FYI Verizon is granting early upgrades for the iPhone 6....
How? I have an upgrade coming on 10/9 and they told me I could not pre-order and had to wait until the 9th. As an aside, I was in the store on day one of pre-orders and ordered a 6 for my wife who already had an upgrade available. Her current ship date is 10/7. The Verizon rep said they get shipments, but won't know when or how many (due to security reasons, she said), but said I may be able to get one in stock on the 9th.
You are eligible.... It's anyone eligible on or before November 15th! Call back:

http://www.businessinsider.com/verizon-iphone-6-early-upgrade-promotion-2014-9

"As a special thank you to our existing customers, all Verizon customers who would be eligible to upgrade on or before November 15th have had their upgrade dates changed to become upgrade eligible immediately. These customers can now upgrade to any device currently in our lineup, with new two year contract. Customers should check My Verizon to confirm upgrade eligibility."
Thanks again for the heads up on this. Called Verizon today and placed my order. Its not set to arrive until 10/21, but I am guessing this is much earlier than if I'd waited until 10/9 to initiate the upgrade. I will lose my unlimited data plan, but they offered to replace it with a 6GB plan for a penny more than I am paying for unlimited per month. I doubt I will eer get close to the 6GBs. Now, to see if folks are getting theirs earlier than projected.
I bet they did. You could have sold your unlimited plan on Ebay. They are going for even more than when I sold mine. 1 line is going for $500.

http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_sacat=0&_nkw=verizon+unlimited+data+plan&LH_Complete=1&LH_Sold=1&rt=nc
How does this work?
Here's some info:

http://verizonforums.com/threads/sell-your-verizon-unlimited-data-plan-keep-your-number.363163/#axzz3Dijvfq8B

Also you can look at the sales on ebay, the details are posted with each auction.

Don't just give up your unlimited plan. It is definitely worth $$.

Is this a joke? Android fanboys were talking about widgets and they don't even have visual voicemail?
And their OS / hardware are still antiquated 32 bit tech... but that's neither here nor there.

FWIW, I have visual voicemail on my android Note thru Google Voice, which integrates with the phone app. Also can send you a notification with a transcript of the voicemail if you want. It's not always the most accurate transcript, but you can at least tell if the message was important enough to listen to right away or if you can put it off.

You actually have to set all of that up though, so it's not nearly as intuitive at the start compared to iPhone's. I actually panicked a bit after switching from iPhone and then finding out there wasn't any visual voicemail at the start. Calling into a box felt like going back to the stone age. Or you have to pay Verizon a monthly fee to use their own android vvm app.

Fortunately though, there was the free Google voice option (there are other third party app free options). And with the transcript, I've actually ended up liking it better in the long run.

Anyway, just wanted to set the record straight. Back to iPhone...

I ordered a TMO 6+ 64GB Silver and had an estimated delivery of 1 - 6 Oct. It just shipped last night. Now there is no delivery estimate but hopefully it's coming much earlier than promised.

Anyone know why my 5s is constantly asking for my iCloud password since I did the last iOS update? Not to iOS 8--the one before that.

Most cell providers require it to only be shipped to the billing address. Couldn't get mine shipped to work.

CORDOVA, TN 6:43 am On FedEx vehicle for delivery

CORDOVA, TN 6:18 am At local FedEx facility

Left a note on the door w tracking number and signature. Have my standing Friday lunch with my folks so if it's delivered before then they're going to grab it and bring it up.

Some weird exception with VZW where they would NOT just hold it at FedEx facility to show ID and pick it up... had to make at least one delivery attempt for some odd reason. :/

How is iOS 8 so far?
A lot like iOS 7

So far I'm enjoying playing with swiftkey... though I WISH there was a siri button to dictate on that keyboard. There are times when I still wish to dictate texts and theres not that option when you have swiftkey up

Love muting/leaving/naming big group text threads already... feature that's been CONSPICUOUSLY absent from iOS for a while.

Phones don't need protective covers like they used to...they're much more durable. Going without a cover, especially with phones this size, is the call imo.

OMG, I got a scratch on my phone I'm getting rid of in two years. :lmao: It's not a Porsche.
I've gone caseless for years. I have a chip in the glass in one corner and some superficial scratches, but for the number of times that I have dropped this thing (iphone 4), it's held up remarkably well

My buddy woke up this morning an iPhone 4 AT&T guy. Decided about an hour ago that he wanted the 6 and to switch to Verizon. He just walked out of the VZW store with a silver 64 GB iPhone 6 and the $60 VZW plan.

They only had 2 phones in the store though (other was a 16 GB gold).

WIth handset insurance, I figure I can destroy my $850 phone twice a year and get a new one for only $149

Swiftkey is pretty darn cool. Glad we finally got this.

If you guys like swiftkey then you will love flesky. I have to assume they will do an ios keyboard soon.

swiftkey has their own dictation api so I assume it doesn't play well with siri. I wonder if they will allow siri to merge into swiftkey.

All my voicemails get transcribed to a email that pushes to all my accounts.

AT&T has free visual vm iirc. Or just use gv.

It's magic. I have no idea, set it up like 4 years ago. Still works. Call them and ask.

Only annoying thing is that you still have to clear the alerts on the system or it polls you as having an unopened vm.

A buddy just sent me a picture of an Apple store in Delaware, said the line out side was at least a quarter mile long. The people in the back of the line can't possibly think they're getting a phone today, do they? (Without preorder)

No dice at Walmart. Target had 6+ for every carrier except for version. Currently in line at Costco and one of the guys here said they have 6+for every carrier

I can't get SwiftKey to work on the messaging app. Any luck for anyone else?
Did you install it and follow these steps...To enable it , go into Settings-> General-> Keyboards -> Add New Keyboard. Pick SwiftKey then give it full access.

To make it your default keyboard, go back in Settings-> General-> Keyboards and click on Edit in top right. Delete English Keyboard and move SwiftKey to top in case you have another keyboard beside SwiftKey. You can add English back later on if you change your mind.

Yeah did all that and still not working. Just checked twitter and I guess it's some bug

It worked for me yesterday but it was a bit buggy, would disappear at times or freeze. I removed it because of the missing Siri button too. But iMessage seems to be similar with the word selection, just without the sliding around the keyboard function.

Decided to update to iOS8 last night about 11:30 PM my time. Probably not my best decision ever. I called AT&T to unlock my phone to make it easier to sell, so I wanted to do an Update and Restore so that it would be unlocked. Damn thing bricked my phone. Was up till 3 AM getting it back. Thankfully, iOS8 is now installed and my phone is unlocked. Just need some more coffee this morning.

I just played with a 6 and it felt much better in-hand with the case for grip. The sides are slippery compared to the 5. YMMV.

Verizon store in town here lied to me. Told me on preorder day I'd get my iPhone 6+ this weekend, but sound like I won't be getting it there until October 9th!!! :hot: :censored:

Looking for a new wallet case for my i6. Let's share here if you find a good one.
Have this for my 5, and just ordered it again for the 6. A big reason I didn't go with the 6+ is because I love only carrying one "thing" and if I went with a 6+ (and similar case) there was no way that was fitting comfortably in my pocket so I would have to go back to carrying a seperate wallet.
