The Apple iPhone Thread (11 Viewers)

Best Buy had virtually zero cases for either phone. The Verizon place had not a great selection.

Almost bought this http://store.griffintechnology.com/iphone-6/survivor-slim-for-iphone-6 just to have something for now. But, I think Amazon will be the place to go. Otterbox didn't have the color selection anywhere either. They do have color options but not in the store.

My only priority is that a screen protector comes with the case. If the link above had a few different color options (they have all black), I could go that route. It was pretty good but the color is kind of scheiße.

Anybody get the 6+ yet? Curious to hear thoughts on it from hands on experience.
It's big. Like really big. Too big to be in my front pocket if I'm sitting down. But it's awesome. Really awesome
Got to play with both at Costco today. The 6+ is huge! The 6 is still on the small side, IMO. But vastly better than my 5. Can't wait to get my hands on my 6+. Both phones are insanely light. The rounded edges are a great touch.

Messed around with a few of them today.

As a Note user, I'm actually debating just going with the regular 6. I just like the feel of it better.

The 6+ is cool, but that home button at the bottom takes up much more room than the the Notes does. At a phone that big, I think I would want all screen.

The 6 was just right, and perfect for one of those wallet cases that I didn't know existing.

They had 2 - 128 GB Gold ones at an authorized ATT dealer, I think I'm gonna go with the grey though. The gold doesn't seem very "manly".

Figured I'd come home and order the 64 gb at the ATT website online. 21-35 business days to ship :loco:

Guess I'll just relax a bit and wait a few weeks

Setting my 6 up now. I am hoping I don't have the same issues with my microcell as I did with Mrs. Osaurus' 6 last night. :fingerscrossed:

Looking at them now. They look nice and I like the fact you can take the phone out of the wallet. My last phone I had a wallet case for it and never used the wallet side of it. The case was to tight to begin with so if I had used the wallet, it may have become too loose to not close.

I like the idea of this one and am looking for a case to get still. Can't decide. Saw your post and would probably order one today. Huge problem is they don't ship until late October. That sucks.

This is sweet. Regular 6, screen clarity is insane.
BatsyAny indication if any stores around you have any? I live a few minutes away iirc.

Shoot me a message if you see anything out there.
PM sent gb, I'll keep my eyes open.
Thanks GB got the message and good to know. I know that spot very well. Only a few mins away.

I'm okay being patient here while you guys get all the first editions that have problems and I'll swoop in for the fully functional 2nd press

Biggest drawback for the 6+ is what you said. Had Apple limited the space for the home button and the ear piece and made the phone shorter while keeping the same screen size... many more people would be going that route. For me, the 6+ is just too wide though. The 6, like you said, is just about perfect size.

I have to say, I was a apple guy from the original to the 4s. I loved them still do. However it amazes me the stuff you all are getting wet over.... Galaxies have had for years. The note and edge is simply a better phone. I'm not hating just amazed at the marketing job apple has done. If not for the note iPhone screens would still be tiny. Now go ahead and hate on me.

It is what it is man. I've wanted a bigger screen sure, just haven't felt like bothering learning a whole new interface/tranfer nonsense from an "older" guy. It's just really not at the top of the list for things to conquer. It's a reliable piece of technology, and that's all I really give a crap about. Now gtf off my lawn!!!

Went through my wallet. I have four cards that I think I should carry all the time especially if I do not carry much cash.

1. I.D.

2. credit card

3a. debit card

3b. health insurance card

Car insurance card can be taken out of the wallet and kept in the car. Also, can scan/picture it into my phone.

Blood donor card can be done similar to car insurance however that could be kept in the car as well.

Gas "gift" card and gas "bonus" card can be kept in the car or even at home unless I need to fill up.

Does this seem reasonable?

My dad carries about 20 cards so there is a big difference there.

If you carry a copy of Leviticus 19:28, you don't need to carry debit cards and ID's and whatnot,

I've come to the conclusion this phone is crap. I'm going to get some REAL widgets that make my home screen look like a geocities website from 1996.

have the 6+ coming but based on what everyone is saying here i think i'm gonna sell it to get a normal 6. probably too big for normal use.
Been playing with my wife's 6+ this evening and while I originally thought it was HUGE, after playing with it for a couple of hours, it is truly incredible. The screen size is great and the phone feels great in the hand...and my hands aren't huge. I don't want to go back to my 5s.

I use an Incipo stowaway case that holds three cards. I carry my ID, credit card and debit card. For my health insurance card, I take a picture of the front and back of the card and keep the photos stored on my phone.

Are we talking 3 cards with room for cash or a possible 4th card or is that going to be its max (@3)? How much more thick is the whole thing to carry and whatnot?

I am surprised that the Otterbox Commuter wallet isn't even able to be ordered yet. These cases should have been out and ready to go. Early bird gets the worm and many of the cases I have looked at already are meh! The Otterboxes look good but are bulky as well although I have not held one, just looked. I have been impressed with the Incipio's I have seen.

