The 1977 Song Draft (1 Viewer)

I select:

Maybe I'm Amazed (Live) - Paul McCartney and Wings, Wings Over America

Another example of a song where the live version is the definitive version of the song...

Don't know if we've made this clear or not, but you are encouraged to not use all 20 of your allotted minutes. Thanks.

Management.

5.11 Heard It in a Love Song - The Marshall Tucker Band Carolina Dreams

"I'm gonna be leavin at the break of dawn.

Wish you could come

but I don't need no woman taggin' along"

 The answer to that is to lower the time limit to something you're comfortable with.

If you guys want insta-picks ... go with no time limits.

Obviously Nigel is talking about if you are active and you know it's your pick, don't dilly dally around for 20 minutes. Make your pick so we can move along.

Cool.

No Color, no large font - just a quality song in the 5th round.

5.10 Steely Dan - "Peg"

I like the large font when songs are actually picked. It helps when scanning the pages if the front page hasn't been updated.

Also, great pick. (Michael McDonald on background vocals)

Hov's got 6 minutes.
You don't have to wait for me during the day. My computer access is limited to when I don't have 14 things going on at once. I'll catch up. Thanks for looking out for me Nige and for the PM.

Not sure how well-known this tune is, but I think it's my favorite of theirs ...

Electric Light Orchestra - "Mr. Blue Sky"

Had this one on my short (very short) list but couldn't pass up Steely Dan. Was hoping "Mr. Blue Sky" would come back to me. Looks like disco it is... :kicksrock:

Why aren't ELO in the Hall of Fame, or at least Jeff Lynne?I've been meaning to start a thread on this
I could answer that, but you won't like it

 My favorite non-Beatle McCartney song . . .

They're crap isn't the most revealing of answers. Why shouldn't they be admitted?I've only got ELO best ofs & Discovery, so I'm not an ardent fan or anything, but long periods of consisent quality at a very high commercial level, fingers in many pies, innovative etc.

Who has ripped off the Beatles better apart from perhaps Oasis? (maybe another thread :bag: )

As I said in the other thread, I think they will be admitted at some point. Whether they "should" or "shouldn't" be, well I have no opinion. I don't think they had the kind of impact that their fans think they did. Jeff Lynne rubbed elbows with a lot of heavy hitters... but what kid danced in front of his mirror wishing he could be Jeff ####### Lynne someday?

So he was a commercial whore with no charisma?

Are you putting words in my mouth or are those your own words? I'm not even sure. You should tell me why he should be in the HoF. Album sales? X number of hit songs? Rubbed elbows with the right people?
