How can I load movies onto the iPhone? I used DVDFAB to save it as an MP4 and can access it in iTunes but when I try to sync, it doesn't send it to the phone. And Sundays Rule, I think you're screwed unless you got some kind of insurance on it. Yes/No?
Select the movie in iTunes. Then under ADVANCED select Convert Selection For iPod/iPhone. It creates a duplicate of the video which you can then drag onto your iPhone in the sidebar.ETA: The video will be on your iPhone under iPod/Videos.
I tried that but it comes up with the error saying "One of more videos were not converted because they are already in the correct format"
And that movie won't transfer to your iPhone? My first suggestion would be to make sure you're running the latest version of iTunes, QuickTime and the iPhone OS.

Never mind, I got it. I did a drag/drop from the Library to Devices and now it's transferring. :bye:

Well I dropped it already after a month, had it in a rubber ballistic case and it looks like the LCD underneath is cracked. The screen is completely dead, it's all white and the phone isn't working. What do the Apple store guys usually do about this. Do I have to buy a whole new one.
From what I've heard a free replacement is probably doubtful, but they may offer you a slightly lower price on a replacement.

Well I was screwed alright dropS aren't covered under the warranty. So pissed off, pretty much just bought a new phone. I haven't dropped it all month and I was so meticulous with It and this is what I get. I didn't even get one lucky bounce, first drop and disaster.

What kind of insurance can I get on this thing. I dont want to get burned again. The guy told me Apple and ATT dont provide insurance.

It was in one of those rubber sleeves by incase. Doesnt cover the screen so it it falls on the face your screwed. However I dont think it did, the glass was spotless not a scratch on it but the LCD beneath it was clearly cracked. My guess is it fell on its side and jarred it. Lesson number one, dont drop it. These things are as fragile as a babys bottom and no case is real protection in case of a drop.

In the market for an iphone. I'm a current AT&T subscriber and I have until May before I can get a new phone at the reduced rates. I'm not one that can wait once I make a decision to buy. Is there anyway I can talk AT&T into allowing me to get a new phone at a reduced rate? The one I have is hard to charge (at times), has some reception issues, and just plain sux. $300 is different than $500.

Where's the best place to buy? Apple store, best buy, AT&T store? (gonna have to unload my ipod touch now)

Anything else I need to know? Any hidden fees with getting this? My current plan should be good enough, I'll just have to extend the plan to the unlimited data plan....I assume line #2 doesn't need anything added to it.

A few months in and I'm loving the 3G...

Nice apps seem to come out every few days....

LOVE Pandora...and now Stanza for some ebooks....

Nice product! Got one for my wife...her old treo 700p she never used to its potential. The iphone she loves....

So am I the only one here who jailbroke their phone?BTW, I'm loving Real Soccer 2009
Never jailbroke mine...what advantages from that? More programs? Other network?I heard that soccer game was good! I got the Star Wars Unleashed game...meh...6/10.

Well, you can install any program on there you want, if you have the ability to find cracked apps, you can do that easily, or you can install other free programs, that apple has not authorized, using Cydia. It just allows more flexibility regarding the use of your phone, that apple inherently limits.

may be premature but since I skipped the 3G model - wanted the 32Gig - any word on when the next wave of iphones will come out? Don't they do a new version every 6 months or so?

The latest update fixed all the annoying problems I was having. Also the "Sportacular" Ap is a must have
New update helped a lot for sure. I still get bad reception, dropped calls, and failed calls pretty often though. My browser crashes a lot as well. That's understandable, it's a phone after all, but the call quality is starting to annoy me.

Anyone know where to get free ring tones? Can you just edit any song into under 30 sec to use? If so are there any free, and easy to use programs to cut music up?

If you have a Mac you can use Garage Band to convert any song or sound file into a ringtone. No idea on a PC.

