TE Travis Kelce, KC (2 Viewers)

Hmm, Irv Smith, Kmet, or go with boom or bust in Gray?
Just picked up Noah Gray (dropped 5th RB Ty Chandler) to help hedge against Kelce's injury lingering. Starting Jake Ferguson at TE this week. Let's see what happens with Gray -- he had nice stats last season considering his role and a lot more snaps than you might think (over 50% of offensive snaps in 12 games last season per CBS).

Leaning towards Ferguson as well, but would have to drop Gray.

The injury doesn't seem too serious. Apparently, Kelce was begging to play.

All that matters is tonight. I would play Gray over Ferguson.

I would love to be able to pull that trigger with confidence. Would be an epic move if Gray does something, though.

EDIT: Dangit, JohnnyU!

EDIT: In CBS leagues, as I type this ... Noah Gray is starting in 1 in 20 fantasy leagues. Wonder how many it would be with the casual leagues filtered out?

From S. Bloom in his sleeper column today:

Ferguson is coming off of a great summer when he established himself as the Dalton Schultz replacement - at least until second-round pick Luke Schoonmaker is more experienced. The Cowboys tight ends combined for 5-56 as rookies in their second game when Dalton Schultz was out against the Giants last year, and when Schultz was in, he caught two scores. Ferguson also caught three balls for 57 yards in that game. Even though Mike McCarthy is calling the plays instead of Kellen Moore, he should call the tight end’s number a lot in this matchup.

WTH, because Kelce is listed as NA rather than O by Yahoo, I am unable to move him to my IR slot this week. That's whack!

:Somebody shirt me:

Kelce owner in redraft and I'm starting Gray. Grabbed him yesterday over the likes of Okonkwo, Dulcich, Everett, and so on.
That's fairly ballsy but the kind of move that wins weeks. Big Gray fan but would have a tough time starting him over Everett. Far safer, IMO. But best of luck! :)

Mahomes last yr: 18.3% RB | 49.1% WR | 32.4% TE
Mahomes on 93 att w/o Kelce last yr: 21.8% RB | 57.5% WR | 19.5% TE
Mahomes career: 18.2% RB | 52.7% WR | 28.9% TE
Mahomes on 275 att w/o Kelce career: 21.9% RB | 63.1% WR | 14.2% TE

Everett clogged my dynasty roster for years, which clearly colors my bias.
Understood. Just love him with Kellen Moore as the OC for the Bolts. We'll see what happens. Definitely like Gray's upside tonight though.

If he indeed sits, Noah Gray would project as an every-down tight end. Gray quietly appeared on 52% of Kansas City’s 2022 offensive snaps and finished fifth on the team in catches. He was a freak athlete coming out of Duke three years ago, blazing a 4.55 forty at 6-foot-3, 240.

Per Evan Silva

He had 52 routes run in 1-TE sets last year, and he saw an intriguing 17% target rate and 2.0 yards per route run on them. With TE Jody Fortson also injured, Gray should be a near full-time player in an offense projected for the most points in the NFL. The coaching staff trusts Gray, and he even ran the 4th-most routes during their playoff run last year. Detroit was 24th vs. TEs, too. I am a believer. The Underdog Fantasy Pick'em lobby has his receiving line at 30.5 yards.

Per Hayden Winks (ranks him 10 behind Andrews, Hock, Waller, Higbee, Skittles, Goedert, Njoku, Wngram, Musgrave (assuming Watson and Doubs are out).

I’m probably gonna roll with Gray.

That is pretty damn convincing.

Was all prepared to roll with J. Ferguson too.

Damn you!

Just have this nagging feeling Mahommes hits 10 different guys for 3 receptions ish.

FOX NFL’s Jay Glazer reports Travis Kelce (knee) is expected to return for Week 2 against the Jaguars.

Per Glazer, the Chiefs were initially concerned Kelce suffered a season-ending tibia plateau fracture, though the injury was later revealed to be a deep bone bruise. Noah Gray started in his place in Week 2 and paced the Chiefs in routes, though he only turned that into three catches for 31 yards. The Chiefs’ receiving room gave Patrick Mahomes nothing to work with in their Week 1 loss to the Lions, so Kelce’s return can’t come soon enough for the reigning champions.

Don't want to start Goedert tonight after his goose-egg and then have Kelce able to go on Sunday. So I think I'm going to roll the dice and fall back on (ick) Gerald Everett if Kecle can't go.

I’m starting Goedert and flexing Kelce. I think Kelce likely plays though.

I am leaving Kelce in at TE, if he can't go I will have to go Kmet or pick HHenry off FA .. I could swap Hockenson in tonight instead!
