The Apple iPhone Thread (1 Viewer)

Damn online store is down.
Up, 32g ordered. Looking forward to this.
:hifive: There must be like 65,500 people up early pre-ordering this thing. The site was sloooooooow...Why would they let me upgrade (primary on family plan), but not the other 2 lines who got the same 3G phone I got at the same exact time last year? They aren't eligible until 3/2011.

It's going to be sold out almost everywhere.

Finally got to the order screen and clicked submit, but got an error after 5 minutes. I see the pending charge on my credit card, so the order got in, but I never specified shipping/store pickup.

Maybe I'll stop over at the ATT store during lunch.

Back up and confirmed! :wall:
I just read through the e-mail that I received and noticed that I HAVE to pick up the phone on 6/24 at the store or the reservation will be canceled. I think I may try to see if I can change my order and have it shipped instead. The Apple Store is going to be a madhouse and I don't know if I want to be a part of that....

Look at this! (Insert falsified numbers here)i: DOESN'T MATTER. JOBS WILL FIX IT SO THE iPHONE CAN LAUNCH SPACE SHUTTLES FROM IT'S ANTENNAa: OH yeah...welll FOLDERSS!!!!1!

Anyone heard/read any news about when the white i4 will be available...?
If you're hoping for a white iPhone 4 it looks like you won't be able to pre-order it from Apple or AT&T today. At the time of this writing, both sites are only taking orders for the classic black version of the latest iPhone. It's not clear why the white iPhone 4 is unavailable or whether AT&T and Apple will let you pre-order it later today. But if you really want the white model you may have to take your chances and line up on June 24 at your local Apple Store, AT&T store, Best Buy, Radio Shack or Wal-Mart .http://www.pcworld.com/article/198853/appl...rder_guide.html

I don't get it? The thing sold out everywhere, they should have manufactured more at the release. The phone has been incredibly well received, anyone who has used both an iPhone and EVO knows which is the better phone. The EVO just crushes the current iPhone in a ridiculously unfair way, it's almost embarrassing that some people will try to convince you otherwise (like moderated who clearly has never seen an EVO since he regurgitates the phrase "pixelated")The EVO is a better phone than the iPhone. No contest.
Has this thing killed the iPhone yet or what?CardTrader: Yes it is CRUSHING the iPhone that was released 3 years ago!!! AhahahahHAHAHa!!!

Oh. So you mean it's better than the old iphone?

CardTrader: YESSSS!!! (CERTIFICATES!) YESSS!

Um. Ok. What about the iPhone that's going on sale within a few weeks of the Evo? Shouldn't we compare Apples and, well, Apples?

CardTrader: :D

Is there a reason they had to lie about the Evo sales numbers? They sold 65,000 or so? Apple sales dwarf that. Is that why they lied?

CardTrader: :)

Oh or is it because Apple consumers are morons and buy lesser products?

CardTrader: YESSSSCERTIFICATECYTOKINESTORM+iPHONEKILLAHHH!!!!11111

Mmmhm.
WTF are you talking about? Yes, it's better than the iPhone that's going on sale in a few weeks....Apple spent it's entire dev conference describing their new phone which was basically a mirror image of the EVO but with a smaller screen. Apple will always sell more phones than any individual phone. It certainly doesn't make it better, is that a hard concept for your pea-brain to grasp? And yes, many Apple consumers are morons and buy lesser products.
Not quite sure if its really better at this point. But what I find funny is how iPhone fanboys like to poke at the droid fanboys about comparing just specs...yet they now want to act as if the iPhone 4 will be so great based on what? SPECs...hilarious.

but again, the ongoing fued is funny, they are both really good phones. Who gives a damn if OTIS or others think their phone is better?

Who cares if Card Trader thinks the EVO is better?

