The Audible - interview with Keith Rivers (1 Viewer)

Cecil-

Sounds like you caught him on the run there. But good interview. Rivers comes across as a confident but humble kid. Did you gather that impression from him? That he's be the humble and hard-working more blue-collar type player, despite coming from such an elite program? He comes across as a fairly articulate and thoughtful guy. But I love what he says about looking to earn respect on every play.

The 40 time and vertical jump#s from his pro day are more than solid. How'd he look turning and covering specifically. Did you get a chance to look at that part of his work there? His play on film speaks for will speak for itself. Im interested because I wonder if New England would be looking to take him as high as 7, or possibly 10 if they make a move with New Orleans if they swing a trade. What kindof 'wow' factor might he have had on this day?

Good stuff there for us on Rivers. Thank you.

Hey Twitch.I caught him RIGHT after he finished and yeah he was a little tired. He was a little disappointed by his performance but most of the scouts I talked to were pretty happy. I didn't see him do any cover drills, so I can't speak to that beyond what I have seen in games. He might have run some, but there was a point I was running after a few people - they were doing a couple drills at the same time, so there were points I had to pick and choose what I was doing.Saints have been reported to be very interested in him - so a trade up could happen if just to jump in front of Cinci who are in desperate need of LB improvement. Wouldn't stun me if the Pats took him at 7, though there might be better value at other positions, they could use youth at the position. They have other needs some might consider bigger. All I know is, after every timed drill, I heard people talking about him in glowing terms. At least one very well known analyst turned towards me and said 'there's a top ten, right there'. So people liked what they saw. I think his 'wow' factor was pretty high yesterday. Now you can argue whether it's a weak LB class or which of the guys could be considered better - Mayo and Connor were pushing Rivers hard for the #1 spot. But it wouldn't shock me if someone wanted to jump up for him after yesterday. And he absolutely DID come across as a very humble and hard working guy, very driven. And like most of the guys, very articulate. (At USC, it's part of the job to get used to the mic)I liked him. Thanks for listening BTW.
