The Jinx: New HBO True Crime Show (1 Viewer)

Jeanine Pirro has a bit of unintentional comedy with her persona. Her show on the weekends is just her seething, with a lot of finger pointing at the camera. She does have a right to be angry with those Texas lawyers scapegoating her for the gruesome death of Durst's neighbor.

Just finished episode 4. Lol, how do you get off on self defense if you hack up the body? Or better yet, if it were really self defense, who hacks up and dumps the body afterwards. Talk about an incompetent prosecution.

That was bad but they did a great job.

The charge was murder.

They ruled he didn't murder him but acted in self defense.

I don't think it's illegal to hack up a body in Texas

How did the reporters find that letter to Susan that looked exactly like the one written to police and the people investigating the murder didn't?

I don't think they included desecration of a body into the charges, no idea why. Maybe some FBG lawyer can chime in, seems like a series of secondary crimes could have been charged. At least they would have gotten this guy off the street for three or four years.

I got the sense that the Texas law enforcement thought they had such an obvious slam-dunk on the murder charge that it didn't seem worth the effort to tack on any other charge. That's maybe why all these years later, they still seem so utterly stupefied by the acquittal. That poor Galveston cop looks as if a piece of his soul has eaten away.

DeGuerin was one of my law school profs (before all of this), and yes he taught the "he needed killin" defense... this one will go down as his greatest feat though. His act didn't go over well in Austin when he defended Tom Delay and Celeste Beard in two high profile trials

I just blew threw all 5 episodes tonight. Good stuff. Can't wait to see Mrs. Doubtfire's reaction when he's confronted with the letters.

Yeah....episode 5 - was by far the best.

Looking forward to the finale next week.
Yea confronting him with the letter will be interesting.

Hard to see why Durst agreed to do this.

Its so annoying when people - usually cops - say that only guilty people hire lawyers or hiring a lawyer makes you look guilty. That's such horse####. Everyone that is dealing with the cops and could potentially be a suspect should hire a lawyer.
Amen to that. Someone in the episode said, "Why would he hire a lawyer?"

My immediate response (the NSA can verify this) was, "Why would he NOT hire a lawyer?"

Speaking of creepy criminals, does anyone else's skin crawl every time that prosecutor Pirro comes on screen?
I don't know if creepy is the right word, but she strikes me as a Nancy Grace type, who would do anything to advance her career.
I'd hit it without remorse.
Obvious facelift. She looks younger than she did 20 years ago.

Yeah, I would.

Watched the first episode. They got their man.

Is there really any reason to continue watching this?
Not really. The rest of the episodes are just a boring compilation of post-conviction appeals and a tedious review of various issues concerning the Texas prison system. Kind of weird that HBO decided to make a show about it if you ask me.

You must be about the only two not finding this interesting. You want an example of tedious, watch Citizenfour.

You might want to take your sarcasm meter in for a tuneup

Especially since he was found not guilty in Texas

Jeanine Pirro cannot stop talking about this case. For the second straight week she has spent the last half of her show ranting against Durst and his lawyers. She can't get past how they leveraged her against the Texas prosecutors, and got an acquittal. You can almost see the smoke coming out of her ears.

The fact that he was in California and was unaccounted for for days. The identical printing and same misspelling on the letter and note to police. Be enough for me to put him away if I was on the jury.

I'm afraid from the previews that Durst got hip to the letter "ambush" and bailed on the 2nd interview.
No one else shares this concern?

Robert A. Durst, the scion of a New York real estate family, was arrested on Saturday in New Orleans on a warrant from Los Angeles County, according to the police.link

Wow. Once again - what a terrible decision he made to participate with this show.

Egomaniac. Rules don't apply and he can do whatever he wants. Still amazes me that the police couldn't do what a few reporters on a tv show were able to.

I saw that, but not sure how that affects or belies what goes down on tonight's episode.

Jarecki blew it by showing the letters to Bob's attorney. Obviously he knew what was coming in the follow-up interview.

I bet she got moist when she saw those Bs
