TE M. Lewis Out Weeks With High Ankle Sprain?

Vito Stellino, Florida Times-Union - [Full Article]

The Jaguars' hopes of making rookie TE Marcedes Lewis a key weapon in their arsenal might have run into a roadblock Saturday night. HC Jack Del Rio told a team spokesman Sunday that Lewis suffered a high ankle sprain in the second quarter of the Jaguars' 31-26 victory over the Dolphins. A high ankle sprain usually sidelines a player for several weeks. Lewis left Dolphin Stadium on crutches, his right leg in a boot. According to physician Jonathan Cluett, a high ankle sprain is an injury to the large ligament above the ankle that joins the two bones of the lower leg. Treatment usually includes being in a cast for up to six weeks.

TE Wrighster Could See Bigger Role?

- [Full Article]

Rookie TE Marcedes Lewis' high ankle sprain could mean a bigger role in the passing game for four-year veteran TE George Wrighster, who caught two passes, including a 51-yard touchdown catch from QB Quinn Gray in the fourth quarter.

Had high hopes for the tight end position in Jax this seaon, this makes it more interesting. They may have to PUP him, which would shelve him for the first 6 weeks? We'll keep a close eye on this one.

Wrightster was supposed to be the pass-catching TE when they drafted him but he's been a disappointment. He's the reason they drafted Lewis in the first place.

Just a gut feeling, I think they might just go with more 3 WR so I wouldn't be surprised if the beneficiary are the possession receiver (Wilford) or the WR3 (Reggie Williams).

FWIW, they said on the local news that Lewis is out for the rest of the preseason at the minimum.
