I like the Planet Earth (Night Version) better. For those that are not aware, Duran Squared often released different versions and mixes of their songs. The most common ones were all called Night Versions, which were basically club mixes or extended versions. Some songs had a dozen different mixes (or more) that at some point appeared as B sides, extended singles, bonus tracks, CD singles, radio promos, remix albums, EP's, compilations, or boxed sets. They snuck a lot of the remixes on releases in different countries.I like Planet Earth
) and had a radio show in high school. They were the most requested band by girls by a huge margin. And I used to spin for the ladies. I still listen to them all the time (my wife is a fan).easily the worst of any remaining Cars fodder that could've been tossed ... it's not horrible, but it ain't indicative of their more brilliant works that merit higher placings. Not a fan at all of you might think.
no. #######. chance. Will there be any 4ad or cherry red stuff here? I'm doubting it, but hoping Tim surprises us
Mediocre song on a meh album. Three of four betters songs from Heartbeat and out of those only one good song .42. “You Might Think” (The Cars, 1984, from Heartbeat City)

I would have to rank this as probably the best video of the New Wave era, arguably the best video of all time. The song itself is joyously fun, timelessly catchy and feel good. And oh how I miss Ric Ocasek.
You may want to compare this list with those k-tel albums. Might be a total match. Easy way to make a list?easily the worst of any remaining Cars fodder that could've been tossed ... it's not horrible, but it ain't indicative of their more brilliant works that merit higher placings.
but, meh ... i gave up when i saw "Do They Know It' Christmas", then totally bailed when "Only the Lonely" was deemed the only Motels entry, over that FAR superior (and top 20 in my book) "Suddenly Last Summer"
no. #######. chance.
you called this the "K-Tel 80s Countdown" in another thread, and that it certainly has been.
I wish. Will there be any 4ad or cherry red stuff here? I'm doubting it, but hoping Tim surprises us
One of a bunch I prefer.
dayyyyyummm ... second time you've referenced them - first time i said "guess they didn't make you feel so good"Book of Love/Book of Love. I used to think this band sounded band recorded, but then they opened for Human League and are even worse “live”.
Not my favorite Cars song. I won't mention it until the list is done, in case it is listed further ahead.42. “You Might Think” (The Cars, 1984, from Heartbeat City)

?If you remember old school 80s, you remember people covering jean jackets with patches and pins. A friend of mine had a pin that said "Duran Duran - The band so good they named it twice!"All Duran Duran too
Also a fan of this one from the same album:gotta be, and the vid is a better piece of work than "YMT", imo

Anything that features Phoebe Cates should avoid cryptic emojis or spoiler tags.Great songs. Not mine. Trying to think of a way to give the name in emojis.
Mine is from a little earlier, it 'resurfaced' in every 80s teen guy's favorite pool movie scene!

Now that it’s been outed, I’ve always thought this was their best song. Love the atmospheric vibe to it.Don't say a prayer for me now. Save it 'til the morning after.

I just personally really dislike that tune. And I HATED the music video, which seemed like it was on MTV every 17 minutes for about a year. Not a fan at all of you might think.
Hard to argue wolfs inclusion, even if I have other preferred DD tunes.
Awful in every way, the album, the single, the video. The Cars fans who liked them in the 70's were not very receptive to Heartbreak City.I just personally really dislike that tune. And I HATED the music video, which seemed like it was on MTV every 17 minutes for about a year.
No. I have the list on the op and provided a YouTube link for each song.@timschochet - Are you doing a Spotify list or something for this?
Weren't these guys called the "New Christy Minstrels" of the movement?41. “That’s Entertainment” The Jam (1980, from Garage Days)

A lot of the music on this list is electronic based, but this song is pure acoustic guitar driven rock and roll that would fit right in with any of the great Classic Rock bands, IMO. I think these guys were super talented; the lyrics smart and edgy, the melody high quality. Just an excellent song.
My list has been set from the time I started this- no changesthanks, mr timmy - now i have the whole weekend to try to figure out which poncyass MTV single you threw out to shut me up about The Jam
You really should claim you are winging it, GB.My list has been set from the time I started this- no changes
Didn’t make my list but I do like how the guy sings “fear”:my guess is Love Plus One
someone else. I'm not a spotlighter. So we have a really tight race so far with The Cars showing up with 4 songs, Duran Duran with 3 songs, and the Police with 3 Songs. With 40 songs to go who will have the most songs in the top 100? one of those 3 or someone else? Tim, you can't answer.
Favourite Shirt down?Didn’t make my list but I do like how the guy sings “fear”:
Is it down to the lake I feah?
as our great leader Frankie Delano Relaxafella said, "the only thing we have to fe-ah is kaja without sufficient goo!"Didn’t make my list but I do like how the guy sings “fear”:
