I rarely dip into this forum, but I read this article today from Matt Taibbi and thought people here may want to read it.  Big respect for Taibbi - he's one of the guys that really try to get to the truth and is about as balanced it gets.  He did a great job with his investigative work on the 2007 financial crisis.

from your humble servant, Jan 26, 2018:

After a few careers were slapped down this way America's favorite sport, Puritanism, was thawed out to become the blunderbuss by which Oprahnoids everywhere empower themselves and the six companies (that control media) cooperated.

"It’s perfect cultural satire, like a Curb Your Enthusiasm episode showing what ensues when Larry David is put in charge of creating a racial sensitivity exhibit for charity."

I love this!

TL;D finish

I do see the point about the hegemonic messaging around BLM. I personally hate the co-opting if the messages by corporations.  Do something about the inherent racism if the system. Don't just splash a phrase on your website for 2 hours.

He is a snarky, funny dude.

I think all his work learning what caused the financial crisis in 2008 turned his heart dark.

This is a serious article, but Taibbi has it a bit wrong. This hyper-political bureaucratic juice started in the universities in the mid-80s and was always a child of the left. The monoculture becoming conservative in the aughts might be true, but where it really matters, this has always been a left-wing problem.
