The Apple iPhone Thread (4 Viewers)

He just showed that mobile browser usage has iPhone at 50+% and android at 22.7%. In other words, a lot of people are about to get roughed up by the ATT data caps.
Doubt many users are over the 2 gig cap. More a result of sheer numbers, user demographic and ease-of-use.
Currently, yes. But I saw some analysis over the weekend that today's power users are tomorrow's normal users. 2GB of Data = 6 hours of streamed video, which isn't all that much considering all the video stuff coming to the mobile space (including the Netflix announcement). True, much of that will happen over Wifi, but the 2G limit is going to be a huge problem for customers as video becomes more ubiquitous.

Agree.

Dont people who have unlimited now get to keep it though. The usage shouldnt matter to them

I have to make a tough decision to stay with OG or move to 4 with usage limits (like I would get the slingbox app)

If you are on wifi, you dont get charged usage, is that correct?

10:44 am 326 ppi. 800:1 contrast ratio also 4x better than 3GS. Uses IPS technology for superb color and wide viewing angle.

10:44 am 3.5" display, same size, 960x640.
This is incredible resolution. Wonder when that screen will make it into the iPad!

Impressive battery life. He keeps saying "3G" browsing and "3G" talk time, though.
Agree - I think he needs either a Verizon announcement or 4G announcement in here as the "oh, and one more thing..."

10:49 am 32GB of storage, quadband HSDPA/HSUPA

10:49 am IPhone 4 environmental report card being showed, is highly recyclable and has nothing nasty in it.

10:48 am Bigger battery plus A4 processor, 40% more talk time. 7 hours talk time. 6 hours of 3G browsing, 10 hours of WiFi browsing, 10 hours of video. 40 hours of music. 300 hours of standby.

Gyroscope is a neat feature
Yeah, lots of possibilities. But I haven't heard any of the "hoped for" things yet except for the phone itself.
Which ones are you waiting for?
4G or Verizon. Not just me, I think that outside of the phone annoucnemtne itself, many folks were waiting for 4G or VZW. These are all very cool features so far and will definitely deliver an improved experience to iPhone users. But so far the "lead off" on tech blogs is going to be about the phone not working properly. 4G or VZW would become the lead if he announced it.

The cloud stuff as well has been hoped for.

Between the iPhone and other phones going to HD video recording...is "Flip" and the like in trouble?
:lmao:
No, because there is a huge market for people who don't want/need a full feature phone. The Flip is popular precisely because its simple to use and has limited functions. It will continue to serve that purpose for a great deal of people.
Also, wouldn't the advantage of better optics and larger sensors benefit the quality of the HD Flips, etc?

:lmao: That "great deal" you're talking about is way less with HD recording on the iPhone now. They're comparable prices yet one is tiny, has other great features and can upload/edit directly on the device. I don't think this will necessarily kill the Flip, etc, but IMO it will put a big dent in sales at least.

Jobs just told everyone to shut off their wifi so they can get more bandwidth for the iOS 4 demo. So much for most of the live blogs. :lmao:
