Terrell Suggs (1 Viewer)

Will he get it going any time soon ? I was counting on him as a #1 DL this year, wasnt he supposed to be playing for a huge paycheck ?

Suggs has me thoroughly flummoxed. As I posted last week, he looks active to me, is clearly around the ball (as evidenced by the boxscores) but hasn't cashed in on any of his above average matchups. It's been a weird season among the DL "studs". I'm holding out hope the cream will rise by season's end, but it's getting awful late for those stuck in the minefield.

Suggs got off to a slow start last season as well. He only had 3 sacks through week 10 before finishing the season with a flourish at 9.5.Not to say he will repeat last year's late season heroics... but history is often a good indicator of future performance.

I am notoriously impatient, but Suggs is one guy I'm still willing to wait for. I, too, drafted him as #1, and week in and week out I plug him in there. I still think he'll come through. As Jene said, he's active and he's getting into the box scores in at least minor way.

PLEASE, Terrell! Don't make me cry!

Unfortunately for our argument that Suggs is soon to rebound, the slow period last season was related to a hamstring injury that Suggs played through for 4-5 weeks.

Jene - as usual you are right on top of things. Digging a bit deeper often unearths explanations for streaks good and bad. I also had RommelDAK's in depth article on previous season performance and early season trends in the back of my mind while typing the "history is often a good indicator...".Bottom line... just like Suggs 'almost' getting to the QB, there is a ton of luck and chance involved in the IDP world. Both playing and prognosticating. :lmao:

If you're flummoxed by Suggs, try having him paired with Peppers like I do on one of my dynasty teams. And to think that I thought I was so clever cleaning up on VBD by getting those two guys. :wall:

Unfortunately, the hardest position to forecast is defensive line! I'm not ashamed to say that my dl (which includes Suggs) has been horrible all year. It's driving me crazy!

Misery loves company Rommel. At least you know you aren't alone. Our IDP league is very shallow (we only start 1 DL, 1 LB, 1 DB) and due to bye weeks and lack of production Julius Peppers and Jason Taylor have been released in the last two weeks. I have held on to Suggs but may reach out for Taylor if he doesn't pick it up.

I'm giving up on Suggs in shallow leagues. I think he's trying to play through some sort of injury that we don't know about, but will probably be referenced by the end of the year. Slowly, this info leaks out....

Last year I had Suggs and Scobel

This year I replaced Schobel with Vandenbosch in the offseason.

This year i slast year all over again...and like Schobel last year, I expect VDB to bust out fairly soon.

I'm thinking losing A.Thomas might have more blockers on Suggs now... thus the loss in productivity? I wouldn't be surprised if he is trying to make sure he doesn't get hurt while trying to sign a big contract too. I haven't watched any games though to see if he might be keeping his head out of the mixups or if he is playing side line to side line trying to get in on everything or not.

Finally proof of life, he has recorded a Sack in each of his last 2 games, I think there's a good chance he will continue to build up steam the rest of the way.

Yes I own him, but still.

From watching the Bills game, they did mention too that Trevor Pryce was out, so teams could concentrate extra blockers on Suggs. So I have to agree with those that figure later this year he should start producing more when Pryce returns.

Suggs wil return to normal next week as Trevor Pryce is returning to the lineup. Pryce takes up 2 blockers and teams will be unable to double team Suggs. No one is scared of Dwan Edwards, who has replaced Pryce.

I think the loss of Adalius Thomas has affected Suggs a lot, as he is getting a lot more attention. I have also seen him dropping into coverage more.
