Tebow in the Green Room? (1 Viewer)

I read somewhere that they want to double the invitees to 18 this year because of the extra day.

.... and you thought Brady Quinn had to wait a while ?

Tebow will need to pack a sleeping bag for this event.

You never know. They usually only invite guys when there's a high probability that they'll be an early selection.

I could see Buffalo or Jacksonville going crazy and taking Tebow with their first round pick.

Tebow is a major storyline no matter what happens with him. Not sure why it is a surprise that he has been invited to the Green room. If not, he was going to be followed anyway.

They said they wanted to invite later round guys. Tebow is likely to go on day 2 (round 2 and 3). I think Myron Rolle is going as well.

I know why ESPN wants him there - ratings and the train wreck factors - but why would he want to put himself through that?

I wouldn't be shocked at all to see Tebow get taken in the 1st round. No matter where he gets drafted, it's just a smart thing for the NFL to have him there.

This is my thought as well.By the second day he'll be asking himself "what was I thinking?"
The kid does interviews with Mcshay and Kiper who do little but demean him, and he's never rattled. I doubt waiting a few hours, or spending a night in New York where he's been told he's a mid round pick will cause him any anxiety. Most of the NFL coaches and GMs were pretty upbeat about his Pro Day. I'm not sure if that's a smoke screen, but he could easily go in the first round, especially to a good team looking for a strong future prospect. The comedy is all the draft QBs are nothing but future prospects. They all need work. PFT mentioned they should simulate live pressure for Tebow. Should they have a few 400 pounders jump on Bradfords shoulder just to be sure, too?

So should we look for the Chargers to take him in the first? I would be pissed if the Pats drafted him that high. Exactly for which position is he a strong future prospect? Does one take a Wildcat QB in the first round? How about a prospective H-Back? There are a lot of hard working intelligent prospects in this draft.

To Tebow's credit he has stood up to the pressure well; the real pressure will come to the GM who takes this kid in the first round and sits him on the bench. Tebow's fans will want to see him on the field because they can't imagine anyone is better than him and the casual fan will be wondering what they are getting out of their first round pick.

I can now see him going in the 2nd round. The NFL personell who came out to see him throw are going to say positives about him, that's just smart business. To read between the lines, I think that some people that were interested in him in the 1st place really wanted to see how much of his mechanics he could change in 5 weeks. There are some coaches who really want to work with Tebow and his pro day showed that he can make some changes.

There will be some coach who will be enamored with his own ability to mentor Tebow and turn him into a starter and will take him higher that most project.

With it being a three-day event now, they probably figured they should at least have a few guys who will still be there on Saturday to give interviews. :)

I'm hoping Chan Gailey has that confidence but more importantly has the actual ability to help Tebow be a successful QB and not ruin him. I've already decided that I'm going to become a fan of any team that drafts Tebow (except for the Patriots, Jets or Dolphins). And if he comes to Buffalo I'll be one of those goofs waiting in line to get my hands on his Jersey. Tebow is the man.

Well, if he's there for the entire weekend, the NFL should at least put him up at a Holiday Inn Express so he feels better the next morning.

My exact thoughts when I heard this. My wife, upon hearing he got invited, "Oh my...and we thought Brady Quinn had a long sweat? Poor guy!"GB having a wife into sports!

I'd be very surprised if Jacksonville doesn't take him in the first round. Probably after trading down.
Makes sense. Noticed you're a Miami fan.....seems Tebow might be an ideal Wildcat QB....but pick #12 overall seems a bit high. Still, food for thought....

:hifive: I doubt he's in the room on the first day, probably just shows up for the second day.

Oh please :hifive: football gods, help put the great Tim Tebow in the Green Room so we can see him sit Thursday night and into Friday night.

Lets be honest, with 18 guys in the Green Room, the stigma of not getting picked by early-mid first round will soon die. They could invite 100 kids and the microscope would be on the same person had they only invited 3...that is the last guy picked. I can't remember the year, but one time all the guys invited flew off the board and they started the "how long will player x have to wait" at like pick #9...just silly.

Analyst: Tim Tebow shows 'ridiculous' improvement at pro day workout

USA TODAY

Tim Tebow showed marked improvement in his pro day workout on Wednesday, analysts said, far out-performing his lackluster Senior Bowl.

"From the Senior Bowl to now, the improvement is ridiculous," NFL Network analyst Mike Mayock told the Sporting News. "I was blown away."

The Sporting News reported that Tebow has an individual workout scheduled with at least five teams -- the Bills, Seahawks, Patriots, Browns and Redskins.

Tebow was knocked for bad mechanics at January's Senior Bowl. Since then, he's been working with NFL-veteran coaches to improve his throwing motion and his skills under center. The result, coaches and scouts said, was a quarterback who might be able to thrive as a pro.

"He didn't revert to any of his old habits today; he really had a nice day," Zeke Bratkowski, who's been working with Tebow, told the Sporting News. "People are talking about other positions with him. He's a quarterback. He's where he should be right now." -- Sean Leahy

The kid is moving into the first round, looks like a NE special

Did anybody think this guy would say anything different?

