TE Tucker Kraft, GB (1 Viewer)

As others have said, we as a fantasy community may have gotten a bit too excited from the first few weeks about Kraft’s target share. There are several capable pass catchers and the scheme does not seem to be designed to focus on any one individual.
I think he drew a lot of the number one coverage last night, going off memory I would think two of the Doubs TDs were in single coverage.

He also wrongly lost a TD imo, the footage was not conclusive enough to overturn
I get all that but the targets still aren’t that robust. Last night, Love threw the ball 43 times and Kraft was targeted on only 5 of them. The three previous games, his targets were 4,7 and 4. He’s got a high ceiling based on his YAC ability but he’s not a target monster (at least not yet) by any stretch like McBride.

Same as last year, he looked ready to be a stud, but was a prisoner of the system. In 2024 he averaged just over 4 targets per game, with a high of 9 but only had 7+ targets in 3 games.

Packers’ Tucker Kraft has 3 TDs and 9.9 average yards after catch through the first six weeks of the season.

Since 2006, only one other tight end has accomplished this feat.

… That player was also Tucker Kraft, last year.
Almost like he should be seeing 8+ targets instead of less than 5. I get that GB wants to be an everybody eats offense (I don't actually get it, but I'm aware of it is probably a better way to put it) but they have a special player here that they routinely forget about.

If you're frustrated now, just wait until Reed and Watson are back.

I was in bye week/injury hell. CMC, Mooney and others all had a down week. Lamar was injured. I only had an 11% chance of winning, having Kraft going against Rodgers and Warren. The cheese man single handedly won me my week!

He might be the TE1 RoS! I just traded for Brock but might flip him and keep Kraft. Life is good!

I love the cheese man.

Next Gen Stats
Tucker Kraft gained +36 yards after the catch over expected on his 59-yard reception.

Kraft now leads all tight ends in YAC (325) and YAC over expected (+108) this season.

Powered by @awscloud

Tucker Kraft caught 7 of 9 targets for 143 yards and 2 touchdowns to cap off National Tight End day.

Kraft gained 131 yards after the catch, the 3rd-most in a game by a tight end in the Next Gen Stats era (since 2016).

He looks like a different breed out there. I already think he’s better than Kittle ever was and he’s starting to give me Gronk/Graham vibes from almost a decade ago.

Jacob Gibbs
Tucker Kraft looks like a Fantasy Football league-winner

💥 YAC monster + downfield role expansion 💥

26 reg season games (2024-25):

First 13 - Four targets coming 15+ yards past the line of scrimmage

Next 13 - Ten targets 15+ yards downfield, caught all but two

Tucker Kraft's red zone target share:

21% - Year 2
36% - Year 3

Only Amon-Ra St. Brown, Davante Adams, and Trey McBride have higher rates in 2025.

Only ARSB and Dallas Goedert have more red zone touchdowns (6) than Kraft (5)

I'm thinking he's going to need an invite to the top-tier TE party next season with McBride and Bowers. Warren is probably there too.
I still prefer Bowers and Warren, but he’s in the conversation. I remember when LaPorta and Kincaid were the best thing since sliced bread, but things seem to change quickly in the NFL.
Not necessarily disagreeing re Bowers (in particular) and Warren, but Laporta and Kincaid always struck me more as compilers. This guy jumps off the screen in a different way IMO

Not sure I understand. Please explain. LaPorta looked otherworldly at Iowa and his rookie season.

Like, some guys are good enough to get open enough to throw the ball to and win on things like seam routes in zones, or swing the ball out to them in the flat and they can get you your 8-15 yards so you keep doing that. QBs will take that all day in the absence of a more compelling option. There’s dozens of guys in the nfl good enough to put up numbers if you make them a focal point of the offense. Obviously laporta in particular is a level better than that but I never watched him play and thought “wow these guys can’t hang with him at all”

Other guys are dynamic playmakers and you put the ball in their hand and they make someone look stupid, over and over again.

It’s the difference between Gibbs and Montgomery, but at TE

Very possible I’m misremembering but I feel like most of the rookie laporta discourse I can recall was “wow this guy’s putting up insane numbers for a rookie TE” and not “this guy is a human highlight reel”

(Obviously this is to some degree an oversimplification and he’s better than ‘just a guy’)

Kraft is on a whole other level as far as RAC. There are quite a few good receiving TEs, but RAC is where he separates himself. I'm not sure anyone is close. I'll have to see more of Warren before I even put him in the same tier. LaPorta is a dollar store version of Kraft (but still an outstanding player).

Kraft is 6'5"/260 so he' not going to set the 40 on fire even though it was a very good time considering his size (4.63), but he's got another gear once he gets going. Kraft is kinda like King Henry in that sense. Kraft obviously isn't as fast as Henry, but he's big, strong, and tough to get on the ground. Good running instincts, too.

Kraft Cheese is pretty close to prime Gronk, IMO. Kraft doesn't have Brady throwing to him, but he's easily the best TE in the league right now. Only 24 (soon to be 25), Kraft is going to demand a massive contract.

If you all feel as bad about losing Kraft as I do maybe knowing this miserable story of mine will help you feel better.

Big FFPC Main Event, which is TEP. A few weeks ago I had built a TE room of Kraft, Brenton Strange, Darren Waller, Gadsden and Mason Taylor. It was so strong I cut Gadsden a few days before Strange got injured. Then I lost Waller who I ended up cutting so now down to Kraft, Strange and Taylor.

Last week on the first waiver run I picked up the Tampa D as my second D to use in place of the Steelers D because I liked Tampa's matchup. I looked at it some more and got concerned that with Taylor on bye in week 9, that if Kraft were got to get injured in week 8 I'd be without a TE in week 9 and needing to win a bid. So I reversed course, cut the Tampa D and picked up Luke Musgrave as insurance. That Tampa D cut and going with the Steelers cost me 29 points last week, and I entered this week 38 points from the a playoff spot.

Then of course I cut Musgrave this week.

So after having that entire group of TE's a few weeks ago and rostering Musgrave as TE insurance last week I am now down to Mason Taylor and lost 29 points in the defensive shuffle. I mean WTH with this kind of crap luck.

Hope that story of misery makes you feel better, that maybe someone has it worse because this loss stings in that league and many others.

For the record this sucks I just think ptts is hilarious. Didn’t mean to come off as unsympathetic.

It's all good, the post deserved it really, just had to let it out.

Really sucks for Kraft, and maybe I'm overrating Kraft or underrating others, but I think this could be a catastrophic loss for GB. He was their biggest difference maker, and they don't really have any others. Other than Joe Burrow and maybe Malik Nabers, I'm not sure there is a bigger offensive injury than Kraft this season.

I'm a little concerned for the Packers offense going forward.
