Terminator Genisys trailer - Ahnold is back (1 Viewer)

Saw it today with my son. I was entertained.
I couldn't believe but I actually enjoyed it a lot. Maybe it's because my expectations were so low due to the preview I saw or that the last two were so bad but I liked this as much as T1 and T2.

Terminator: Salvation was on TNT tonight, and I don't know why I didn't realize this, but the scars on John's face in Genesys are inflicted on him in Salvation. Surprisingly, I didn't mind Salvation this time around, maybe expectations being significantly lowered had something to do with it. At least, it wasn't quite as bad as I seemed to recall. Still far behind 3, much less 1,2,5, but still...I'd like to see more Terminator movies that show more of the battle against the machines in the time after Judgement Day. I think that's why I was so disappointed in this originally, cause I'd been waiting for a movie set in this approximate time, and it didn't really deliver. Granted...it also didn't have any of the other Terminator signatures, like time travel, killer machines in odd locations, etc. Ah well, maybe one of the newer ones will take post-Judgement Day on and succeed.

Thoroughly enjoyed it. I dont understand why the critics slammed it so bad, public opinion seems mostly positive. The "explanations" given for the time travel differences/changes were conceivable, although I dont think they truly make sense if you would really break it down. The next time I watch it I'll pay more attention to that. If you can buy that part of the story though the rest of Genisys quite good. Glad I spent the extra few bucks to see it in IMAX 3D.

Jai Courtney was pretty bad, stonefaced, added nothing to the movie but I found it easy to focus on everything else that was going on. That said for this franchise and being one of the bigger blockbusters this summer, how do you not get a better actor to play that role?! Doesnt need to be a great actor but #### give me a break on that casting choice. I guess there's a lot of actors who wouldve been good choices that were possibly tied up with other movies coming out this summer - Tom Hardy, Chris Hemsworth, Jake Gyllenhaal, Mark Wahlberg, Chris Pratt, Channing Tatum, Chris Evans, etc - but you would think they could have found someone with an ounce of charisma to play Kyle Reese at least.

Michael Biehn didn't exactly ooze charisma either. But he was awesome.

That dude playing Kyle Reese has terrible screen presence - he shouldn't even be in movies. Never mind being a main character. He looks like some average meathead I see at the gym.
Yet he continues to get major parts in big movies. I don't know how he's pulling it off.
I never heard of him before. Looks like the only movies Ive seen that he's been in are Jack Reacher and Divergent. I vaguely remember him being in Divergent but I guess he didnt stick out in that one with all the other meh acting in it.

Maybe charisma is the wrong word. "Screen presence" as someone said earlier might be better. Basically what it comes down to is being able to act enough to at least pull off an enjoyable performance though. Biehn can definitely do that, i.e. Terminator, Aliens, Tombstone.

He also sucked in the latest Die Hard as Bruce Willis' son. With equal screen time I might add

I really planned to hate it but it was like a mashup of T1 and T2 with more back story. There were some things I hated - like the heli chase - but overall I had a good time watching it.

The helicopter chase was pretty bad, but mercifully short.

I'm interested in the sequels because

We never did find out who sent back Pops or the Terminator that Sara said destroyed her boat.

Almost the definition of turn off your brain popcorn flick, but I was entertained.

Jai Courtney is the freaking worst. Brings less than zero to every role.

4th installments of: Rocky, Rambo, Halloween, Friday the 13th, Saw, Mission Impossible, Resident Evil, Bourne Legacy, Mad Max Fury Road.

That isn't some list of all time great movies or anything, but going with the ol Porkchop philosophy would have prevented the pleasure of viewing these. Shame.
You got pleasure out of the 4th Resident Evil movie? Are you a masochist?
or the crappy Corey Feldman Friday the 13th movie?
What and miss that amazing dance scene with Crispin Glover?

That scene is ####### priceless!!!!

Finally watched this. Agree with all the comments about the casting for Sarah and Kyle being bad choices.

Emilia Clarke has a great role in Game of Thrones, but she doesn't portray a strong, hardened woman well. Khaleesi is capable of making harsh choices but doesn't really project having become a hardened person. Just compare her to Cersei for what I mean there. Lena Headey brought that same hardened quality to Sarah Connor that she does to Cersei. Linda Hamilton did too.

I found it really hard to get past that and see Clarke as Sarah Connor. Plus the lack of chemistry with Kyle or presence by him. Movie just never drew me in while I was watching it.

Best thing about this flick was J.K. Simmons.  Arnold was good too, not surprisingly.  I like Emilia Clarke a lot but I did not enjoy her performance here too much and she was distractingly tiny next to the guys.

There was that one silhouette shot where she did not look tiny....
