The 1972 Song Draft ... (1 Viewer)

RCA re-released the single "Amie" 2 years after the album came out.  The song made the album popular again.  The album originally came out in 72.
All true. This is a strange case in which both the album and the single "Amie" took over two years to ever appear on their respective charts. This happened in the 80s to the band Sherrif, and I think also to No Doubt (didn't Tragic Kingdom come out way before they started getting airplay?)
This is just my opinion, so don't jump down my throat (Duran Duran), but I feel like when we do things like this or pick singles off a album just released that year (December) and none of the songs were released or played on the radio in that year we are getting away from the spirit of why we are doing this (besides to waste time).I thought we were going to draft songs that were heard or played from a certain year. The music from 1972. Not music that happened to be on an album in 1972 and then re-released in 1975. I don't consider that "1972" music. But again, I'm just doing this for iPod playlists. But I think in the quest to find that "Sleeper" we are defeating the purpose of this whole thing.

 All I know is that it was released on an album for the first time in 1972. I didn't know it was big in 1975 because I wasn't alive.

I'm actually torn on this issue. On the one hand, I agree that Amie is in no way, shape, or form a 1972 song. When it was posted, I thought to myself, "wow, was that out that early in the seventies?". I also wondered how I could have missed that in my research for this draft.

On the other hand, it kinda rewards the guy who digs deep and does his homework. It sure beats printing out 1972's Top Song list and just posting them from a cheatsheet.

I'm almost sure this is 1973. I don't have this on any of my lists.

I saw a couple of references that said it was released as a single in '72 and peaked in '73. It was also on the album "Don't Shoot Me" - released in Jan. '73.Think it's kosh . . .

Willin' / Little Feat

Best Lowell George song ever and he has lots of classics. This one is fantastic:

Willin

written by Lowell George

© Abraham Music

I been warped by the rain, driven by the snow

I'm drunk and dirty, don't you know

But I'm still willin'

Out on the road late last night

I'd see my pretty Alice in every headlight

Alice, Dallas Alice

And I've been from Tucson to Tucumcari

Tehachapi to Tonopah

Driven every kind of rig that's ever been made

Driven the backroads so I wouldn't get weighed

And if you give me weed, whites and wine

And you show me a sign

And I'll be willin' to be movin'

And I've been kicked by the wind, robbed by the sleet

Had my head stove in but I'm still on my feet

And I'm still willin'

And I smuggled some smokes and folks from Mexico

Baked by the sun every time I go to Mexico

Ah but I'm still...

And I've been from Tucson to Tucumcari

Tehachapi to Tonopah

Driven every kind of rig that's ever been made

Driven the backroads so I wouldn't get weighed

And if you give me weed, whites and wine

And you show me a sign