1. Take any song in itunes and if you don't want to mess with the timing, right click and choose "convert selection to aac" and a new version of the song will appear just below the old one.2. Right click the song and go under "Options" and "Start Time" as well as "End Time" and pick which part of the song that you want to make into a ringtone. (It seems the general consensus with this is under 30 sec.)3. Once you've selected what part of the song you want, click OK. After this you need to again "convert selection to aac" for the new version of your shortened song.4. With the new clip, right click and select "Show in Windows Explorer."5. Once the file is shown in Windows, rename the file from ".m4a" to ".m4r". (It was stated above how to enable windows to show file extensions.)6. Once renamed, double-click on the file and the new ringtone will beging to play in iTunes and you are ready to sync and enjoy your new tone.

Safari seems to crash for me every time I am on it lately. Anyone else experiencing that?
Crashing a lot on me as well. I'm using a jailbroken phone though, so I can't really complain, but it sucks.
It should make you feel better that mine is not jailbroken and it crashes. My wife will send me forwards some times and the message says that I can not open the content. Is there something to change this. I dont really care that much because I rarely read them but it is frustrating

Not sure if anyone wants to try the mobile me feature but Apple is running a 60 day free trial. If you sign up today, you have until December 16th.

I signed up but so far I have sent myself 3 test emails and not one has pushed to my phone and I have push on in settings. Not sure if it is just something I am not doing right but it hardly seems worth the 100 bucks a year and I have had it for a half hour.

Ill play with it some more but so far unimpressed

I gotta say the iPhone 3G is holding up well against the new product offerings. One thing I continue to read about in comparisons is how well Apple implemented the touch screen and how response the OS is. Compared to the WinMo 6.1 offerings even with faster processors the iPhone's OS is still zippier. It will probably hold that competitive advantage until WinMo 8 comes out which is not slated until Q4 2009 at the earliest.

Although I did just read the G1 has a capacitive touch screen so maybe the corner is a little closer then I calculated depending on how fast Google can mature their OS and get more appealing units to use their OS.

Nokia 5800 (tube) - This may have a capacitive touch screen with haptic feedback.

I would like to erase all the damn emails I have but it takes forever. One by one. Then, after I'm done deleting them, I have to go through them again, one by one, to erase them for good.

Then, it loads up another 50 old emails I don't want it to load, so the cycle never ends.

There must be an easier way...

:goodposting:

Hit edit and then just check the emails you want to delete and hit the red delete button

Mine probably crashes one in five times I use it.Also, in Chicago, the 3G reception is so bad, sometimes it takes about 5 mins to load a webpage. I cannot make a call with 3G enabled or it will fail or drop about 80% of the time.I'm starting to get pretty frustrated.

Any ETA or buzz on the next version? Its been a few months now - thought we usually here something every few months after its issued.

I know that, that's why I was saying one by one. I'd rather there was "check all" option. Then, you go through them one by one again to delete them from trash. Takes awhile. And since I have a few thousand under 3 accounts for some reason, it just keeps reloading another 50 spot each time. :wall:

I'm getting fired up for the the BB Storm. The lack of cut/paste on the iPhone is a dealbreaker for me. I use my phone a ton for work and I have to be able to cut/paste product numbers from email to apps.

LONG overdue.

Anyone found a good RSS reader for the iPhone? Google Reader is honestly the best I've used so far. I've got a bookmark to it set up on my springboard.

Griffin Air Curve

I've mentioned before that my BIL works for Griffin, and he got me one last thing before he's switching jobs. This little gadget amplifies your iphone speaker so you can use it as a radio. Now I don't have to cut a hole in the bottom of a dixie cup when I'm at the pool. :hophead: It makes it like 2x-3x as loud as the existing speaker.

Just got an iPhone today... thought I'd throw this out there (apologies if it's already been posted): Easily Create Your Own Ringtones For Free. Even easier and faster than the manual method posted a few pages back, and you can even take the sound from YouTube clips.
Also wanted to add that there are a ton of free ringtones availabe here... a lot of good ones.
I have used the other method posted and didn't have any problems at all for ringers I already created, but I will check this out and love the idea of all those free ringtones. ;)

How do you get rid of junk texts? I thought I saw a link somewhere in the FFA about it but I can't find it now.

:towelwave:

A couple of questions for you iphone owners.

Is it true you cannot receive pictures via "texting", any other problems texting?

Anyone tried buying an unlocked phone? How is it working out?

How is AT & T? I am in a heavy verizon area.

Thanks in advance........
