The 1977 Song Draft (2 Viewers)

Amnesiac had this on his list for the 3rd round, so I assume he'd still want it. If I ####ed up his draft, hopefully the commish will allow a re-pick:

"Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll" -- Ian Dury
Wow!Saw this, but didn't think anyone would grab it (except maybe Marco).

marco is still in the chamber (sorry marco zam gotcha), junior, and zillatitty are all in the chamber. this round ends it for the night.

Barracuda was on the long end of my short list
:D
Oh and by the way, you're first 2 could quite possibly be the finest turn we've seen out of any year.Wanna tell ya a story . . .

I really love ya baby . . .
Thought I would go with a theme each turn. Saw Heart still there and wanted that song, but couldn't come up with a good companion. I'll try harder for the next one.
That riff is ####### sweet.

Playing catch up here

2 watershed moments in music history in vastly different styles

3:07 Motorhead by Motorhead

The emergence of Lemmy in powerful style. The rest of the debut is lacklustre, but this song is a sign of the raw power that Lemmy & Co would unleash in the next few years.

4:11 Oxygene IV by Jean Michel Jarre

Jarre's brilliant debut LP Oxygene revolutionised the synth movement in a way that few have. Originally released in France in 1976, it gained a UK & US release in 1977. Oxygene IV, backed by the fantastic Oxygene VI on the B-side are the standout moments on a standout track

Ok, for my next pick, I'll take

Boston- Foreplay/Long Time

This was my favorite song on an awesome album. I remember the excitement I felt as the keyboards from "Foreplay" gave way to the guitars of "Long Time". It made the hairs on my neck stand up.

As I got older, I realized that those neck hairs could be trimmed some, and that problem went away. :D

Incidently, Boston's debut album was released in '76, but this single reached the top 40 in February of '77.

No, I was out all last night. I just checked page one to see who picked what. What's the controversy? Song entererd the charts 2/12/77, peaked at #22, and stayed on the charts for 6 weeks. Oops. I see that RMOG does have it listed. I'll repick in a minute. :wall:

Ok, for my 4th rounder, I'll take:

Electric Light Orchestra- Telephone Line

My favorite in a long line of great ELO tunes. I really like how the vocals for the first half of verse one sound like they are actually being sung/spoken through a telephone.

Yeah. I had no doubt that it was eligible. My mistake was missing it on the first page.

Nope. My daughter had a basketball game last night and we went out to dinner afterwards. I glanced over the picks this morning, but I overlooked the fact that this one had been selected. I would delete my ugly oversight, but it's been quoted for prosperity. :(

No worries. Did you PM DC?

2.16--Ted Nugent-"Cat Scratch Fever"

3.02--The Eagles-"New Kid In Town"

4.16--Hall & Oates-"Rich Girl"

Hard rockin' of the Motor City Madman, one of the Eagles under-appreciated songs featuring JD Souther, and Philly blue-eyed soul at its finest, before H & O became a parody of themselves.
