OK, here's my bold prediction for the year. The San Francisco 49ers will be victorious over the Chicago Bears this week. Before you say "you're nuts, butcher boy", hear me out.

1.) Both teams are coming off their Bye week. However, the 49ers are still going to be pissed off about the drubbing they took from the Chargers two weeks ago. The 6-0 bears, on the other hand, are coming off a very emotional victory and are due for a letdown game.

2.) Arizona showed the league how to penetrate the Bears defense. Now, the Bears are also without Mike Brown. You better believe Mike Nolan will have the team ready for this. Alex Smith is very similar to Leinart in the way he progressed this year and should have the same success.

3.) Last year, the Niners were able to all but eliminate the home field advantage the Bears had and kept the game to a defensive struggle (the Wind Bowl. remember the wild field goal attempts in that from this game last year?). This year, the 49ers actually have an offense. Alex Smith will take over this game.

4.) Rex Grossman has reverted back to the horrible QB we all know and love. What was it? 6 INTs vs. Arizona?

4.) Larry Allen and Jonas Jennings will be returning from injuries to their starting positions at OL.

I know this won't be a popular opinion, but I stand by it. :loco:

Final score:

49ers 17

Bears 14

if this game were being played at Monster Park I'd be alot more inclined to agree with you, but since the 49ers are on the road, it's highly unlikely

I look forward to the Sunday bump...and you being nowhere near this thread.

Good luck with this.

Can I mock your words, instead? ;)

I don't buy it. For one, the Bear's letdown *was* last week. They just happend to win while imploding. They won't let that happen again. I do believe that they go back to relying on the defense and run game, though, so I'd bet Thomas Jones has a big week.

Yeah, I know, that's not much of a prediction when players are up against the 49ers. I feel like a NFL.com fantasy expert.

2.) Arizona showed the league how to penetrate the Bears defense. Now, the Bears are also without Mike Brown. You better believe Mike Nolan will have the team ready for this. Alex Smith is very similar to Leinart in the way he progressed this year and should have the same success.
When did this happen? In the game I watched, the Bears defense played great for 3 quarters after a disappointing first.

I  you for your bold prediction.

But I think that you are completely off base on this one.

I think the Bears come out and show people that the Arizona game was a fluke and destroy the niners.

Bears 34

Niners 13

With the Niners scoring all 13 of there points in the 4th quarter.

BEAR DOWN!

I think the Bears come out and show people that the Arizona game was a fluke and destroy the niners.Bears 34Niners 13
I just think that despite horrible play so far, there is too much talent on the 49er defense for these whoopings to continue. Couple this with the fact that Grossman has come back to reality, and I think the 49ers can make the necesary plays this week to keep it close.

Yeah...like the bears aren't going to be just as pissed coming off of their bye week...

get real, kid.

hopefully you'll show up for your share of crow on Sunday unlike the ######## that claimed "MARK IT DOWN" Bills over Bears at home.

serioulsy. do you even watch games? Alex Smith loves to get BOMARRED by the Chiefs at Arrowhead. The kid cannot go into a hostile environment against the best team in the league and win. I think the 17 1/2 point spread is just about right.

The Cards showed what many of us already knew, that the Bears (like many teams) have a tough time vs. a dominating WR (Smith last year, Boldin last wek, etc.). The Niners have no WR's of comperable quality. The Bears were down to their 3rd RB last year and struggled to run the ball. I think the combo of Jones and Benson will be able to control things a little better. I think the Bears will establish the run early. Turner has actually been criticized for openning things up too much this year. I think the Niners will be well prepared, but they just won't be able to score with the Bears in Chicago.Gutsy call though.

The skies will fall in Chicago and swarms of locusts will rain down upon the field. The Earth will quake and tremble and the dead will walk. Dogs will lie with cats. The ocean waters will boil...etc...etc...

MARK IT DOWN!

The 49ers defense is abysmal. The 49'ers offense, though much improved, is still no match for that Chicago defense.

There are only a handful of teams out there that I think have a legit shot at beating the bears and those teams have a far better and more potent offense and better defense.

Now if the spread favored Chicago by 13+ points I might take that, but no way do the 9'ers pull this one out. If they do...you can use this as your signature.

