The NFC West is very good. (1 Viewer)

The Rams are the most dangeorus as they are in the steep part of the learning/winning curve and should be good in January at home. They would beat the Bears there and would even be favored by a few points in that mathcup.

Wouldn't be surprised if they won, either. Seattle and St. Louis are both respectable at home.
The Giants are looking like a possible wild-card team and they destroyed the Seahawks in Seattle.
Seahawks also beat the Chargers & Bears, Cardinals beat the Saints... any week in the NFL anyone can win.

Well, that was the Charlie Whitehurst experience. Seattle is a flaky team, I could see them getting destroyed again or blowing the Giants out unexpectedly. Though I suppose that's a testament to the Giants' inconsistency as well.

Giants have Michael Clayton now so expect great things.

IMO Rams/Seahawks will be flexed as the Sunday night game week 17, looks to be the only game that will have major playoff implications.

The Rams are getting better each week. Maybe I should have said Bradford is getting better each week. They have beat Washington, SD and Denver, in Denver. If they get a home playoff game, they have a good chance of winning it. They are a couple defensive players and a #1 WR away from being a very good team. I think this is the year they can lure better f/a to St.Louis.

Not only are they 6-7, but they're both getting absolutely crushed.

It's sickening that one of these teams will make the playoffs.

St Louis isnt that bad

Seattle is bad, they dont deserve 6 wins but playing without 2 of their top wrs doesnt help.

SF is prolly the best here.

Ari...well they are playing denver LOL..who are putrid now.

yea this is pathetic...its possible a 11 win team won't make the playoffs

what's really sick is that they'll be in over one of the Eagles, Packers, Giants or Bears. Of course the Pack losing to the Lions makes it somewhat less sickening.

And Seattle picked apart the bears in Chicago...I think in a year or two they'll be like the NFCS with 3 good teams and a scrub. All of them are in their infancy with new coaches, GMs etc and will improve greatly next season after new QBs make their way in. I understand the frustration against it, but it would kill division rivalries to change the system. It keeps people spending money at games and, more importantly, time in front of the tube watching commercials when two 7-8 teams meet in week 17.

No way the 49ers beat the Rams in St.Louis in week 16. That will end the 49ers season. The Rams should win their final 3 and finish 9-7. 2 home games against KC and SF, then a road game in Seattle who the Rams dominated at home earlier.

SF has a chance to steal this now.
@SD + @St.L = probably not
They've got the easiest route of the 3 teams, but they are a game behind. Seattle will be lucky to just not get blown out by Atl and TB going into the Rams game. The Rams have KC next week.Sucks to be one of the outliers while a team with a worse record gets in, but if that team wins their playoff game then it's hard to argue that they don't belong there. The NFCW has been pretty good the last 6 years or so winning 1st round games. IIRC, Rams in 04, Seattle 05-07, AZ 08...eta: Rams were WC in 04 I believe and beat division winner Seattle for the 3rd time that season.

:thumbup:Could be DAL-PHI or NO-TB, but I'd bet on CHI-GB in Green Bay.
If Rodgers is out they might fall 2 back of the bears. It's totally possible that STL-SEA could be the flex if it's the only game guaranteed to have something on the line playoff-wise. If the other games can be made irrelevant by the afternoon games they probably won't go for them. They actually might sell the oddity of the situation plus the Bradford angle.-QG

in any given week, any team can beat any team. What a team does throughout the year means a lot more than any one matchup. You're assuming any of these teams (except the Rams) are successful in bringing in a new QB or developing someone they have but hasn't shown much yet.

I don't have a problem with the system, it's just that I expect one out of 4 teams to look respectable.

This Rams homer is already wrong about the team winning the last three...

Why would any of the fans of this suck division be talking smack?
Who's talking smack? I'm just eager to finally make the playoffs. From there we only need to win a game or four!

:bag: Oh well, that game was actually meaningless. The Rams have to win the next two to win the division. Seems pretty do-able.
Good luck  As an NFL fan, I'd rather see Bradford than either Turd Smith or Hasselback in the playoffs...but as a Niner fan :scared:

I just want this season to end, Singletary fired, a real FO, and a new starting QB without the last name of Smith.

If(when) the Seahawks lose to at Tampa, the 9ers will be in control of their playoff fate. Not bad for a 5-9 team.

After playing with the yahoo playoff generator, I come up with the 12-4 Saints at the 7-9 Seahawks in the first round.

Of course you want a bye and a home game, but as a Wild Card team, the Saints can't be unhappy with a game at the NFC West champion. Meanwhile, the other Wild Card team is looking at a January trip to either Philly or Chicago - depending on who ends up dropping to the #3 seed.

I don't care what y'all think, I'm looking forward to a STL vs SF with playoff implications on the line. SEA will lose to TB on the road...... so win win, we in
