The Official Kicker (K) Thread (2 Viewers)

It is funny to see all the complaining/commenting on this as back in the day kickers missed FGs much more often.

-QG

Sticking with McManus next 2 weeks.

Q: who do like Week 7 & beyond?

Brown (dropped today - can't get him until next week)

Catanzaro - trending

Gano - bye this week

I do believe the kicker to get coming out of the bye break will be Connor Barth. TB was leading the league in FGAs before they signed him, but Brindza (with the exception of course of the Saints game) couldn't hit anything. Barth is a pro (Herman used to talk him up) and he nailed all 3 attempts yesterday.

Josh Brown has been great and his bye week isn't until Week 11.
Our league member in Kuwait (soldier) dropped him last week to pick Barnidge. I was all set to part with Sproles to pick him up, but then I realized I can just swap out Ks.

I was planning on dropping a rostered guy to cover McManus' bye. But is it really worth carrying two kickers? I have a bunch of time share guys I don't want to let go of (Spiller, both Duke and 5-Touch David Johnson, AA.) Dropped players take a week to clear waivers, and Gano is out there as well (dropped for a bye cover last week.)

I could drop McManus and pick up Gano. Since his week 1 explosion, McManus has 40 points. In the first four weeks, Gano had 39 points. Nobody will be able to pick up the Denver K until next week when they're on a bye. I won't be able to put in a claim but after waivers clear I might get him back if I wanted him.

I think given the option of two stud Ks or one solid K who is past his bye - and keeping a PPR RB who might have value later - makes more sense.

F'ing kickers. If I get Gano I probably put him in and never think about my K again this year.

That's a very good call. Barth was the guy that saved the Broncos last year after the Prater/McManus mess. Then lost out to McManus this year in training camp. Barth's always been a pro though, and had some good years on some very bad Bucs teams.

Their 15 FGA leads the NFL through 5 weeks. Plus you'll get him after his buy if you pick him up next week.

In the meantime, Brown, Gould, and Catanzarro are guys I'm trying to lock down in all my leagues, if available.

How bout Lambo? Was trusted to attempt a 60 yards missed but had the distance. Chargers have good offense and bad defense so high scoring games. Good weather so rarely a factor....

I'm guilty of chasing the points on Santos.

Thinking maybe they will be kicking a decent amount of FGs going forward with the Charles injury though.

So when I dropped Vinatieri (yes) it was with the idea that the Colts would be stuck in neutral with Luck and just get worse with him out, but the offense has actually been better with Hasselbeck and Vin is back to his high scoring ways - 11-12 last two weeks.

I'm only rolling him this week because Lambo @ Lambeau is just too fun to say.

I'm almost to the point where I would rather get a kicker in round 13 or so, to ensure I get one of the top 2-3 guys.

On that note, I was lucky enough to get Gostkowski after an owner dropped him for the bye.

I promptly sent Hauschka to the wire.

How Hauschka can sit on the wire in a 12 man league is ridiculous.

GB is not a good matchup for him so I dropped him for Folk this week. However, Lambo has impressed me. Strong accurate leg and he's got a pretty cake schedule coming up so I'll try to get him back.

McManus is such a stud this year

Missed for the first time (from 51) but Manning is such a terrible QB he's going to continue to get a ton of opportunities

I'm covering his bye next week - can't remember the last time I didn't just flat drop my K, but he's worth it

Dropped for catanzaro for bye and also because they called for high winds. Wish I could have bench room to have held him

Yeah Im either taking the 0 or dropping Abdullah for a K

Yeah, I held McManus...dropped A. Bradshaw to get Lambo for bye. I think I'll be able to get Bradshaw back if need be; but league is not ppr, so less concerned.

Added Barth this morning in my main leagues, dropping Gould.

Yeah Im either taking the 0 or dropping Abdullah for a K

And I thought I was crazy just for thinking about dropping AA for DGB. Hate having that guy rotting on my bench.

Having McManus vs playing kicker roulette can mean an extra 6-9 points in any given game.

Stir his looks like he could be pretty good, problem is that MNF game was pretty frustrating. Sturgis must have lost 3 FG opportunities from turnovers.

Which K would you rather own for the rest of the season?

Gould - Bad weather in CHI makes me want to stay away

Gano - Offense starting to click; has been pretty consistent

Barth - Back with TB; up and down offense scares me a bit

Forbath - At least he is kicking in a dome

Thoughts?

Easy one is Gano. Warm weather, good O but not great so chances

Even though Gould has so much against him except ability, I go for him

Than Barth but TB o can be bad as they play from behind which leads to lower FG attempts

Forbath cannot be played in any league that rewards yardage. He cant kick past 45 and knowing Payton, he wont last this season. Best place to kick though

Tampa Bay as of now one of the leading teams in field goal attempts

Tampa has 18 FGAs on the season in 6 games... the problem is, before Barth no one could make them consistently. For the year they have only made 12 FGs.

Their pace of 3 per game leads the league. Denver is 2nd with 17 FGAs through 6 games. The Chiefs have 19 FGAs, but have played 7 games to date. Fire up Barth everywhere until you're given reason not to...

Barth is a definite hold. He has a big leg too. He's 6/6 on FGAs and 6/6 on XPAs. I had thought I would struggle with going back to Gould but I don't think I will even bother at this point. If you can match a solid kicker with a top 3 defense you can shoot or hope for 20-25 points every week on top of the skill position players everyone spends so much time trying to hit on.

And now that Winston seems to be playing better, Martin and Sims moving the ball, Evans a stud on offense...why not Barth? Warm weather at home. Looks like a pretty decent schedule. Accuracy not too bad. How's his leg strength for 55 yarders?
