The 1977 Song Draft (1 Viewer)

"Foreplay/Long Time" is one track, right? If he gets one, he gets both?
It's one track on the album ... the single is listed simply as "Long Time".However, it's cool to me to go ahead and list both -- AOR stations played it that way.

They are one track on the album, released in 1976, but according to that blurb posted by Doug B, they were released seperately as singles, charting in 1977. I don't know where that info is from, but if it is correct, my pick is questionable at best. And I doubt I would take one or the other song this high by themselves. So make a call commish and I'll stick with it.

"Foreplay" was kind of a weird case -- it was the B-side of "Piece of Mind" single. No idea why the record company split it up like that.

2nd round pick (I think)

Steely Dan - Deacon Blues

didn't see it on front page, but now I see someone took it, hold let me catch up

That's my blurb :hot: Billboard charts. Official charts of the nation

Long Time First reached the billboard Top 40 on 12Feb1977 after being released in Jan1977 and was in the top 40 for 6 weeks reaching a peak of 22

Peace of Mind (which has Foreplay as it's 'B' side) first charted in the top 40 after being released in May1977, on 18Jun1977 and was in the top 40 for 2 weeks, peaking at 38

It can stand, since I don't really care.

Where did you find that? That's good, detailed info if it didn't come from Wiki.

I have a book at home called 'The Great Rock Discography' by Martin C Strong. It has UK & US chart releases for a lot of artists, but not all. To back that up I have a Book which lists All Top 40 Billboard hits up until 1987

The Joel Whitburn book  I have the same book, but it's a later edition that goes to about mid-1992. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find it lately. :wall:

Bob Seger - Night Moves

I was having a tough time deciding between this and Deacon Blues. Simey made the decision for me.

From JML:

David Bowie - Heroes

However, it's cool to me to go ahead and list both -- AOR stations played it that way.
:penalty: i have no idea about the boston thing, but this is really bad precident.

when is the last time you heard 'we will rock you' without 'we are the champions'?

Yeah, but they're two separate tracks. These songs are not.

:loco: just saying, going by the way they are played on the radio is a bad idea.

Great posting. I am out. I sent some picks to some guys, though.

We're not. We're going by trackage. That's why he got to keep both.

during a timeout at a mavericks game?

Queen - "We Will Rock You"

yes, it is overplayed. yes, it is played at every goofy moment possible in every pro game you go to. (and was actually written with arenas in mind)

but, this is a first round song. the first time i heard that solo, i couldn't believe it.

i still sometimes don't believe it.
