So much wasted space on the front it seems, thought they'd make it more edge to edge
Currently, yes. But I saw some analysis over the weekend that today's power users are tomorrow's normal users. 2GB of Data = 6 hours of streamed video, which isn't all that much considering all the video stuff coming to the mobile space (including the Netflix announcement). True, much of that will happen over Wifi, but the 2G limit is going to be a huge problem for customers as video becomes more ubiquitous.Doubt many users are over the 2 gig cap. More a result of sheer numbers, user demographic and ease-of-use.He just showed that mobile browser usage has iPhone at 50+% and android at 22.7%. In other words, a lot of people are about to get roughed up by the ATT data caps.
Agreed. That's going to be a very sharp display.326 ppi is iimpressive!
Should be the best display out, the EVO was disappointing with only 216 ppi, both the N1 and Droid were higher.Agreed. That's going to be a very sharp display.326 ppi is iimpressive!

Oof. Someone is gonna turn up dead.10:42 am iPhone 4 now on AT&T, all kinds of error messages about not being connected to the internet popping up on iPhone 4.

Yeah always thought they could minimize both the ear area as well as the button area and give it a wider screen.Really?http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/me...-187-rm-eng.jpgSo much wasted space on the front it seems, thought they'd make it more edge to edge
Has this ever happened beforeOof. Someone is gonna turn up dead.10:42 am iPhone 4 now on AT&T, all kinds of error messages about not being connected to the internet popping up on iPhone 4.![]()
This is incredible resolution. Wonder when that screen will make it into the iPad!10:44 am 326 ppi. 800:1 contrast ratio also 4x better than 3GS. Uses IPS technology for superb color and wide viewing angle.
10:44 am 3.5" display, same size, 960x640.

Which one: tech issues during a keynote or unexplained accidents of people responsible for said tech issues? Answer for both is YES.Has this ever happened beforeOof. Agree - I think he needs either a Verizon announcement or 4G announcement in here as the "oh, and one more thing..."Chunky Soup said:Impressive battery life. He keeps saying "3G" browsing and "3G" talk time, though.![]()
10:49 am 32GB of storage, quadband HSDPA/HSUPA
10:49 am IPhone 4 environmental report card being showed, is highly recyclable and has nothing nasty in it.
10:48 am Bigger battery plus A4 processor, 40% more talk time. 7 hours talk time. 6 hours of 3G browsing, 10 hours of WiFi browsing, 10 hours of video. 40 hours of music. 300 hours of standby.
300 hours of standby time on the battery. Finless will LOVE this phone.

Added a gyroscope.
10:50 am New CoreMotion API's for extremely precise location.
10:50 am Gyro + accelerometer = 6 axis motion sensing.
10:50 am 3 axis gyro for pitch roll and yaw.
10:50 am iPhone 4 has a Gyroscope.
So I pay $18 for an iPhone 4?As a valued customer, we can offer you an upgrade with a new 2-yr commitment and an $18 upgrade fee.
Yeah, lots of possibilities. But I haven't heard any of the "hoped for" things yet except for the phone itself.Gyroscope is a neat feature
He's on #5 of 8 with the Camera now so he still has a few things left....Yeah, lots of possibilities. But I haven't heard any of the "hoped for" things yet except for the phone itself.Gyroscope is a neat feature
Guessing that's an early upgrade fee in addition to the iPhone 4 subsidized price. So I pay $18 for an iPhone 4?As a valued customer, we can offer you an upgrade with a new 2-yr commitment and an $18 upgrade fee.
Which ones are you waiting for?Yeah, lots of possibilities. But I haven't heard any of the "hoped for" things yet except for the phone itself.Gyroscope is a neat feature
4G or Verizon. Not just me, I think that outside of the phone annoucnemtne itself, many folks were waiting for 4G or VZW. These are all very cool features so far and will definitely deliver an improved experience to iPhone users. But so far the "lead off" on tech blogs is going to be about the phone not working properly. 4G or VZW would become the lead if he announced it.Which ones are you waiting for?Yeah, lots of possibilities. Between the iPhone and other phones going to HD video recording...is "Flip" and the like in trouble?

The cloud stuff as well has been hoped for.4G or Verizon. Not just me, I think that outside of the phone annoucnemtne itself, many folks were waiting for 4G or VZW. No, because there is a huge market for people who don't want/need a full feature phone. The Flip is popular precisely because its simple to use and has limited functions. It will continue to serve that purpose for a great deal of people.Between the iPhone and other phones going to HD video recording...is "Flip" and the like in trouble?![]()
So people uploading HD video and downloading Netflix - all on the worlds most congested network - AT&T.
And with pretty limited plans now. I'm hoping that this means other networks are in store for this thing. Also, wouldn't the advantage of better optics and larger sensors benefit the quality of the HD Flips, etc?No, because there is a huge market for people who don't want/need a full feature phone. That "great deal" you're talking about is way less with HD recording on the iPhone now. They're comparable prices yet one is tiny, has other great features and can upload/edit directly on the device. I don't think this will necessarily kill the Flip, etc, but IMO it will put a big dent in sales at least.Engadget still workingJobs just told everyone to shut off their wifi so they can get more bandwidth for the demo. So much for most of the live blogs.![]()
.I'm actually impressed, but it all won't mean a ton if it stays ATT. Here comes Jobs talking about multitasking killing battery. This thing going over like a lead zeppelin today huh. Yikes.
