The 50 Greatest Hair Albums EVER. (1 Viewer)

18. BulletBoys – BulletBoys (1988) https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/a/a1/Bulletbullet.jpg/220px-Bulletbullet.jpg

Another band and album for whatever reason I think gets overlooked and not given their due. “Smooth Up in Ya” is a strip club staple and I can’t how many times I’ve heard “For the Love of Money” at a sales conference.

1. Hard as a Rock

2. Smooth Up in Ya

3. Owed to Joe

4. Shootthe Preacher Down

5. For the Love of Money

6. Kissin’ Kitty

7. Hell on My Heels

8. Crank Me Up

9. Badlands

10. F#9
Can't think of an album with better starts to songs. Just a great party album. One, two, #### you.

24 blue. 24 blue. Hut, hut, hut.

L A Guns in the convo for my favorite album of the genre. So good, raw, timeless to me. This and Mech Res

Glad I've got company in the Dokken club. Just a great hard rock band.. Beast From The East anybody? .. If only they could have gotten along who knows, they might have streaked into the 90's like Queensryche, maybe even come out the other side. Seems Don is a real upper elite level toolbag

Poison is dog poo
Lynch is in my top 5 favorite guitar players. Great sound. Big riffs. Blistering but singing solos. Dokken was great. Sometimes the lyrics were embarrassingly awful but the music and Lynch were tough to beat.
Not in my top 5 but he is up there. Mr. Scary is a great instrumental! If you like Lynch you should check out KXM with Ray Luzier on drums (Korn) and Dug Pinnick from King's X on vocals/bass.

19. Poison Open Up and Say Ahh! (1988) https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/5/5f/Open_Up_and_Say_Ahh_Cover.jpg/220px-Open_Up_and_Say_Ahh_Cover.jpg

This is the last appearance for Poison on the list. You could make a case to flip this and LWTCDI, but one of the most played ballads of all time gives this one the nod.

1. Love on the Rocks

2. Nothing but a Good Time

3. Back to the Rocking Horse

4. Good Love

5. Tearin Down the Walls

6. Look But You Cant Touch

7. Fallen Angel

8. Every Rose Has Its Thorn

9. Your Mama Dont Dance

10. Bad to Be Good
No. 19? Wwwhhhaaaatttt?

Anyway, Fallen Angel is a criminally underrated song.

big Dokken fan. My top 50 would include 3, maybe even 4, Dokken albums.

Under Lock and Key came out during my junior year and I had a job working at McDonalds in a town that was 9 miles away. I remember spending many nights making that drive home with this album blaring. good times
Same here. Not sure if Tooth and Nail will make this list but Back For the Attack should. Not being a guitar player, but nobody impressed me more with his style and tone than George Lynch. With that said, I saw Dokken earlier this year during Daytona Bike Week with LA Guns and was pleasantly surprised by Jon Levin's playing. Was also nice not see the band not breakout into a fist fight on stage like the last time I saw them.

#2 sure does confuse people .. I bet 90% of the crowd sings "Smooth O.. pin... ion"..

I know my wife did until one day in my car the song came on and the title showed up and she looks at it and says "Well.. That changes it up just a bit huh??" :lmao:

I think "Beast From the East" was one of the first 5 CDs I ever bought. Lynch's live Mr. Scary was one of a handful of tracks that led to my picking up an electric guitar for the first time.

I will be putting together a Spotify playlist based on this once War completes it and will share once I get it finished. So hurry the #### up man!!

I have a hard time believing anybody really thinks Open Up and Say....Ahh is a better album than LA Guns - LA Guns. There's 3, maybe 4 good songs. It IS a hell of a lot cheesier and maybe that's what we're going for here?

seriously, I just listened to Love On The Rocks and had to turn it off 90 seconds in. Look But Can't Touch? brutal song. Tearin' Down The Walls. auto-skip for me. don't even get me started on Your Mama Don't Dance...Y&T's version of this song blows Poison's away and its a bad song for Y&T.

:X

I thought Under Lock and Key was a very solid album too.Lightning Strikes was my favorite from that one but it also had In My Dreams and It's Not Love as solid songs as well.

