Any word on where Youkilis will drop in the batting order when Crisp returns?
Either 7 or 8
I think 7 or 8 would be a mistake as hot as he's been. If they want Crisp back in the leadoff spot, why not 5 or 6?
Manny/Ortiz do not always clear the bases, many times they walk, single, double. You want a power threat behind them to make pitchers challenge them, which is where you have your Trots / Lowells of the game. Youks will fill the Mueller spot of old, reloading some people on base for the top of the order
2 games with Crisp back, Youkilis has batted cleanup once (Crisp ledoff & Manny DNP) and last night with Manny back he returned to the leadoff spot (Crisp batted 8th). I don't think Youkilis will see anything lower than the 6th spot the rest of the year. GoSox.

I was watching the game on NESN with my dad last night. You know that new soccer commercial with the Spanish speaking little kids, and they are choosing up sides with guys who appear to be professional soccer players?

My dad: "What is going on here? Is this some kind of drug deal?"

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

I don't mind Crisp down there at the 8 or 9 hole. He's got some speed and can jump start the end of the lineup a bit. I'd rather Crisp down there than Youkilis.

Vernon Wells...

:lmao:

:lmao:

:lmao:
Good info there :hophead: I remember someone posting here how Vernon Wells was the most overated OF in the majors. The poster was pretty much ridiculed at the time and I was expecting to see that thread bumped last night or this morning. Can anyone find it. Apparently my search function skills suxor.

Sox hitting shut down all night, but Youks comes up big

Add another save for Wild Thing

2 Ks, 1 groundout

Top 3RD B:1 S:1 O:2

Jason Varitek singles on a line drive to right fielder Magglio Ordonez. David Ortiz to 3rd. Trot Nixon to 2nd.

Top 3RD B:3 S:2 O:3

J. T. Snow flies out to left fielder Craig Monroe.

Anyone agree/disagree?

I agree. Speed or no speed, I'd rather keep KY at the leadoff spot. Crisp has speed, but he's no Vince Coleman or anything. I'd rather have Youk's OBP up there than Crisp's speed.

:goodposting: That was awesome.

had a hunch, called my bro in fla who doesn't have extra innings when papi came to the plate and held the cell up to my stereo speakers. Needless to say we went ape####.

:banned: to the greatest clutch hitter in the game today doing what he does best.

Interesting enough, there is only one pitcher who has had a better ERA (obv a min of innings pitched here), some dude from 81 got his ERA down to 0.20. Papelbon needs another 9 innings of scoreless ball to get there

I'd be surprised if he gets there but it would be really damn cool  This run is just flat out sick...

papelbon era down to 0.25...another save
B.J. Ryan's numbers are just as sick...
BJ Ryan makes about 9 million more than Papelbon.
 That and Papelbon is still topping ryan's accomplishments. Papelbon has allowed one lousy run all year.... ryan has allowed two. Both are unreal but one set of numbers are from a highly paid established closer, the other are from some kid from Mississippi state who's thrown fewer than 100 Major league innings.

Again.. Papelbon WILL end up allowing more runs this year... duh. It's just nice to enjoy the ride while he's untouchable.

"Holy Trinitiy" Update:

Papelbon - 23 saves - 0.25 ERA - 35K in 32 IP

Lester - 2-0 - 2.76 - 19K in 16IP

And then theres....

Hansen - 10.12 ERA with 2K in 2.2IP :X

Overall:

I find it hysterical that beating your wife is a $200 fine in Boston. Of course, they must still rake in millions from it, but that's not the point.

Still gets me everytime an idiot from Bahston tells a NYer to stay classy. That's like a Philly fan telling me it's wrong to taunt and harass an opposing team. Good posting

Why does this team have so much success when I am far, far away from New England?

A: Win the World Series while studying abroad in London

B: 7-game winning streak while in Illinois

And now they're down 2-0 in the first with Schilling on the mound...

:D I'm not too worried about a 2 run lead in Fenway with the way the Sox have been swinging the bat

:lmao: @ Ortiz hitting a grounder through the right side of the infield when the phillies have 3 guys right of second base

Damn Youk is good..... steals 2nd and scores on a single by loretta

Lowell pops one as well

IBB to Ortiz to face a Red Hot Manny who hit 2HR and 5RBI yesterday?

What can we attribute this winning streak to? I think alot of it has to do with the NL East sucking. The Yanks and Sox are good solid teams in the AL but if they were in the NL theyd win 110 games each. I havent watched any Sox games but what can we credit the Sox doing to help in this win streak?
