If you look at it sideways, it is an "h" and an "f" the initials of the legendary Hawkeye coach Hayden Frye. Its discrete, but it is there.
Born and raised a Hawkeye fan, and i've never heard about the H and the F, I don't see it, but i believe you.
Don't see that at all. I knew the others but not this one.
I don't see it either...
OK, it was explained to me by an old roomate who was an Iowa Hawkeye, so maybe he was full of ####, but I can see it. First it is kinda angled to the right, so imagine it tilted about 25 degrees counter clockwise. The left two yellow peices make up the lower case " h ". The bottom yellow peice and the beak make up the lower case " f ". Does that help? Why else would they make such a weird looking "hawkeye"?
Ok, I can see the h, the f is kind of a stretch, but I see it. Was that Acapulco Gold, or Thai Stick he was smoking when he came up with that? lol

This has turned into a great thread, but getting back to things that are "obvious". I was a teenager before it hit me that the Philadelphia Flyers logo was a "P" with wings and a hockey puck in the middle. I just never thought about it ....

Flyers Logo

This thread reminds me of the times I spent with old Land O' Lakes butter cartons and a small pair of scissors. (Apologies in advance to the Puritan crowd).

On a more appropriate note, the Montreal Canadiens are pretty overt about the "H" in the middle of their logo, which stands for Les Habitants.

F'n Habs. :gang1: <-- wears Toronto colors
Nopers as in my first post, the "H" in the Montreal logo is for "Hockey" and the "C". Club de Hockey Canadien.Quote from This article:

While popular wisdom often claims the ‘H’ stands for Habitantes, the facts prove otherwise. True, the Montreal players use that as a moniker, often shortened to ‘Habs,’ but the history of the logo dates back to 1917, when the NHL played its first season and one of the teams from Montreal (the one not named the Wanderers) officially changed its club name from Club Athletique Canadien to Club de Hockey Canadien.

With that minor change, a new logo was needed. The Montrealers had a template for their new vision, as the old look featured a red ‘C’ with an ‘A’ in the center, to represent the “Athletique” portion of the name. The switch was elementary.
Here's a picture of the Club Athletique jersey: There's an "A" where the C presently goes. And for the heck of it, here's the whole evolution of Canadien jerseys: Right Here

My high school's logo... CSHS in the horse's mane stands for Chatfield Senior High School
Nice logo. Must've used the same marketing firm as WSU. And no, that's not meant negatively, just commenting on the similarity.
Not sure about the same firm.Probably just liked WSUs and went with something similar.

As long as WSU did not copyright the logo style or something and then sue them.

I know the University of Wisconsin has copyrighted the forward W and has sued schools for copying it.

I still don't see it - maybe it is all the cold medicine I am taking. Can someone give me the instruction sheet? The shape of the space between the horns is in the shape of a football. Lobary is making the humorous leap of it being the football on the Lombardy trophy.

I've always thought that UWyoming's logo (not the cowboy on the horse) was pretty clever: link

also - Bronco historians should know this: the new logo was designed by Nike. As a result, the nostril in the Bronco logo is a nike swoosh, and the stripes in the pants can form a Nike swoosh. (see holder)

maybe I'm dense, maybe stating the obvious, but to me it looks like a thought bubble with nothing in it... :lmao: Most excellent thread btw. Thoroughly enjoyed all the examples.

Now for my contribution. This should be miami's logo.. (Supposedly it's a sexuality test... children see dolphins... adults.. well.. we're perverts.)

Props to the OP. I have a 3 year old that amazes me daily.
what dolphins?Ohhh, those dolphins.

Ohhh, those dolphins.

I am concerned about the message that picture is sending. Not a single one of those dolphins have a helmet on.

Cool! Never got that before... but then again I didn't get that "Adam Ant" was a pun until I was almost 30. :bag:

I see it now, thanks for the help. and if you want weird looking "hawkeye" take a look at the logo they tried to move to in the late 90's early 2000's http://www.trademarxwallcoverings.com/images/10069.JPG

I get that all the time.

In the spirit of this thread, the UFL has unveiled it's new logo, and, ummm, it doesn't look like anything else except, errrr, a football being violated by a star?