You guys are gonna make me dig out some oldies again.

17. Dokken – Under Lock and Key (1985) https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/b/b0/Dokken_-_Under_Lock_and_Key.jpg/220px-Dokken_-_Under_Lock_and_Key.jpg

When we get to this point in the list two things happen. 1 The albums speak for themselves. 2. We’re going to be getting “band heavy” on some really great groups.

1. Unchain the Night

2. The Hunter

3. In My Dreams

4. Slippin’ Away

5. Lightnin’ Strikes Again

6. It’s Not Love

7. Jaded Heart

8. Don’t Lie to Me

9. Will the Sun Rise

10. Til the Livin’ End

Totally agree. Fallen Angel and Every Rose are great songs. The rest are awful. More reasons to punch Brett.

16. Tesla – The Great Radio Controversy (1989) https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/2/2e/Tesla_The_Great_Radio.jpg/220px-Tesla_The_Great_Radio.jpg

Love these guys.

1. Hang Tough

2. Lady Luck

3. Heaven’s Trail

4. Be a Man

5. Lazy Days

6. Did it for the Money

7. Yesterdaze Gone

8. Makin’ Magic

9. The Way It Is

10. Flight to Nowhere

11. Love Song

12. Paradise

13. Party’s Over
Love this band and this album. I'm not going to quibble but I don't consider Tesla "hair." Their songs aren't cheesy and they don't dress in spandex. To me they are a straight forward American rock band that happened to play in the same era.

In any case as I said I'm not getting hung up on it. Please continue OP.

Was just rockin' to this a couple days ago. This was one of my most played CDs back in the day.

I may be a bigger fan than some may be , so fair warning you better put your Dokken britches on now.

1. Unchain the Night

2. The Hunter

3. In My Dreams

4. Slippin’ Away

5. Lightin’ Strikes Again

6. It’s Not Love

7. Jaded Heart

8. Don’t’ Lie to Me

9. Will the Sun Rise

10. Til the Livin’ End
Thinking 17 should be Back For The Attack, with Tooth And Nail still to come?

I would go the other way. I feel BFTA was their best album

What sport are we playing? Open Up And Say Ahhhhh has 2 of the... I don't know... 10-15 best hair band songs of all time? And the rest isn't great. Most of the rest isn't even good.

Is this the NBA where 2 songs a bunch of crap is a recipe for a dynasty (Shaq and Kobe)? Or is this the NFL where poor JJ Watt and Jadeveon Clowney look around at the rest of the team and cry?

I’m sure there will be a line around the corner of those wanting to take a dump on my chest for putting this above the self titled album, but it’s good and has the best ####### ballad ever introduced to mankind. It reminds me of my doggie-mama, no she isn’t dead, but her name is Jade which sounds like Jayne.

1. Letting Go

2. Slap in the Face

3. Rip and Tear

4. Sleazy Come Easy Go

5. Never Enough

6. Malaria

The discussion about Tesla is good one.. But kind of a "screwed if you do, screwed if you don't" include them..

They made it big during the era.. But agree that they aren't a "Hair" group to me..

But the same can be said for Queensrÿche.. More along the lines of a ******* child of Pink Floyd + Led Zeppelin then a Hair band to me..

The only album of theirs that comes close to "Hair" for me would be Empire with "Jet City Woman", Silent Lucidity", "Another Rainy Night"..

yes, the first one was better overall but this was still a great album. was rockin' this at lunch today. 17 Crash, I Wanna Be Your Man, Give A Little, loads of good stuff on here.

By the way once you finish the list you should all a poll to the OP asking how many albums on the list you currently own.

can't wait to see what other 9 albums you have over this. I don't have my rankings in front of me but I'm sure it was top 5, possibly even top 3.

It's a testament to how good this album is that that is my least favorite song of the first four tracks.

Yeah I have to agree the entire album is just really good solid rock so it's hard to pick a favorite.Tesla is just one of those bands that didn't get it's due because of how this genre was viewed by critics and haters.Really good to see a bunch of you into them as much as I was.
