The Dark Knight Rises movie with Batman (spoilers within) (1 Viewer)

I watched this again last night on AMC, which by the way, is a horrible channel to watch movies.  They would show about 3 minutes of the movie and then 2 minutes of commercials at a higher volume.  I do not recommend AMC.

But anyway, at the end of The Dark Knight Rises, Batman has less than 2 minutes to get the bomb out of Gotham City (I think it was actually a minute and thirty something seconds).  The bomb has a 6 mile radius.  He attaches the bomb to the back of his helicopter/airplane thingie and drives it out over the water so it could go kapluey over there and not hurt any Gotham City residents.

How could he have covered 6 miles in time?

If he was going 360 miles per hour, that's 6 miles in a minute.  But he was dragging a heavy ### bomb.

Major plot fail, imo.

The more you know.

I don’t want to quibble but I believe the fact that it was dropped in the bay meant the water would blunt a lot of the force meaning he didn’t have to get as far as if he was dropping it on land. I don’t recall the 6 mile thing. Was it a 6 mile radius or a 6 mile area that’s covered. The latter would mean only 3 miles away minus the minimizing affects of the water.

I think the issue was he only had 10-12 seconds to get miles away, right?
Except that I thought they mentioned they could fly it out over the bay and it would be OK. That said I don’t really care enough to keep discussing it.

Probably an ejector seat. They were blatantly obvious when they said at the end that the autopilot was fixed before he flew the bomb out there.
So he ejected out early enough (before it left the city?) to survive, the autopilot drops the bomb in the water to avoid the 6 mile radius issue, and then the autopilot flew the batwing back home so Fox could check it out?

Not that big a stretch for these kind of movies.

Maybe not most disappointing sequel ever level, but definitely a huge letdown. Had so much hype coming out too.
In hindsight I thought they were all pretty mediocre, but Ledger propped up the second one. Everything about that movie without him was meh imo.

True, for me that title will almost always belong to the Matrix sequels, which were so bad they actually decrease my enjoyment of the amazing original.
They are on the list of movies for me that I pretend don't exist so I can still appreciate the original without it being tarnished. Along with Alien 3 and later, anything past Terminator 2, all Jurassic Park sequels, etc.

Outside of Katie Holmes, I still think Batman Begins is excellent and is a movie I can watch anytime. Would agree that Ledger's performance elevated the 2nd so much that most people overlooked its flaws when it first came out. There's very little in the 3rd one even worth remembering, the story is an absolute mess and contradicts a lot of the messaging and themes from the earlier films.

Why was Bane’s voice so ominous? The sound mixing just made it sound so weird. As if the terrible accent wasn’t bad enough.

That dopey talking-yelling at the top of his lungs while wearing the face smothering monster from Alien and sounding like he had a mouthful of bat guano was ominous?

It is a Bat-Copter. It can go way faster than normal helicopters.

Katie is a so so fit but she's significantly better than Maggie Gylenhall in The Dark Knight, who is probably the worst casting since they had Denise Richards play a Nuclear Physicist in the Bond film.  :bag:

I might need to watch this one again. I honestly don’t remember much of it. Are they streaming on any of the 15 services I pay for?

Hulu currently has it and The Dark Knight. Batman is a Warner Bros property though so I would guess it will eventually move over to HBO Max. ATT owns both HBO and Warner Bros.

I guess it was supposed to be. But I agree, It was just too forced and fake. Dopey is an accurate word to describe it.

This was bad in so many ways.  I can't believe Nolan had a hand in it.  He really mailed it in on this one.