Thought I'd try to hit the att store when they opened.

The apple store at the mall has plenty but can't do att upgrades for some reason.

Of course the line is out the door.

Ridiculous. Just going to have to order this thing and wait

Yup

Animals. Doors open in 6 minutes and they are lined up around the block. Not worth the aggravation.

In the Incipio case, you can also fit a twenty folded in thirds, but that is it. No room for a fourth card. Their cases are really low profile, so put three cards on the back of your phone and that's essentially the added thickness along with a thin layer of plastic for the case. The case for my 5 was thinner than my wife's Otterbox case for her 5s. The 6 stowaway case isn't available for a week or so, but I've already pre-ordered it. The 5 stowaway was perfect for me. I hate carrying a separate wallet, but I also don't want a bulky wallet case or anything that covers the front of the phone. Hopefully I feel the same about the 6 case, which is essentially the same design. Added plus is that the back cover can be used as a stand.Edit: I've always carried my cash loose in my front pocket, even when I used a wallet. So no need for me to store money in my phone case. That may not work for you.

I stuck it out:

ATT had none

Verizon across the street had plenty.

I thought about switching to Verizon because ATT's plans are so focused on the NEXT deal that you actually pay MORE on a monthly basis if you just want to buy the phone outright and/or commit to a 2 year contract. I couldn't believe it.

Oh I also have a shared plan with my Wi-Fi hotspot for a combined 10 GB per month. I usually use 6-7

I wanted to drop to 8 per month, it costs 10 dollars more as well.

I was ready to switch to Verizon today but was nervous to do so on the spot as I don't know what my liability is for early term fees with ATT.

Since I'm technically on the current next plan, one would think zero fees, but I guess I just don't trust it.

I wasn't on the next plan or at least I don't believe I was. I don't trust them for what they say either but I had an online conversation with someone from ATT and my "fee" to get out of my contract was $114. All I have to do now is to check my bill for the next month to make sure I was only charged that amount.

ATT has been nickle and diming for awhile now. The new plans you mentioned doesn't surprise me.

Ok

Well I have the regular iphone 6

I love it.

I now have some questions as a former Samsung guy for the past years.

I synced my outlook and gmail and my contacts turned into Gobbeldy #### (wtf is this censored, pronounced Guck)

Seriously....it's like every person I've sent an email through outlook over the past 8 years, irrespective of whether or not they are actual OFFICIAL Outlook contacts.

This is bull####. I don't feel like going through and trying to sort each and everyone.

I have like 50 Outlook Contacts, and my phone now is showing 300+ of varying information (some just an email address, some just pure gibberish)

Anything from email addresses to names with no email addresses. Someone tell me how to auto-organize this crap or I will break this phone, so help me god.

FYI Verizon is granting early upgrades for the iPhone 6....
How? I have an upgrade coming on 10/9 and they told me I could not pre-order and had to wait until the 9th. As an aside, I was in the store on day one of pre-orders and ordered a 6 for my wife who already had an upgrade available. Her current ship date is 10/7. The Verizon rep said they get shipments, but won't know when or how many (due to security reasons, she said), but said I may be able to get one in stock on the 9th.
You are eligible.... It's anyone eligible on or before November 15th! Call back:

http://www.businessinsider.com/verizon-iphone-6-early-upgrade-promotion-2014-9

"As a special thank you to our existing customers, all Verizon customers who would be eligible to upgrade on or before November 15th have had their upgrade dates changed to become upgrade eligible immediately. These customers can now upgrade to any device currently in our lineup, with new two year contract. Customers should check My Verizon to confirm upgrade eligibility."
Thanks again for the heads up on this. Called Verizon today and placed my order. Its not set to arrive until 10/21, but I am guessing this is much earlier than if I'd waited until 10/9 to initiate the upgrade. I will lose my unlimited data plan, but they offered to replace it with a 6GB plan for a penny more than I am paying for unlimited per month. I doubt I will eer get close to the 6GBs. Now, to see if folks are getting theirs earlier than projected.
I bet they did. You could have sold your unlimited plan on Ebay. They are going for even more than when I sold mine. 1 line is going for $500.

http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_sacat=0&_nkw=verizon+unlimited+data+plan&LH_Complete=1&LH_Sold=1&rt=nc
How does this work?
Here's some info:

http://verizonforums.com/threads/sell-your-verizon-unlimited-data-plan-keep-your-number.363163/#axzz3Dijvfq8B

Also you can look at the sales on ebay, the details are posted with each auction.

Don't just give up your unlimited plan. It is definitely worth $$.
Does this work for AT&T too? How? :oldunsure:

I'm planning to drop my unlimited and switch to 10GB shared with wife. Drops our total from $180 to $130. But apparently I should somehow sell and transfer grandfathered plan first?

Edit: Wait, that means selling my phone number right? Ehh... sounds tedious.

Would love if one of you can apple guys can help me with why this has happened.

This is annoying enough to just bring the phone back. It's really bad.
