There was a shift from iphone 3GS to 4 as well... but it was achieved via a change in technology (pixel density). Apple follows a strict KISS policy when it comes to screen resolutions on iOS devices because they want to keep it easy for developers.... and they want to make sure things look their best (scaled art, generally speaking, looks like crap compared to fixed-pixel design). IF they move to a larger screen, it will require an overhaul of all apps in the ecosystem... not 1 generation after requiring it again with the iPhone 4's move to retina display. What do you mean by this? There was certainly a shift from ipad2 to 3 which would suggest something else. Really they have never released a device to my knowledge with a scaled dpi, right?I'm with you. I like that I can reach the entire screen with my thumb while holding it in one hand (without doing any major contorting or using some crazy grip that might cause me to drop it).I think the newer phones are too big.![]()
There are differing opinions on this but the fact that the iPhone is still the best selling phone by a large...large margin seems to indicate that the size isn't too much of a concern. Not saying apple won't look into a bigger screen, but I don't see it coming in the form of a much bigger device. I could see them reducing the bezel a bit, but honestly any screen shift is going to cause issues with screen resolutions. Apple is big on fixed pixel sizes on their products for maximum image quality. I don't see them simply adjusting the size by a few hundred pixels in either direction.
I'm not saying they won't do it... I'll just be surprised if they do.
I was at a wedding this weekend and a guy had an Evo. Comparing it with my iPhone, I loved the extra real estate that the Evo had.:fingerscrossed:
you should also make sure your mail is not constantly fetching, that will kill the #### out of your battery.
