I saw this at NFL.com/fantasy

News: 49ers TE Eric Johnson played all 46 snaps in the 49ers' 41-10 loss to the Bears on Sunday. Johnson has gone off the field for just one offensive play in the 49ers' past three games, seeing action on 155 of 156 snaps during that time. Johnson ranks fourth on the team with 20 receptions 195 yards and one touchdown.

Aside from the grrr throw it to him then thoughts, I'm curious if anyone knows what % of plays other TEs generally miss?

I think the stat that you should look for in TE/WR are targets. that tells you more about the ability of the receiver to get open and the tendencies of a QB to look their direction. Lineman are on about 100% of plays.

thanksthat's not what I'm looking for but I appreciate the reply

I've seen this asked before, but I don't know of any site or service that tracks which 11 guys are on the field each play.

It certainly would be interesting.

Seeing which teams have 2-TEs vs 0-TEs as a % of offensive plays would be rather interesting.

Agreed - that stat would be very helpful.

It's not even the percentage of plays on the field that we need.

Like Jeff said, how often do certain teams run 2-TEs, 0 TEs, 1TE - and the splits. Near the red zone, in comeback efforts, when leading big, when the game is close, 3rd and long.

There must be a pay service that tracks that - like Stats, Inc. or something like that. The reporter got the info, so it has to be available somewhere - of course, reporters are often simply told by the team they report on and then transmitt that info

I emailed Stats and they don't do it anymore. Elias replied teams may do it when reviewing tape, they don't.
