This guy is kind of tough to figure out without new information about his role. Kind of risky to draft him but he does have pretty good upside. Cameron may be the better target as he should do well unless he gets injured. Eifert is going soon after.

I own this guy in multiple leagues, and I'm ready to cut bait. I would rather take a chance on MyCole Pruitt at this point. I don't think Ertz will ever live up to the hype.

You're "done" with a 3rd year player in an explosive offense because of an injury? He had almost 60 catches and 700 yards as a 2nd year TE playing like half the snaps last year, with crappy QB play

Think we're stuck waiting another year until the Sam Bradford experiment runs its course.

Talent is still there -- IMO he'll be fine, maybe even this year if / when Sanchez gets in there. Ertz needs to be used to stretch the field down the seam, and Bradford hasn't yet seen a one yard dump off that he didn't like.

I guess you didn't watch the game because this actually was the game he went deep... But still not to Ertz. Kelly hates him for not blocking or something you know with all the stellar blocking TEs in the league like Gronk and Jimmy Graham and what not.
I was actually encouraged this week. The production was lacking but no one on the Eagles had a massive game in the receiving department. What means more to me is in week 3 he reverted back to a snap count similar to what we saw last season and that was a major concern. So to see that snap count rise back up to near 70% mark is more encouraging to me then his lack of production was an issue this week.
Keep in mind that some doctors say his surgery was exact same as Fosters and he had his a week or two later. To me he has not looked 100% physically but he's getting there and if the snap counts keep up I think the production will soon follow.

Agreed on the snap count.
That has to be encouraging that he's on the field more than Celek now. That seems to indicate that Kelly is more comfortable with Ertz's blocking.
The production hasn't been there, but the same could be said for the entire passing game. It's not like Matthews or Aghelor have been lighting it up either.

Let's drill down a little deeper.
The o-line is torn up and celeb is the better blocker. Does that translate Into:
A) Ertz value sharp decline because snaps will be less again.
B) Eagles go with more two TE formations and Ertz value rises as he become the TE "receiver".
C) neither as Eagles continue to twist in the wind.

So through game 6, the numbers for Ertz and the entire Eagles' passing game aren't there, but worth noting is Ertz's usage - including snap counts far surpassing Celek. Not seeing the field a lot was a big deterrent for Ertz last year, but things seem to have changed. The talent is there, so if the Eagles pass game ever starts clicking, could be a good 2nd half for Ertz.

Agree. Not sure if it is design or coincidence but the WRS being hurt and Ertz being in more is helping a lot.

He has been pedestrian trying to run side to side but last night when they put both TEs in and he plowed straight ahead, he looked like what the Eagles probably thought they were buying. IF Chip sees that as something he wants to explore more it should be a boon for Ertz (more time on the field, the Eagles sustaining drives better, more easy releases off the line as teams key on DeMarco).

Anyone who owns him but doesn't have their team name as "My Ball Zach Ertz" is no friend of mine.
On another note, perfect buy low IMO. Terrible luck from the QB position and lingering injuries...

Still a disappointing season, but have to wonder what kind of season he would have had if he didn't miss all of preseason and thus important time to click with Bradford early on. With Matthews inconsistent at best and Agholor never seeming to show much all year, Ertz could have been big time this year. Improved his blocking big time this year, so he even managed to push Celek in the background.
All that said, hard not to like this guy's talent for dynasty purposes if they continue to throw to him more, and he can stay healthy.

holy **** my initial reaction is this is a crazy overpay... almost as silly as giving bradford franchise tag money. Are they just trying to F with the redskins since jordan reed will ask for double this now?

I would guess Pederson sees him as very "Kelce" like and would use him as a primary pass catcher (one of the top two options as a pass catcher in general and a lot of use in the crossing routes).

That's wow. http://overthecap.com/position/tight-end/Kelce only got 103 targets in 16 games, ranking 13th in targets per game for TEs last year. I'm not sure how high Ertz will go in redraft next year, but I'm guessing he'll need at least 120 targets to justify his ADP.
Looks like Ladarius Green is the only UFA that could bump him down this offseason.
I like Green, but I'll be surprised if he gets much more than half what Ertz got. That's a huge payday for someone with his short, unremarkable career. And then giving Celek some decent coin - although nothing in the range of Ertz - the very next day shows Pederson's commitment to the TE position, but also a lot of money tied up in the position.I like Green, but I'll be surprised if he gets much more than half what Ertz got. That's a huge payday for someone with his short, unremarkable career. Disagree, I don't think Ertz got rewarded for the final month. They knew what they had in him before that, they were saw first hand all the early training camp reports of him tearing it up and they knew that his slow play early was just healthy related.Agreed - it is rather eye opening. As with any contract you have to look at the guaranteed money. I think this is actually pretty team friendly. Ertz got 13.3 million guaranteed. As a point of reference, Charles Clay got 24 million guaranteed last year. Ertz's average is 900K more than Clay.
Essentially, its a 2 year deal worth 13.3 million.
Entering the 3rd year its basically pay as you go for the Eagles, with each year being roughly a 8 million dollar non guaranteed deal. The third year cap hit is 4.8 million to cut him, but each year after that the cap hit drops by 1.6 million.
ETA: The 13.3 is what is fully guaranteed. The other 6.7 million is probably an injury only guarantee, although that is just speculation.

I think he's already a top 4 TE or at the very least he'd make my top 4 TE's I'd want going forward and he's just coming into is own. I also think TE deals are going to rise soon. I'm a diehard eagles fan and watched all the games. Never would have thought he had that many targets. He had games where he flat out disappeared. Bradford was also harassed most of the year behind a crap oline and chucked it in his direction out of desperation Guess that's a target. If I remember correctly he finished strong in 2014 too, In my opinion his upside is what Eifert did last year, I don't expect him to do that though. I think he will be your average low te1 type of guy.