I think Bryant is comparable. Also, the Bears will be without Mike Brown. Can they afford to double cover someone?

The worst thing that could have possibly happened to the Niners is the way Chicago played against Arizona.

I almost feel sorry for them. :(

Your words are marked, as is your insanity.
These are the exact same comments that were being made prior to the Arizona game. IMO, insanity describes a person who can't acknowledge that any team can beat any other team on any given Sunday. The Bears are not immune to this........

I got a feeling we're going to have this threads every week telling us to MARK IT DOWN about how the bears are going to lose to whoever they're facing that week....one of these days someone will eventually get it right and crown themselves genius of the week.

So because Arizona (nearly) beat them, SF will too?
No necessarily. But it wasn't so insane before was it? Any given Sunday and all that stuffMy opinion: It won't happen. If it had been at San Francisco, and if the Bears hadn't gotten that scare against the Cards, maybe, just maybe, I wouldn't dismiss it.It does seem like there'll be a weekly "Bears are going down" thread but like I had said before, the Bears first loss will come at New England. But the Giants look to have a decent shot as well (if their defense plays well).

:lmao: This kills me. Out of 6 games , he has 4 great games, 1 average game with a game winning td drive, and 1 bad game. 1 bad game and he has "has reverted back to the horrible QB we all know and love" ??? When , in his whole 13 starts (besides the cards), was he ever a horrible QB ??? when??? Seems to me, in the majority of his starts, he has played pretty good. Grossman is still arookie by playing time standards.

I see this as nothing more but a pathetic attempt at looking like a genius by picking the lowest probability.Chicago will destroy SF!!!

Over under sacks on Alex = 8.5!

Let's make this real simple to see if you believe this drivel...Your choice:

a) $100 on the game, straight up.

b) Loser leaves the board for the rest of the year.

Mark my words....with the culture and attitude of the team that Lovie built, the Bears treated the Arizona game as worse than a loss. They will be more angry, more disciplined, and have a bigger chip on their shoulder than every before. That near loss was the wakeup call that the team needed to refocus and bring themselves back to earth.

That game was their letdown. I see focused pissed off discipline from here on out.

Bear down, mofos....bear down.

The Bears are the Greatest Team Ever. Just ask their fans.

How can they lose?

Bears 45

Ditka 27 (he plays the 4th qtr only)

49ers 6

I would normally bye into this type of thinking, but in this case the week off should remove the emotional letdown aspect and help the Bears move on and get refocused.I would predict that the Bears hold SF to under 200 total yards and give up only a TD in a pretty resounding win.

The worst teams in the NFL aren't that much worse than the best teams. Given the right set of circumstances... any given Sunday.

Emotions play a huge factor that often gets discarded by people trying to anylze a game. I think Chicago is already viewed as the elite in the NFL (rightly so IMO) and they're going to get everybody's best game from here on out. This could be San Francisco's Super Bowl for 2006, as it could be for several other teams on Chicago's schedule this year.

Good point. I previously stated that the Bears would win 31-3.Now, I see it as more like 31-3 or so.

Yeah, because upsets never happen in the NFL, right? It's one thing to make a ######ed post like "LOLZ the 9erz WILL BEAT DA BEARZ" or you can provide reasoning behind the prediction like I tried to do.

By the way, I don't hate the Bears or anything and I do consider them elite. I'm just looking at the signs and coming up with a prediction.

It's not the WR, it's playing on the road.@GB 26-0DET 34-7@MIN 19-16SEA 37-6BUF 40-7@ARI 24-23They've completely dominated at home, allowing no more than 7pts. On the road, they've struggled in 2 out of 3 games. They dominated the Packers, but GB sucks and that was opening day.SF is going to get destroyed.

No one has the stones to put their money where their mouth is. Its all about someone throwing the upset of the week out there then, if by some great miracle it happens, they can come back and say I told you so. Else comes next weeks "upset guarantee".

 First of all, how do you enforce a bet like that over the internet and second of all, I haven't gambled money in a long time and I don't plan to anytime soon.

If you don't think I believe what I typed, there's really nothing I can do to change your mind other than show up to the thread on Sunday and either eat crow or serve it.

Yes, I believe what I typed but it's all done in good fun or at least its supposed to be. I didnt know discussing football over the internet was such serious business here.
