Billy Joel - "Only the Good Die Young"
"Only The Good Die Young" is a popular song from Billy Joel's 1977 pop rock album, The Stranger. The song is about a young ne'er-do-well trying to seduce an innocent Catholic girl. He wrote this song about Virginia Hartmann, a girl he met during High School. He still tries to contact her. The third single released from the album, it peaked at number 24 on the American pop charts in the fall of 1978.
Due to its Catholic references, the song met resistance on certain radio stations. Joel made the most of the controversy surrounding the song - when it was banned at Seton Hall University, he wrote a letter to the president of the university thanking him for the notoriety and asking him to ban the rest of his songs. Joel also reportedly received death threats if he played the song at a concert in St. Louis - he responded by playing the song twice.

This turns theme: songs covered later on by a couple of my favorite bands.
Besides my token disco tune, my draft has been filled with rockin' tunes, so we'll slow down for a bit to listen to a tune later covered by the Pumpkins:
Thin Lizzy -- Dancing in the Moonlight (It's Caught Me in it's Spotlight)"
Now- since Amnesiac wouldn't take a Slayer song in the '88 draft, Seasons in the Abyss came out in '90 so I couldn't draft them in the '91 draft, I will settle with a kick-### tune that Slayer later covered on South of Heaven:
Judas Priest --- "Dissident Aggressor"
