The 5 Worst Trade Partners (1 Viewer)

The guy that never makes an offer just tells you who he wants.
I like to start like this. I'll make an trade offer and put no one in return, just to start the conversation. I'll usually list some wants in the comment section. It does two things: 1) alert the other owner that I'm looking to make a deal, and 2) often prompts an offer from the other side to me which was better than I was hoping for in the first place.
I don't even respond to those fishing trips

I got one: Happened last night....the absolutely clueless owner.

I was in a draft, league has been around since Rodgers' rookie season. So what 8 years?

A good owner dropped, leaving only two good owners in the league. This league started with a lot of promise, but slowly over the past few season (as the commish has just done a ####tier and ####tier job) it has been populated with owners who suck. Nobody trades. Nobody responds to offers. And apparently they don't even do any research at all.

New Owner took over for a very good owner and his very good roster.

Last night, 4th round, he releases Travis Kelce and....wait for it...Lamar Miller. I was deck. I called him and traded up one spot. (Gave him Ebron and Sanu). I then took Miller.

The commish was running the show, ....online draft dragged on forever as people who stated they were done picking sat on the clock and the commish wasn't skipping their turns. Just a cluster ####.

I quit this morning.

This happens all the time in leagues I play in. I never used to do it, but do now because it seems so common. I see no problem with it. Sometimes, people just aren't willing to deal a player and this is a good way of weeding that out.

I normally say make an offer, because your the one thats asking about the player- I never recieve an offer. If your trying for a player that I'm open to trading (open to trading anyone) make an effort and send an offer. It never gets past, I want Luck... Ok send an offer... crickets....

It's a fishing trip to get me to make them an offer. If they want my player make a real offer and we will talk

Maybe some are. Almost every time I've replied with "make me an offer" I've gotten one, though.

Coulda Shoulda Woulda

This owner never or very rarely sends offers, but shows up every time you make a trade with someone else to comment on how much more he would've given. The conversation, usually in the league chat room, goes something like this:

CSW: OMG, I can't believe you traded Player X for that! I would've given you more!!!111

Y: Why didn't you make an offer?

CSW: I didn't know he was available.

Y: I had him on the trading block.

CSW: Well, yeah, but I figured you wanted too much for him. If I knew you were giving him away, I would've made an offer.

Love this post, certainly have one of those in one of my league who always tries to get a trade revoked because he would have "offered way more than that." Your quotes are right on the money, too. Also, same guy in my league is the one who never gets on and replies to message boards/discussions but then always says this crap when there's a trade he doesn't like.

Any other leagues had a problem with misclicking? Say, a trade is made and one of the owners comes out and swears that one of these things is true:

  • He never offered it
  • The trade is wrong and not what he meant to offer
  • He never accepted it
We've had this problem twice in this league's six year history and it was a load to deal with both times.

7. TheOnlyWaitsForOffersGuy - This guy makes trades if they are offered to him, but never offers a trade to ANYONE.
I think 90% of the offers in my league are sent by 3 guys, and none of us are "spammers". Everyone is willing to trade, but only 3 teams (myself included) ever seem to make any offers. It's a bit frustrating.

Had a guy that accepted a trade and came out begging for a reversal because he meant to counter, not accept. I allowed the reversal because I didn't want to be THAT guy, and he said he would send a counter... Never did and never replied. I'll never let this guy off the hook again.

We have had the same owner pull this a few times, saying it was a problem with his phone and never meant to accept trade or drop guy. We passed a rule this offseason that any done deal was in fact a done deal, no exceptions. If you do not want the "phone issue", dont use your phone.

we require confirmations on the message board. so you could make this mistake and clearly you wouldn't confirm on the board. Instead you'd state that it was a mistake. rule has been in place 14 years, though we've never had I don't remember having a reversal because of it.

i'm a trade-aholic and there have been instances where i have so many trades proposed at one time i'll make a mistake on the offer (wrong player included or i forgot to check a player i wanted etc.) and not catch it until it gets accepted by the other party. but trading is what makes this hobby fun. I can spend way more time than a normal person staring at the rosters page for my league trying to find trading partners... trying to identify a team that has needs that I have depth at etc....

I'll throw one in- TheGuyWhoWantsToBeRomanced.

'Hmm, this offer is really, close, you're almost there but go sharpen your pencil a little bit more'.

Uh, no thanks, thats the offer, either counter it or go punch yourself to sleep.

How about "The Hater?" He hates how everyone goes about doing trades. He feels that the way he does it is the only right way to do it and if it's not done his way then you are an idiot. Reading this thread I feel that the majority of people that have posted fall under this category. :D

We already know you've took offense to the rest of us calling you out on your shady trade practices. No need get upset at the grown ups. If anyone has been bringing hate to this thread it's you.

It seems like you are the Hater and "Don't hate us because you a nus."

Edit: That's a joke from the movie The Interview but I'm not sure if it would've been taken as an actual insult or not. Also, it's interesting the words that get blocked out. I didn't think it was that bad of a word.

I'm not mad nor am I hating. Was just joking around. Seriously, read through all the posts on here and it just sounds like a lot of complaining about how everyone else is terrible at trading and they are great at it. I have to imagine that all of us have fallen under one or more of these titles at least once in our fantasy football careers.

What I'd like to know is how many of these trades being made were actually seriously made thinking they gave you a great offer only for you to think they were low balling you? I have a feeling this happens a lot. I know I've offered some trades in the past that I thought were very fair only for the other person to think I was joking. It's all about perception sometimes.

6. YouShouldTradeHimBecauseGuy - The guy who wants a player from you, but tells you all his faults and reasons why said player isn't any good and you should trade him.
Number 6 right now. Another manager offering for Hyde and telling me all of the reasons that his week 1 performance was a fluke and that he will struggle to run the ball in that division. Pretty funny, aren't you the one offering FOR him? Must be something appealing about him.
