Not sure on this. If I recall from last year, one contestant let quite a few seconds go by because they did not realize it was their turn. But they might have changed things. I wondered last year if they contestants ever got the correct answer when they passed. It didn't seem like it last year. But clearly this year they are because a few contestants have had "doh" moments when they see the correct answer. So the screens behind each contestant…
When the duel is going the player only sees an image when it’s their turn (to alert them it’s their guess)? So when it’s not their turn the screen they are looking at is blank?
The one woman that didn’t realize it was her turn made a comment like “I saw the pic over her shoulder and just thought it was her turn, duh’”Not sure on this. Great concept. Horrible execution.I’ve given up on this show. New episode out and I just don’t care.
I watched a couple since I watched it last season and man, the arbitrary matches are annoying. Also, it seems like sometimes one person gets easy ones and others do not.Image of a desk. "Seat" is acceptable answer.
Image of a chicken coop. "Chicken house" is acceptable.
Image of olives. "Olives" is not acceptable, it must be "black olives".
I was disappointed they allowed cross street to count. That wasn't correct and is different as you said it isn't a compound word.Again more arbitrary answers. In the category Compound Words, it shows a cross, and a road. Obviously it's "crossroads", but the lady says "cross street" which ISN'T A COMPOUND WORD!
The other thing that irks me is there are so many times where someone's clock is almost out, but they say the answer with 1 second left, and it doesn't count, the clock hits zero. They're very likely to lose anyway, unless the other person blanks out and their clock hits 0 on the very next turn...but I swear the timer is really only 44 seconds long, not 45.I was disappointed they allowed cross street to count. Figured it was a matter of time before someone pulled the 0-fer on a topic they don't know. That gal that passed on every single question has to be the worst player in any game history
But wasn't she the one that challenged and selected the category? Kinda had it on in the background and wasn't paying close attentionFigured it was a matter of time before someone pulled the 0-fer on a topic they don't know. That gal that passed on every single question has to be the worst player in any game history
Thought it would be something like failed politicians or periodic table though.
Don’t they give $ for having the most squares at the end of each day?The extra 5 seconds for winning three in a row isn't quite working either. There is no advantage to staying up on the podium and risking elimination. The best option is still to hide on the floor and hope you never have to go up there until the end.
Yes. I bet she was thinking "Michael Jackson!" "Duran Duran!" and not "Olivia Rodrig-who now?"But wasn't she the one that challenged and selected the category? Yes but it doesn't compare to winning the big prize. The risk of getting booted doesn't match the reward of just hanging out until the end for the big prize (IMO)Don’t they give $ for having the most squares at the end of each day?The extra 5 seconds for winning three in a row isn't quite working either. Are they actually trivia buffs though? Seems like all reality shows where they cast personalities/demographics and they just claim they’re knowledgeable in one specific area. And many weren’t even good at that.Despite the new wrinkles, it played out the same way as the first season did. Both finalists were people who won 1 to 3 battles early and then sat in or near a corner and waited, safe from the randomizer. One benefited from nobody wanting to battle over the periodic table, which seems like a weird thing for people who are allegedly trivia buffs to be spooked about.
I would say they are not trivia buffs. Just random game show type personality people. Some of the categories are just dumb and filler. Accessories. They just show a bunch of items and its a race to say them as fast as you can and hope you don't get stumped on one or two.Are they actually trivia buffs though? Yep, the best strategy for sure is to get lost early on the board away from everyone and then never have to risk being challenged until the end. $20K for having the most land isn't really a good enough incentive to try and risk being eliminated to go for it. Also, having some scary obscure category seems like another good strategy going in. So many people were afraid of the Periodic Table but really didn't think about what it would actually be like. Obviously the guy knew the symbols but those aren't that hard to study and figure out but nobody wanted to even try. Worked out perfectly for him.Despite the new wrinkles, it played out the same way as the first season did. I posted the below earlier in the thread after completion of season one. Still stand by it..This idea has a potential but there are enough flaws in execution that it becomes boring to some degree. Not sure what to do to change it up.
Did they change up the format any from the last session? It was still missing something to make it a bit more strategic. Unless there is a drastic change the proper strategy is to hide in a corner and not be at risk to go home.Watched this last night after the Super Bowl. Did anyone else catch Brian O'Halloran of Clerks fame as one of the contestants? And his category is convenience store items![]()
I didn't see any changes mentioned from Season 2 format, so looks like 3 consecutive wins = 5 sec time boost is still the only real change from S1.Did they change up the format any from the last session? Well if they do the best of three in the final that was new last season alsoI didn't see any changes mentioned from Season 2 format, so looks like 3 consecutive wins = 5 sec time boost is still the only real change from S1.Did they change up the format any from the last session? very true, that was new last year, and I would guess is still going to happen this year as well.Well if they do the best of three in the final that was new last season alsoI didn't see any changes mentioned from Season 2 format, so looks like 3 consecutive wins = 5 sec time boost is still the only real change from S1.Did they change up the format any from the last session? The Mountains to 'mountains that are in the ocean' - errr, Islands, guy? After watching the first episode I will predict that the guy that one a battle and ended up with trees (I think that was what I remember his category being, but I could be wrong) and then went back to the board.
The guy with the European History category who’s a Jeopardy champion? He’s not just any Jeopardy champion.Watched this last night after the Super Bowl. Did anyone else catch Brian O'Halloran of Clerks fame as one of the contestants? And his category is convenience store items![]()
Being a Jeopardy champion might actually hurt him in this competition. Sometimes I think a 5 yr old would be better off trying to answer the questions. The guy with the European History category who’s a Jeopardy champion? He’s not just any Jeopardy champion.

He’s Dave Madden, who won 19 games in his original run, which for a long time was second-most to Ken Jennings.
Rob: So, are you excited to play the Floor?Ep 2
It's always a treat when a contestant passes and then thinks that means it's not their turn anymore so they sit there waiting for the other person to answer. Then they realize the F-ed up and answer real quickA few people playing in episode 2 completely froze, including at least one who was defending their own category.
It's never been explained on the broadcast. I presume they pick them but I don't know for sure.Dante from Clerks is unfortunately sucking me into this show. How do these people end up getting their initial categories?
I think there has to be a list of topics to choose from because a lot of these quote-unquote experts don't know a damn thing about their categories. It's never been explained on the broadcast.