I have no problems with San Diego taking him in the first. I doubt it'll happen because we're set at QB, but I think two years under Norv and with Rivers working with him could end up in him being traded for a lot more than Charlie Whitehurst was.I think Tebow will be ready to play in a year, just like Bradford and Clausen. If any of those guys start for any team this year, it's going to be a rebuild effort.

Yay....another thread where all of the Tebow haters can congregate. As he's said a million times, it "only takes one team".I'm telling you, in two to three years time, there are going to be a lot of teams kicking themselves for not taking him. And, given the jersey/ticket sales that are sure to follow his selection, there will be a lot of teams kicking themselves from Day 1. We forget that not only is this a sport, it's also a business. Tebow, whether you like his prospects or not, will bring in a lot of it.Personally, if I had to put money on one player in college doing anything and everything they can do to make it at the next level, it would be Tebow. We hear all of the time "this guy has so much potential, but just doesn't have the drive to realize it" or "100 dollar talent, ten cent head". I understand Tebow is a polarizing player, but with him you get a high talent level with upside PLUS all of the drive/intangibles it will take to be great. I'm not sure how people don't get that.A nice quote from Mike Mayock (who we all respect):

Florida QB Tim Tebow has private workouts scheduled with the Bills, Seahawks, Patriots, Browns, and Redskins in the coming weeks.Initial reports on Tebow's Pro Day workout were mixed, but they're now skewing toward the positive. "From the Senior Bowl to now, the improvement is ridiculous," NFL Network analyst Mike Mayock said. "I was blown away." Tebow's ball now starts from his ear instead of his waste, his footwork was reportedly "flawless," and he's succeeded in shortening his stride. Tebow has accepted an invitation to New York City for the draft.

Mayock has never kissed Tebow's ###. When Tebow performed poorly in the Senior Bowl, he said so. He was right in there with the crowd on lambasting Tebow's footwork and delivery style. The fact that Mayock is saying such good things about his improvement is all I need to see to verify my thinking that he will be a successful QB for whatever team takes him.

Can Jacksonville really afford to NOT take him in round 1 given these improvements? They don't have any second round picks, and even if they can afford to trade up to the early second for him that may not be enough. What if the Colts or another savvy team scoops him up at the end of RD 1? There is nobody the Jaguars can take who will give them as much of a boost as Tebow. What they need more than anything right now is fans. And Tebow brings them in droves.

Agreed. I don't see how they pass on him. Week 1 will be sold out in record time.

??? Honest question, would you purchase a ticket to an nfl game because you like their # 3 quarterback?

To me, Tebow is a safe pick. If he does not pan out, everyone will say they knew about his poor mechanics and decision making beforehand. If he becomes a good pro QB, then whoever drafted him will be lauded as an QB guru. He has 2nd rd pick all over him. Unless like someone stated before, Indy takes him in the bottom of the 1st.

Yay, the Tebow PR machine is in full swing.
I hope you are all hungry. There will be a lot of words being eaten around here.
I think you're missing the point, again. If you're going to brush off and dismiss differing opinions about Tebow as "haters", it's equally fair to portray his supporters like you as part of a massive PR effort to pump him up prior to the draft.Pretty useless for substantive discussion either way.

Good post Vidon, this is exactly what people need to pay attention to....he has changed since Florida finished their Bowl game. Granted, QBs have had the right mechanics their whole lives but so what. Bradford, Calusen, most of these guys are fairly unimpressive IMO. If Tebow can throw the ball with decent mechanics he brings so much to an organization including deep dedicated leadership. Tebow is like Manning in the way he prepares, studies film, says and behaves the right way...the guy is an instant fan injection because a lot of people can relate to Tim Tebow...and his outward Christian beliefs don't hurt a bit. And he's old skool in the way he went about his business, reminds many of the mentality of guys in the 50s and 60s across campuses, he really embraced the college life and maximized his experiences and also knowledge. I don't care what he scored on the wonderlic, he seems like a guy that has enough marbles to do the right things. I think he will work his tail off in the NFL, and the amount of tickets and jerseys that sell will be enormous, even from folks that don't root for the team he is playing for.

It doesn't matter what I'd do. Jacksonville fans have nothing to be excited about. Did you see their stands during the games? EMPTY. Love him or hate him, fans will go to the stadium hoping to see him play in some capacity (there is the wildcat option there right away). He already has a built in fan base in Florida who will pay to see him in an NFL jersey. From experience, when we drafted Carson Palmer we all hit the stadium even knowing he'd not start. It happens.

What do I have to gain by "pumping him up"? Nothing. The vast majority predict him to be unsuccessful in the NFL. I'm in the minority here.

He won't be the #3, he won't start but teams are going to get him involved in the offense. Typical drop back QB offenses will pass on him but teams that get creative like the Miami Dolphins(who have a full stable), but teams that get creative will find room for him. If Jax takes him, the OC will be instructed to design plays to get him involved even as a rookie. Fans will get into him just like they do in Cleveland for Josh Cribbs...he really is a return specialist most of the time but the fans love him. Look what he accomplished at Florida...you really have to look back at it and stand in awe of what he did for 4 years including winning 2 Nat Championships, 1 Heisman, came within a few minutes of competing for a 3rd title...broke about every record at Florida for scoring and maybe the SEC as well...c'mon now you gotta be a little more aware of this.
