The OFFICIAL 2006 Boston Red Sox Thread (1 Viewer)

TONIGHT

Pitching matchup

BOS: RHP Curt Schilling (13-4, 3.84 ERA)

On Sunday night against the Angels, Schilling suffered his worst outing of the season. He allowed six runs and 10 hits over five innings, including three home runs in a disastrous third inning. He recovered to pitch two shutout innings afterwards, but the damage was already done

TB: RHP James Shields (4-5, 5.43 ERA)

Shields held the Yankees to four runs in seven innings Sunday, but picked up his fifth loss of the season. The rookie right-hander pitched well save for two solo home runs to Johnny Damon that were the difference in the 4-2 Rays loss. Shields allowed five earned runs and took the loss in his only start against the Red Sox on July 6 at Tropicana Field.

Player to watch

Manny Ramirez is riding a 19-game hitting streak, one shy of his career high.

 to Javy.......Mirabelli still suxors
Belli is great at snagging Wake's freakish knuckler and that's it. I couldn't have stomached watching him get 4 at bats every day for 6 weeks. :X
OK, I'll give him that, but he can't hit sand falling off a camel.

He had a few big hits a couple years ago but for the most part I couldn't agree more

Still one back......
:loco: And 3 days ago the yanks were one game back. What's your point? They ending the season early this year? :confused:There sure are a lot of Yankees fans in a Red Sox thread

Nice rip by Travis Lee off Timlin... 6-5.

Papelbon to come in for a 5-out save with 1 out in the 8th

Interesting struggles by Timlin... 2HR all of last year... 5HR so far this year.

Good game so far. Just glad to see them playing teams like the Sox and Yanks tight.

Wish they'd get to move to the NL. :(

Like ya couldn't see this one coming.... F'n tavarez Great series Rays... as usual you guys take 2 of 3 in your house. Solid young squad

ESPN just said the Rays have won 9 out of 13 against the Sox.I did not know that.
Rays got the Sox number this year :yes:Not quite as bad as they had the Yankees Number last year.... but they're doing well vs the 'beasts of the east"

The Sox have major problems. They have been pretty average for the last month and I think its going to get ugly for them soon. If I had any confidence at all in the pitching staff, I'd still be optimistic, but I don't. I honestly don't think they are going to even make the playoffs.
