TE Kyle Pitts, ATL (1 Viewer)

Championships are not won in week one. He got 8 targets so that is a plus. This is a bad team so there is no reason for them not to allow him to develop as much as possible. He will continue to get the usage and the efficiency will probably improve over the course of the season.

Kyle Pitts caught 5-of-6 targets for 73 yards in the Falcons' Week 2 loss to the Bucs.

Pitts left some yardage on the field with a slip on his second reception, but he added it back with a 24-yard grab in the second quarter where he corralled a ball thrown well behind him before busting upfield with a head of steam. Pitts tallied two separate 24-yard catches in the second frame. We need to see more targets, but Pitts' usage is leaving nothing to be desired. He is being treated as a movable chess piece by rookie head coach Arthur Smith. Clearly the Falcons' No. 2 passing-game threat behind Calvin Ridley, Pitts will remain a top-six TE1 for Week 3 vs. the Giants.

He's not a rookie version of Calvin Johnson IMO. But he still might be a rookie version of Darren Waller. I don't trust Matty Melt or the Falcons OL at all, but Pitts' story is just unfolding.

My best guess is that he'll finish TE 6-12 ish.

Not a catastrophe in the 4th round but certainly not returning value.

one good game does not a stud TE make.

Still don't think he produces anywhere near the consensus top 5 TE he was drafted as not even top 10. maybe not top 15.

Arthur Smith will find a way to screw this up. never doubt it.

I would say I'm less concerned about his yearly finish, and more interested in his weekly finishes down the stretch.

He went right around the 4/5 turn in my 2 snake redraft leagues. I thought about it in both leagues but couldn't take the plunge. If I had taken him at 4.10 I wouldn't be too upset right now, as I think it's reasonable to expect him to ramp up production as the season goes based on his age and how he's being used. But you are right that you could get the production from his 1st couple weeks rounds later at the TE position.

Drafted him in the late 4th round of a 14-teamer and I'm reasonably happy so far. His peripherals (targets, slot formations) all seem good, and we started seeing some of the production yesterday. It's possible Ryan will hold him back, but I'm not ready to write off Smith's offense after two games. Certainly doesn't seem like anyone is going to pose a major challenge to him and Ridley for targets

The offensive line is extremely worrying.  They could be the worst in the league after the first two games.  Most lines at least have a strength to build on but they can get any push on runs and can't block the interior or the edge on the pass.  They have been that way for years and I am surprised Matt Ryan hasn't tried to force his way out.  No doubt they miss Julio.  I am very surprised that they have not tried to push the ball deep with Pitts.  Even rookies can run go routes and it would make the DEF think if they have a 6'6" guy 1-on-1 down the field.  Having said that, Ryan would need time to push it.  The Falcons could be one of the all-time bad teams if Ryan got hurt too which is likely with the hits he is taking.  Only solace is Tampa and Philly do have admirable fronts especially on the interior.  Ryan and Pitts may feast against teams with soft DTs.

Kyle Pitts caught 2-of-3 targets for 35 yards in the Falcons' Week 3 win over the Giants.

Pitts was an afterthought in this game until the final drive, when he caught a 25 yard pass that set up the Falcons for their game winning field goal. Pitts continues to play the vast majority of his snaps in the slot and out-wide. Despite his wide receiver deployment however, the rookie is struggling to produce immediately. Pitts will look to take advantage of Washington's suspect secondary in Week 4.

Super disappointing targets this week. Haven’t seen any analysis yet on if he wasn’t getting separation or Ryan just wasn’t looking his way.  I suppose the silver lining is he was instrumental in a few big plays down the stretch that helped them win (PI call he drew and the 25 yard catch.).

Yeah, hopefully it reminds the coach and QB that he's still on the team

or you could've just listened to those of us who said he's a but of epic proportions relative to where he'll be drafted.

rookie TEs struggle. it just happens. maybe next year he's the bomb, but this year he's a 35 catch also-ran.

This offense is a joke. All the passing is designed near the line of scrimmage. Calvin Ridley and Kyle Pitts will not be unlocked until the coordinator unlocks the vertical game.

ouch, another underwhelming performance for Pitts drafters that reached on him in the 4th or 5th...seems like a pick like this is how you lose at fantasy football.

Agreed, but I think he'll pick it up as the season progresses.  The coach is not helping either. Ridley is averaging less than 9 yards per catch.

Feels like a top buy-low to me. Probably Pitts, Woods, and Cooper would top my list.

Pitts usage is elite. Its right there with anybody short of Kelce/Waller, and its highly likely he'll improve as the season goes on.

Pitts and Ridley will not be unlocked unless this offense utilizes a vertical aspect. Too many of the passes are near the line of scrimmage where the receiver can't get separation.

I wonder how bad it has to get before we see Feleipe Franks at some point.

Falcons signed Arkansas QB Feleipe Franks.

