Don't worry about it - LOTS of high school girls use over 200 texts a month. You aren't alone.I'm somewhat embarrassed to admit that 200 text messages a month probably isn't sufficient.![]()

So there's something that's not "turned on" for you to use Exchange unless you pay the extra $15 a month, I guess.Correct - Exchange integration requires the extra $15/month.I think it said the business plan is only for if you need Microsoft Outlook and access to your company's intranet.Correct, you have to add a text plan. What I'm still not clear on is the two data plan differences. Don't you get unlimited use with the $30 plan? Why is the $45 plan there for "business" use?I'm confused by the Data Plan. Does that not include text messages?
I email rather than text. I really don't see the point of texting.I'm in the 1000+ texts per month range. Don't feel bad Stu - it's the old farts that rail against texting thinking they are so cool, when really, they are dinosaurs living in the past.

Any idea why my company still does not allow iPhones to be used within our organization? They said there are security flaws in their architecture. I believe we are running BES and they only allow blackberry devices (or WinMo phones with BB Connect) to authenticate with our server. Not so, exchange integration can be done on the typical plan. The 45 plan is for someone who self-professes to have heavy data usage and primarily use phone for work. Generally, these guys phones will be paid for by their employer, so they don't care.I have a $30 plan and I'm on exchange server.Correct - Exchange integration requires the extra $15/month.I think it said the business plan is only for if you need Microsoft Outlook and access to your company's intranet.Correct, you have to add a text plan. I heard a while back that some companies don't want their employees to have phones with cameras. Not sure what the issue would be if the blackberry's your company uses have cameras though.Any idea why my company still does not allow iPhones to be used within our organization? The reason I am justifying getting a 32gb phone is for storing lots of video. Going on a few week vacation and it'd be nice to just carry around iphone for some low-resolution video's that I can send via email back home. Greetings from *wherever*. I assume video clips will take up a fair amount of room, plus the plane flights will be long so I'll download some movies to take with me for the trip. The longer battery life on the 3Gs will come in handy.I am regretting, ordering the 32gb... i just have hit my 8gb set as it is.... i see no reason to keep a bunch of video permanently on the device..pretty much cause I am sure i will want to upgrade once eligible (hoping less than 18 months from nowAny estimate on how much of the 16GB will be left for songs/videos after loading address book and installing some apps? I'm wondering if it might be worth the extra $100 to double the capacity.)
Thanks for the correction - guess they saw me coming at the AT&T store. Not so, exchange integration can be done on the typical plan. The 45 plan is for someone who self-professes to have heavy data usage and primarily use phone for work. I ordered the 16GB since I have a 120GB ipod, but I might just bite the bullet if they let me upgrade on the spot and pay the extra $100 for the 32GB.The reason I am justifying getting a 32gb phone is for storing lots of video. No prob...I was worried about this when I got the 3G.To be certain, when you get to the desk, feel free to ask, but like I said, I'm using exchange with my $30 account, and I see, nor have heard, any indication of a way they can limit it.Thanks for the correction - guess they saw me coming at the AT&T store. Not so, exchange integration can be done on the typical plan. The 45 plan is for someone who self-professes to have heavy data usage and primarily use phone for work. [python] I'm not old... I'm 37 [/python] I was just messin' with Stu - Actually my wife and I both typically overrun our 200 plan by a bit every month, but not enough to make it cost-effective to move to the next tier (which I believe is like 1200 texts/month. THAT is HS girl territory right there). I'll admit I have no idea how someone could consistently send over 1000 texts in a month. Texting is fine & all that - but I also value the idea of speaking to people on the (cell) phone once in a while. Maybe getting the iPhone will change all of that. Can't upgrade my software to 3.0 because the activation server is temporarily unavailable. ####. I guess it's getting slammed right now. I'm 30 and send well over 1000 texts per month. Probably over 2000. I text much more than I call people in general.[python] I'm not old... I think a lot depends on your friends - all of my friends text as well. Often, if I call them, they won't pick up. But text them, and they reply right away. Working in a restaurant, you can't be on your phone talking, but you can sneak in quick texts pretty easily.I'm 30 and send well over 1000 texts per month. Probably over 2000. unplug the iphone and then replug, it took me 4 times of doing thisdownloading 3.0 now

I tried again and my phone is just restarting now with 3.0my apps are all scrambled from were they were. Apple needs a better system for organizing appsunplug the iphone and then replug, it took me 4 times of doing thisdownloading 3.0 now

Oh man. I'd be pissed.I have a bad combonation of Installing 3.0, and re-formatting my computer. Now I cannot connect to iTunes to authorize my account, so when I synched up, all of my apps were removed from my phone.I am a tad P.O'd right now!
I love this, although I can't seem to update any of my apps, it keeps saying their was an error.Another nice subtle addition in 3.0 is under Recent Calls. Instead of just showing the name of your recent calls, it will show you the name, and in tiny print under the name, it'll show you which phone they called from. mobile, home, office...etc. Nice touch as sometimes I will call someone back by clicking the name, after I get off work, only to have it call their work phone instead of their cell phone, because they called me from work. If I knew they had called from work, and it is after work, I'd have called them on their cell, but oh well...this avoids that issue.Previously, you had to click the arrow beside the call, and see which number was highlighted...but now it's much easier to see.
9to5Mac points out that AT&T also announced a welcome piece of news for existing and future iPhone owners. AT&T now supports Wi-Fi "auto-authentication" in the 3.0 firmware. While iPhone customers have had free access to over 20,000 AT&T Wi-Fi hotspots, accessing them required a somewhat cumbersome two-step authentication process using SMS. The new system will eliminate these steps altogether:Quote:Auto-authentication allows iPhone users to seamlessly switch from AT&T’s 3G network to an AT&T Wi-Fi Hot Spot without being prompted. AT&T customers with qualifying iPhone data plans have unlimited access to the nation’s largest Wi-Fi network — more than 20,000 U.S. AT&T Wi-Fi Hot Spots. The new process eliminates the previous two-step authentication, making it easier and faster for iPhone customers to connect to AT&T Wi-Fi. Auto-connect is established once a customer connects their iPhone to an AT&T Wi-Fi Hot Spot the first time. The new system is available starting today for all existing iPhone customers who have installed iPhone 3.0 and will also be available to iPhone 3G S owners.
For the time being; yes. The 3.0 software itself supports it, but AT&T does not support it as yet.phowler13 said:I know that you could not receive pics/videos via text messaging from friends with other carriers via Verizon. Is this still the case?

Exactly. I absolutely can't stand it - but once AT&T has the MMS 'service' up and running, the iPhone will honestly be pretty much 'perfect' IMO.Did you get an email from Apple at all? I have like 3 regarding my order and shipping.I guess I don't know where to find shipping info for my phone...it still says will be delivered by tomorrow, but I have no tracking info!Damn.
