The Avengers (2 Viewers)

Trailer looks fun as heck, can't wait for this! If it was up to me, the Skrull would be the villains for this film and then Thanos would show up in part 2 with the Avengers recruiting the kid from the new Spiderman movie that comes out next year.
I doubt it happens but that's an excellent idea.
Different studios so it unfortunately won't happen. Sony still owns the Spiderman movie rights, not Marvel. I think the Kree-Skrull war makes the next logical film with the Skrull being introduced in this one. Then Thanos coming in for #3.

There's also going to be more Iron Man, Thor, and Captain America solo films, so plenty of opportunity to lay the foundation for great Avengers stories.
My guess is that we'll see some inclusion or reference to Hank Pym. I'm hoping with the robot story line laid out in Iron Man 2 and Howard Stark's role in creating Captain America's shield... they would tie that all together with Ultron making an appearance. My wishful :nerd: thinking.

Howard Stark's role in Captain America seems, to me, transparently designed to create Cap/Iron Man drama. A heartbroken Peggy Carter marries Stark, a man she doesn't love. We get Tony Stark daddy issues and Cap "this spoiled brat is the result of the life I never got" drama. I'd be genuinely surprised if this isn't a subplot. There was an Ant-Man property in development when they first decided to do Avengers, but they scrapped it.EDIT: I guess a brief clip in Iron Man 2 uses Tony's canonical mother's first name, so my theory is unlikely. Wouldn't put it past them to ignore that, but they seem to have been planning this for a while.

Dang. Well at least I found out early enough to not get my hopes up. :kicksrock:

Ultron would be awesome.

Never was a fan of Thor but after watching the movie, I think Loki as the main villain is a great selection!

I just finished re-watching the entire first season of Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes again. New episodes start in April, which will be a nice lead up to the film.

Greatest cartoon ever.I thought early on hawkeye was the bad guy?Alien race? Skrulls? Krees?Avengers never had that "go to " villain. To me like the cartoon series. The masters of evil would be the way to go.

i thought there was a lot of talk about a Civil War movie, is that not the case anymore? i think that storyline would play out well in a movie, and i don't know if they can keep the costs down enough or hold the audience's attn. for too many Avengers movies

The Civil War is a deeply complicated story line in the Marvel universe containing multiple cross overs. There is no way they could touch it in a single film. The Kree-Skrull war isn't a civil war but it is slightly less complicated and I could see them trying to cram most of it into a single film but I think it would be a mistake.I honestly have no idea where they are going with this film but I have implicit trust in Joss Whedon to deliver a quality product.

Yeah, to do the Civil War right (and I think it would be awesome) Marvel studios would have to own the rights to all of the major properties - Spider-Man, X-Men, Fantastic Four, that are currently held by other studios. Ultron

Masters of Evil

Kree/Skrull

Thanos

That's probably the go to pool. There's lots of talk about Enchantress and Executioner as possible Thor 2 villains.

I'm not a comic book guy at all, but maybe one of you could answer this for me...I assume Loki died when he let go of Thor's hand on the bridge to Asgard. Am I wrong here?

He appears to fall into the closing wormhole after the destruction of the Rainbow Bridge observatory. Thor, Odin and the rest of the Asgardians think he's dead, but he established in an earlier conversation with Heimdall that he knows of other paths between the worlds. He also appears in the after-credits scene of Thor, influencing or possessing Dr. Selvig (Stellen Skarsgard).

I wonder if HBO or Showtime would ever do a series with a super hero team, they could really do it well
Would be way too costly
More costly than game of thrones?
they can barely show any battles cuz of how costly game of thrones is
Rome was cancelled because it was so expensive to produce.Wiki page says a movie was in development but has stalled.

In a February 2008 interview with Movieweb.com, actor Ray Stevenson stated that a Rome film was in development, with Heller working on a script.[28] Heller confirmed in December that there was "talk of doing a movie version," adding that "It's moving along. It's not there until it is there. I would love to round that show off."[27] In an April 2009 interview with AP, Actor Kevin McKidd stated the "Rome" film was "in development", and Lucius Vorenus will likely be a part of it.[29] In March 2010, Entertainment Weekly stated that Heller had completed the script for Morning Light Productions, the film's financiers, and was now awaiting a director and a studio, since HBO Films "won't be involved."[30]. However, in a more recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Heller indicated the project had stalled - "I'm not holding my breath".[31]

Thank you. I do remember him saying that now.

I loved reading Avengers back in the day. The whole Steve Englehart "Mantis-Celestial Madonna" storyline. High hopes for the movie.

Captain America's suit looks a little weird to me. And Hawkeye and Black widow reloading their bow and gun just seems out of place amongst the super heroes.

Agree about Cap's suit but I'll cope. I think it's interesting they went with Hawkeye and Black Widow instead of Hank Pym and Wasp (original Avengers). I think the idea is to have some non-powered heroes under the misguided notion that they are somehow more relatable to the audience.Either way I hope this is as awesome as I hope it is.