Franks (6'7"/234) is the biggest quarterback in this class. He started for roughly two and a half years at Florida before a season-ending injury took him out in 2019, giving way to Kyle Trask as the new Gators starter. Franks then transferred to Arkansas, where he posted a 68.5% completion and 8.9 yards per attempt, both of which were career-highs for Franks among seasons in which he completed in full. Those numbers are somewhat inflated by Arkansas' RPO-heavy system, though, and it would probably be a stretch to say Franks had some sort of breakout that allowed him to produce in that capacity. A tank of a quarterback, Franks' arm fits his build as he displays cannon-like arm strength. Franks is more like a civil war cannon, though, as his aim can be pretty scattershot, especially from the pocket. The good news is Franks plays comfortably outside the pocket, which is a style aided by his 4.61 40-yard dash. Franks is a bet on size and elite arm talent, not unlike Tyree Jackson a couple years ago.

Fantasy Football Week 5 Tight End Preview: Keep running Kyle Pitts out there

Excerpt:

For the first month of the season it's hard to call Kyle Pitts anything but a bust. He ranks 19th in Fantasy points behind the likes of Maxx Williamsand C.J. Uzomah. He's been outscored by both of the Eagles tight ends.

But this is no victory lap from me. Because if you told me Pitts would have 26 targets in his first four NFL games, I would have never told you he was going to be a bust.

Pitts currently ranks seventh among NFL tight ends in both targets and yards. He's 12th in catches. He's the No. 2 option on a Falcons passing offense that looks like it's settling in. And he gets the Jets in Week 5.

No, this is not a victory lap. This is a word of encouragement to all who drafted Pitts and an exhortation to those of you who didn't. Kyle Pitts should be in your lineup. If you drafted him, that's easy enough. You don't have to do anything. If you avoided him, now is the chance to acquire him for much less than it cost on Draft Day. But the window could be closing any week.

I'd just like to point out the obvious but sometimes folks don't see it and you have to remind them...having your Top 5 WR OUT and the WR2 on the same team OUT doesn't bode well or make life easier to be a Rookie Tight End in the NFL who already gets attention from defenses even though he hasn't flashed much yet.

I would not assume we see 15 targets for Pitts and some monster game against the Jets...you might want to introduce yourself with the Jets Head Coach-Robert Saleh, that man is no dummy and they won a game last week and are going to win a few more in the coming weeks and months, Atlanta is a great opportunity for them to notch their 2nd win of the season.

"Keep wheeling him out"

While I agree in principal with this, I wouldn't at all be shocked by a 12 target, 7 reception for 87/1 game though.

My opponent has Ryan going this week, (his other options are Winston & torn-labrum Mayfield) so I'm actually not too disappointed about this development. If Pitts has even a 5/50/1 line, I have to believe that's going to be quite a bit of Ryan's production.

Christopher Harris (formerly of ESPN, he now has a podcast) calls Matt Ryan a robot, mainly because he always throws to the open guy, regardless of situation.  Like it's 3rd and 10, Ridley is past the sticks but double covered, and the RB with a gimpy knee is 5 yards short of the stick but is open - then Ryan will dump it off to the RB.  So if the Jets focus heavily on Pitts he could be shut down.

Agree 100% and I have to roll out Pitts this week. Jets will probably just do what the Giants did in week 3.

I know some are predicting more targets for Pitts Sunday because Ridley is out, but I wouldn't assume that means more production for Pitts. Part of the reason I drafted Pitts this season is Ridley's talent makes it harder to double team Pitts. If anything, I think Ridley's absence boosts Patterson.

I'll go out on the limb here, and say that this is Pitts breakout week. Against a good secondary, I agree Ridley being out could actually be a negative, but against the Jets, I think more targets are a bigger deal, and I expect Pitts to be used downfield(taking on some of Ridley's role) this week.

Pitts is my TE4 for the week after Kelce/Waller/Andrews

Pitts haters won't show up today.

pfft

not even scoring all the TE touchdowns today

:P

while he didn't have a breakout game in the first 4 weeks, he was right where you want him to be in terms of targets (T6th amongst TEs), and more importantly, lining up either out wide or in the slot over 70% of the time

only a matter of time

(oh and btw, good chance by the end of this week's games he will be 3rd in targets for TEs on the season

It was the Jets and Ridley was out so if he doesn’t produce today it would be a huge disappointment.  Kid definitely has skills and gets targets…awesome dynasty player to have.

We can see why he was drafted high in FF and in real life.  It will be interesting to see if he and Ryan can develop the chemistry, and how he will fare against opponents that are not the Jets.  He certainly demo’d his potential today…

Kyle Pitts caught 9-of-10 targets for 119 yards and a touchdown in the Falcons' Week 5 win over the Jets.

The was the best game of the season for Pitts, who led the Falcons in receiving and targets. Pitts scored the first touchdown of his career on a goal-line play where he beat the coverage to the outside. The Falcons' usage of Pitts has been up, with 19 of his 36 targets coming in the last two weeks, an encouraging sign for his ROS outlook. Pitts will a tougher test for a matchup with the Dolphins secondary after Atlanta's Week 6 bye.