Thanks! Looks like I'll be rolling the dice on the 24th :goodposting:

:goodposting: Ooooooook. The new iphone will likely blow the fuzzy monster known as the EVO away. Not even a fair fight. I have only used the evo and not the new iPhone yet but if it can't beat that Gordon gecko sized phone then I'll never post again.
Fuzzy...hilarious.And based on your comments, its pretty obvious you have never even touched the EVO.And it certainly is a fair fight...but you will never see it that way.

This. I think the iPhone is a great device and I really like Apple products. I chose not to get one beause there were some things missing I needed in the first few iterations (copy/paste, multi-tasking, push email, etc.). Every time I looked to get a new phone, I had some hesitation on the iPhone. I got an EVO last week and really like the device, but that's because it worked out well for me and what I need it to do. Both are great devices. Like picking Kobe or Lebron, there isn't really a wrong answer.

Apple's little ploy to drive potential customers to pre-order an iPhone just backfired with me. All along, Apple has said that the white version would be available for orders on June 15th. Strangely, that's not the case.

That's called 'bait and switch', and there are very good laws against this kind of activity.

EVO here I come....

Ive been looking at both devices.Everyone I know who has an iPhone here loves it, but complains about AT&T. Those who have had Sprint android phones love them, but complain about Sprint. (for me, I have never had a problem with Sprint anywhere I have been so I am hesitant to leave them).Verizon guys, love them and thats fine...im looking to see what the new droids they come out with are like too.But the back and forth bickering is hilarious.

You have to wait if you want the cooler phone so no point in ordering now.
Glad you're not using your awful logic you used with the iPad and wifi/3G. Didn't want another debacle from you.

Well, doesn't look like the iPhone 4 will sell as well as years past.

iPhone 4 Pre-Orders Bring Down Servers and Generate Long Lines

iPhone 4 pre-orders kicked off today and have been causing trouble for Apple's online ordering system which has been up and down throughout the morning. In fact, we are still receiving reports of U.S. customers being unable to fulfill the order forms online.

Boy Genius Report has also heard that AT&T's own internal network has been brought down by the crush.

In Japan, reports indicate that many physically lined up throughout the country just to get on the wait list. Softbank also found their servers struggling to keep up with demand while hundreds stood in line:

Softbank spokesman Furuya Katsuhide said that the better-than-expected demand had stressed the company's systems, which slowed both its website and the reservation process at stores.

Businessinsider also notes lines forming at AT&T stores in the U.S.

Did people claim it wouldn't sell as well? Just about everyone with a 3g and 3gs will upgrade, hell, you'd be crazy not to. That's a ton of sales right there. What might be interesting is to see the marketshare boost that Apple gets, if any, from the new phone.

Existing Iphone users who upgrade really won't tell you anything because why wouldn't you upgrade? What will be telling and more important will be the new sales from users who never had an iphone.

How much better do we think the iPhone4 is going to be than the 3Gs? Especially given that the 3Gs will have the updated OS with multitasking, folders, etc.

Better screen, better processor, front facing camera, camera with a flash, gyroscope, etc. Seems to be exponentially better.

Yep, the EVO looks great, but I had to go outside to make a call when I had Sprint so I went with the iPhone. Everyone uses a phone differently and most consumers probably base their decision on just a handful of features instead of picking the phone that is better across the board. Some people want a big screen and a kickstand to watch video and some prefer having access to iTunes, etc. It's even funnier considering there's probably no one here that has had the opportunity to see both phones in person to make an accurate comparison. But Kobe is definitely better than Lebron...

See, at my house its different. With Sprint I have not noticed a dead spot in my friend's house (less than a mile from me...using his house because he has an iPhone and AT&T), I have been talking to him as he loves his iPhone and his only complaint is the few dead spots in his house. At the house its not a big deal as anything I would be doing in the house (other than phone calls) would likely hit my wifi correct? Well, I don't use my phone much in my house for calls. So that is not a deal breaker at all.But in other areas, at least around Nashville, I have not been hearing great things about AT&T.Its probably similar to Sprint to some, but I think its more of a going with the service I know (Sprint) where I have not had many issues, to one I don't know where there are a few issues.
