell me why this guy doesn't get a single preseason snap through 2 games. Is he that much of a sure thing and so valuable as to not risk a few live snaps?

Why doesn't Kyle Pitts play in the preseason?

This question reminds me of this hottie I dated for a bit. Someone asked her once if she had any tattoos, and her response was, "You don't put a bumper sticker on a Bentley..."

That's why Kyle Pitts isn't playing in the preseason.

ESPN's Michael Rothstein reports the Falcons will use TE Kyle Pitts "all over the formation to try to find exploitable matchups."

Atlanta beat writers have said for weeks that head coach Arthur Smith and his staff have worked closely with Pitts on offensive packages designed to put the electric rookie one on one with outmatched defenders, especially near the end zone. Far from a traditional rookie tight end who needs time to acclimate to the pros, Pitts will likely be used as more of a wideout, as he was during his dominant collegiate career. Smith said Pitts -- who has yet to take a preseason snap -- is "right on schedule" in learning the offense and his prominent place in it. Fantasy managers should pounce on Pitts if he falls below his fourth round ADP in 12-team formats.

this offense has looked FAR worse than the Jags offense thus far in preseason, and everyone has been dumping on Meyer and Co. but to think Arthur Smith is going to turn things around in Atl, after what we've seen in preseason, is wishful thinking.

Pitts will be lucky to catch 50 balls. the last decent performance by a rookie TE was Engram, and  J. Shockey before that.

I'll bet Freiermuth has more recs than Pitts this season.

They haven’t played any starters.

cmon man. You’re really going out of your way to trash something you haven’t actually seen.

Are you seriously going to argue that Matt Ryan, Calvin Ridley, Gauge & Pitts will look worse in real game action than what we’ve seen from Lawrence?

Thats just silly.

If I miss him; I have him in dynasty.
Yeah and I am looking forward to that. Drafting at noon and he's gonna be the 1.1 then BPA at 1.4. so excited for this guy.

ALL IN

Took him 37th overall in a 16 team TE premium league as TE3 last night, ahead of Hock.   He may have gotten back to me, but I didn't want to chance it.    I may live to regret it, but I am a believer in the talent and hoping we get 70 percent of a semi premium Julio, we'll be off to the races.  I reached but I'm just excited to watch him.

The  pre-NFL analysis is over for Pitts.  Nothing more to analyze before his first game.  It's time to watch.  I'm excited about switching to the Red Zone channel to watch him.  I'm more excited this year, with the exception of Jonathan Taylor last year, to watch some of these rookies in action.  Most will probably disappoint like they usually do, but nevertheless, it's easy to get excited about the unknown.

He got snipped from me in my second league by someone who was also in my first league.
I used to play in a D/ST redraft where 3 guys were in my IDP league.

Foe 3 years we drafted one on Sat, then the other on Sun.

Talk about brutal. Any sleepers I had were rooned for the Sunday draft. Snipe city.

You keep thinking of Pitts as a TE. He's more of a WR. He runs like a WR. He gets off the line like a WR. He'll be option 1/2 for a team with one of the worst defenses in football.

If Arthur Smith truly is the offensive genius that people think he is what with Sean McVay being tempted to steal his plays, he'll utilize the better version of Darren Waller even in his rookie season.

I haven't heard a credible argument for a healthy Pitts getting less than 120 targets (from Matt Ryan). Ridley will eat but they drafted Pitts to be a primary weapon.

Taken before any defensive player or nonQB means there is no rookie TE comp. It is Pitts and arguably Mike Ditka.

Right after the NFL draft, a couple of the guys on the NFL networks panel compared him to Calvin Johnson.

IIRC Megatron‘s rookie year was around 70 catches for ~800 with 6 touchdowns?

that would not be terrible.

I can have better production than that from Logan Thomas 3 rounds later

Maybe. Maybe not. Nothing’s guaranteed. Speaking in absolutes might not be the best thing when there’s so much change in WAS.

They added a competent WR2 in Curtis Samuel, and they have a new QB who’s notorious for peppering his WR1, but has never really featured his TEs.

I love Thomas at ADP, but no one really knows what he’s gonna do this year.

As for Pitts, he could well exceed those numbers. For one, there’s another game. For another, Pitts should be a primary RZ option. Personally, I’d be surprised if he only has 6 TDs.

Time will tell if waiting 3 rounds for Thomas is worth it. Right now we just don’t know.

There’s a path to Pitts being better than CJ’s rookie campaign. There’s also a path to Thomas being a top 5 TE.

But Thomas being a bust in the 8th is also on the spectrum of outcomes (as well as Pitts being a 5th round bust)

I wasn’t aiming to get him but he fell to me in the mid 6th and I had to do it. In my main/favorite league too.

Haven't been able to land him in any redrafts yet...so far in 3 drafts he's gone as the 4th TE off the board every time, usually in the 4th round.

If he is used as much like a WR as some of you are saying/hoping, is there any long-term risk his fantasy TE designation gets changed to WR?

In one of my two main home leagues I took Pitts at 4.11 as the 4th TE off the board. Happy to do so. I don't need him to outperform historical rookie TE comps, I need him to (help me) compete against the 11 teams in my league. He can fall short of the Mike Ditka comp and still return winning value. I went with my version of zero RB in this one and went Tyreek/Mahomes/Lamb/Pitts/Javonte/Sermon thru 6. Passing TDs are worth 6 in this one.

Had a draft tonight and I ended up taking him. Hope he's a stud but the hype seems a bit much.
Welcome aboard.

Upon drafting, you should have received the hype handbook.

it’s obligated that you start speculating on whether they’ll let him into the HOF as a rookie.

Were you not issued a handbook?

I have one last draft late Wednesday night, its a 10 teamer.

Hopefully I land this monster again. (drafted in him 1/3 redrafts thusfar)

The bad part is I know of 1-2 other league members equally high on him as well, so I will either have to get him in Rd 3 or risk not owning him there.

Most of the preseason I didn't like the price........but this situation just reeks of a top 2-3 TE. Holding him out of the preseason "average run game", poor defense etc.....

We shall see if I snag him again.

So what is the best rookie TE season in the history of the NFL again?

Oh I get the point, 100%.   Its extremely rare a rookie TE explodes, granted.

But if there ever was a prospect who can be THAT GUY then Pitts just might be it.

I don't blame anyone for steering clear whatsoever as his cost is high.   I don't generally even draft TEs before the double digit rounds (league scoring/structure) but this was a case I made an exception.

Well, I'm in.  I hope I don't regret it.  At the 5/6 turn in a 12 team redraft I wanted to take a TE and had two choices.  Well there were more but realistically it was either Pitts or Hockenson.  It was the longest pause of my draft for me.  I clicked on Pitts.

I really hope he lives up to the hype.  😐

I'm playing against him week 1 and have the most unfortunate luck, so you are welcome for his week 1 explosion.

I made the exact opposite choice in my draft and picked Hockenson, but sort of regretted it afterward and wanted Pitts. I don't believe Hock's ceiling is as high as Pitts, but likely has a much safer floor.

@TripItUp Side wager? Pitts vs Thomas in PPR + 10YDs/point + -2pts FL?

I'm in for a C-Note if you are.  I'll go higher if we have someone neutral holding in Escrow.
