I have a 6+. If my job pays for a new phone, I will take it. But this thing works great still. Why would somebody pay $1400 for an iPhone X? Seems insane.

I have a 128GB iPhone 6. If I were to upgrade to an 8 (three year old phone), I better get a good price on my phone. If I go in there and they want to give me $200 for my phone, I will laugh and walk out. The phone is in pristine condition as I never drop it and the screen is perfect. They want to give me $400... that is a fair deal and lets me think about something.

Before thinking about a 'trade-in' I had planned on giving my current phone (32 gb iPhone 6) to one of my kids. All I really need to do is replace the battery (it drains quickly) and I can do that for about $60. I wonder if anything they would give me would cover what I would have to pay for a new (to me) phone.
I had been doing the AT&T lease program where you pay x amount each month and after a year or two, you can just trade it in for a new phone, I kept it longer and ended up paying for the whole thing. So I'm used to paying a bit on my phone bill for the phone, I just wonder how much more it is would cost me for the new one! I have an heir and a spare, so I could give up a child...

When I got my 6, I went on day one and didn't have a problem. I had to go with the 128GB model but I was able to get the phone on day 1 and that was in the evening. No wait or anything like that, no preorder.

I've been sleeping in line at the Apple Store for 2 weeks with regular resupply runs of Conflict-free Chai Tea, and assorted gluten-free artisan nourishment from my freinds and family. I AM running a bit low on pomade and beard oil, however.

For those who have taken advantage of trade-in/up deals from carriers like verizon in the past... do these deals generally coincide with the main launch/pre-order date? I'd rather capitalize on a trade-in deal if possible. They usually announced right after the Apple event?

This is what I am waiting for on my oldest son's phone. My 6+ just got the touch screen death and for the $100 or so fix fee they just gave me a new 6 plus (basically a Frankenstein of good parts). His 6 is withering in terms of battery life since we both got them right when they came out. My battery seems worse lately but hard for me to tell sometimes with the kids.
Anyway, I recall AT&T did the $650 trade in deal right when the new ones came out last year. Unfortunately, I was a dummy and missed it because that would have been more than a great price to upgrade. I've actually got a 6 sitting in my drawer since the trade in price for my wife at the time was like $100. Was worth it more as a backup. I've got 5 phones on my plan so watching the trade in deals.
