The Apple iPhone Thread (4 Viewers)

Phones don't need protective covers like they used to...they're much more durable. Going without a cover, especially with phones this size, is the call imo.

OMG, I got a scratch on my phone I'm getting rid of in two years. :lmao: It's not a Porsche.
I've gone caseless for years. I have a chip in the glass in one corner and some superficial scratches, but for the number of times that I have dropped this thing (iphone 4), it's held up remarkably well
Stopped by Best Buy and picked up a 6. The 6+ was just to big. I have cone caseless for years also. After handling the 6 I feel like I'm going to get a case eventually. When you lay it on it's back it has a wobble to it because of the camera.

I predict we end up with scratched or broken lenses fairly easily. Just seems like a bad call having it stick out like it is.

Not going back to search, but did anyone post the video of the first kid in Australia buying his then coming out to a live TV broadcast and drop it on the ground?

WIth handset insurance, I figure I can destroy my $850 phone twice a year and get a new one for only $149
Isn't it $149 + $180 (12 monthly payments at 15) = $329?

Might still be a bargain considering the cost of the phone.

Insurance is $8/mo with verizon, but yes.

I am very hard on phones... have half a dozen handset insurance claims over the years. It's a must have for me. Lost, broken, dunked. It happens. But yeah the 128GB 6 is retail of $850 I think.

I view the $8/mo as a sunk cost... it's happening :) The $150 replacement isnt bad.

Someone in my office walked into Verizon and just bought one.

Got the regular 6.

Seems like the perfect size. CANT WAIT TO GET MINE!!!
The 6 is definitely designed to be at the outer limits of 1 handed operation for normal man's hands.

It is a measurable improvement over my 5 with regards to industrial design and overall fit/finish and handfeel IMO

I went to Best Buy just to hold the two models, as I'm sure my 6+ won't be here anytime soon. I'm very glad I didn't get the 6. Just seems too small. The improvement in size over my 5S wasn't significant enough for me.

But hey, that's the great thing about them selling two models.

So because of the better visual voicemail, I think I may be going back to iphone

Will opt for the 6+

For someone walking into the stores. Can I pretty much expect to wait 3-4 weeks?

I'd have to get real lucky to walk into a Radioshack and find one today having not pre-ordered, yes?

Sorry - since I've been using Samsung, I've never had this problem and have no idea how this works. I guess only pre-order people are going to get theirs for the next few weeks but I have a unique situation that is going to make it so I can only purchase in an AT&T Store.

Will take any thoughts....

JB, although the plus sounds in limited supply can't hurt to take a shot at a few different places in your area, call ahead. Start with the shack and even try Atnt stores. I've walked into ATnT for a 4 and 5 with no preorder and had them on release day, you could get lucky and wouldnt be surprised if you found one. Even wal marts, best buy or costcos.

Haven't gotten a 6 yet, but bought my wife her 5C on release day last year at Walmart. The good thing about Walmart is they charge sales tax on the subsidized price, not the full retail price (well that was the case on two different occasions with the 5C). Big savings!!!

Verizon did this too.. I only paid tax on the subsidized prize (thankfully, as TN has almost 10% sales tax.

I have one on order, but I was curious and called the 2 radio shacks that are close by.... FWIW, one of them flat out said no more 6+, but the other one said "you can come in and see what's left tomorrow after we fill the pre-orders".

One "authorized" ATT dealer has a Gold plated regular 6 (128 gb). I'm assuming cost would be through the roof but I'll be eligible at the 2 year upgrade price.

I'm wondering if it's worth checking out.

He also doesn't expect to see at 6+ until November at this rate. He was exagerrating a bit but it seems like those will be tough to come by.

Been playing with this thing all day and just noticed something...

no fingerprints on the glass

Maybe that oleophobic coating works?

so someone rings my bell 10 minutes ago and asks if i received a package from ups by mistake. He says its "this" big ( same exact size as the box for the phone). Trying to rob iPhones?

where do you guys buy your iPhone insurance from? Directly from Apple?

I'm doing the new "iPhone for Life" program from Sprint ($50 month, unlimited everything) so I have to turn the phone in at the end of 2 years, thus insurance is a possibility for me for the first time.

How do you guys have $60 bills from Verizon?

Mine was always 120. One line, one phone.
Check out the website:Single line plan:

2GB data w/ unlimited talk/text : $60 ($15/GB overage)

Basically it's the $60 1GB plan with 1 free Gb of data. It's a beast of a plan I found while prepping to move over to the iPhone 6.

Talking to some reps, it's specifically timed for

the iPhone 6 launch to steal customers.... It's

working. It's a pretty exceptional plan for one of the big two.
Think I can switch to this after I get the phone?
just signed up, thanks for the info!

So, take this FWIW....I was at my ATM and they had an advertisement for "Apple Pay" and that it was coming soon. I thought it pretty interesting given our company's position on security, so I call a BA buddy of mine and find out he's working on the project. It's still a few months out but our organization was not going to work with Apple on it until they came up with some significant security solutions. They were at a standstill for a few months because Apple was not doing the needful to make things safe. It put our organization at too much risk so it was nixed until Apple came back with this model that they have now of passing some Apple generated number back and forth. It puts all the security on Apple to protect the accounts registered with them. I still don't have all the details, but I plan on having lunch with my buddy next week. Will report back when I get the goods.

BOA?

2hr30mins after unplugging: 50% battery life. Though that was very active use with iCloud restoring photos in the background....

Yep... Gonna need a battery case for this one too

Iphone 5s iOS8 with the SwiftKey keyboard....love it but when you open a new text message you have to scroll down to the latest message every time. Very annoying.

Whoa.

That's not good for a brand new phone no matter what you're doing.

Would be interested to hear experience of others as well.

Stopped in at AT&T after lunch and they had 6's for sale but no 6+'s. They had only four 6+'s for the public this morning.

I put the 6+ in my pocket and it seems fine.

Set up 1 6 for Mrs. Osaurus. Visual voice mail was a bit if a hassle to set up, but it finally switched over. Had to delete number from AT&T microcell and toggle airplane mode a few times to get it connected. Really like this phone and impressed overall so far

Haven't set it up yet and Verizon got the better of me for now but I have a 6 in hand and will be getting to it later.

The 4.7" is plenty for me. Went in looking for a 64GB silver version. Girl tells me that they have the 64GB in silver and black. SWEET! Comes out and they only have the 64GB in gold. Argh! But, they have the silver in 128GB. Wasn't expecting to spend this amount today nor was I expecting to get the bigger phone but I did. She tried selling me a case/charger bundle but told her that she sold me on the bigger one so I'll pass on that. To Amazon I go for a case.

My cancelled contract was $114 but I have to watch my bill to make sure ATT doesn't charge me some crazy number. Verizon gave me $120 for my phone so I'm okay with that. Just have to set it up now.

This store had ~12 6+'s and I was able to check it out earlier today. Too big for my liking.

This phone is amazing.
Yep. Size wise, I think 4.7 may be the sweet spot. I won't begrudge folks for going larger if they want it to be their tablet as well, but for those who already have an iPad mini for in bed or on the couch browsing, the 6 is a PERFECT device.

Noticed this also. It randomly reverts back to the English keyboard after switching apps. It hasn't annoyed me enough yet to ditch it. It's a fun app.

It's locking up text messaging too much. It was fun, but adios.

Anybody get the 6+ yet? Curious to hear thoughts on it from hands on experience.
It's big. Like really big. Too big to be in my front pocket if I'm sitting down. But it's awesome. Really awesome

Might make me try Swype since I was a beta tester back in the day on Android.
