The Official Kicker (K) Thread (2 Viewers)

Anyone have thoughts on Barth? He's been either adequate or ballistic despite his mediocre team. I'm afraid of picking him up and TB getting blown out weeks 14-16...
He missed a 46 yarder, all I ask for is FGAs, I don't expect they make every one, but with that it would have been a 10 point day, which is fine, and he made a 50+ yarder.

The Saints, Rams and Bears per FFToday are allowing the 4th, 7th and 6th most FFPA to kickers.

Good to know. Im not sure i want to ride McManus. Things are different in Den. Im seriously going to consider Barth.

Didn't think about the weather but Gould is usually automatic and the Bears struggle in the RZ. Only other good Kicker available was Cardinals Kicker and them not struggling in the RZ would concern me

Gould looks good on paper too. But I started him against SD and he missed 2 FG, Cutler was strip sacked in FG range, and on another occasion CHI got a 15 yard penalty on 3rd down which pushed them out of FG range. So a potential 15 point game turned into 2 [/nobodycares]

I've been rolling with him for weeks, regardless of how low his projection is. This seems to be a case of the prognosticators being several weeks behind the times.

Doing the same and agree

Curious about Tucker? Ravens out of contention, might be playing backups, and going for it more? I wonder if teams with bad records kick less FG's or if it's all just luck.

This is literally it, guys. Go here: http://espn.go.com/nfl/statistics/team/_/stat/kicking/sort/fieldGoalAttempts

There's a lot of ways for us as fantasy players to assign narratives to the data and what we're seeing on the field. Santos has a big game, we then fit the narrative to his success -- Alex Smith is conservative in the red zone, offense continually stalls out, Santos gets a ton of FGs. It does occur sometimes, but consider this. The Chiefs have 26 FGAs across their 9 games. 13 of those came in 2 games; 17 of those came in 3 games. Can any of you predict which games get 7 FGAs? Can you more accurately predict those than the 4 games the Chiefs have had with 1 FGA or less?

Tampa has the most FGAs in the league. Barth has a big leg and has been fairly accurate. Fit whatever narrative you want to their offense, but the fact remains that Tampa is averaging over 3 FGAs per week with only one week having zero attempts. Only 2 weeks of their 9 games have 5 FGAs. That's the type of consistency you're hunting for... Tampa's attempting multiple FGs (usually 3 or more) nearly every week of the season, and they've got a kicker with a big leg.

ETA - Evidently this cut off... What I was saying is that I can't believe some of you guys are leaving Barth sitting on the wire. It's the most consistent kicking situation in the league.

Can't believe
Santos is done with the NFC North. Only made 3 FG's in the 4 games. Just an interesting note

Send me your resume, please. I'll forward to the VP of Sales.

Just saw that Barth was dropped for Bailey in my start 2 PK (and 2 QB) league. Dropped

Crosby for him. I am now rolling with Walsh and Barth.

Prater seems like a good play this week and the rest of the way.
Hard to trust him, he's coming off a game where he missed two extra points.Between that and Caldwell coaching for his job, could see them being more aggressive and going for it on 4th downs more often.

I picked him up too. It's a perfect storm - good defense so Reid is content to settle for FG and Smith is sooooo afraid of turnovers that he never forces things in the red zone.
Santos missed the first XP of the day - lol... I can't do anything right with kickers this year.
Blair Walsh and Hauschka have both missed an xp today. Santos miss was a little longer due to a 10 yard penalty

Don't know if you are watching the game. There was a penalty after he made it. Turned it into like 43 yarder. Hardly a chip shot.

I had to laugh, this is from one of those silly automated CBS power ranking posts:

Coming into this week, [Team Me] had won every game when Connor Barth overperformed his expectations, and that's still the case after he scored 9 points in a victory over [Team Other Guy].

What's not to like about Josh Brown? He gets the #2 PK rank going forward and is !00% on the year going 23 for 23. Weather in NY?

Dropped McManus for Gano this week :moneybag:

Dropped Tucker because I think his opportunities severely decrease without Flacco (and to a lesser extent Forsett) for Barth. Of course I tried to pick up Gano but got outbid by $1, $2 to $1. A little peeved by that but I like how the TB offense is looking and Barth nonetheless.

Dropped tucker since I thought Balt would suck. Pick him back up? Was going to grab Myers but then I see tenn allows fewest points for kickers? Is that a thing or is it just happenstance?

Myers also has some sort of back injury. Not sure if there's anything to it, but something to consider.

Thoughts on Mike Nugent? He's ranked in the top 10 on FBG. On ESPN, Mike Clay ranks him 3rd overall, Kockroft 17th, and the other 3 rankers don't even have him ranked.

Thoughts on Chris Boswell?

He seems to be ranked really low everywhere, but here's his points in games he's played in:

6

15

7

4

11

10

10

So more games in double digits than under, and a pretty high floor so far. I've got Barth in there now but I don't feel great about it. All the "experts" have them both ranked pretty low, especially Barth.

Why is Barth rated "low" and by which "experts"??

He's the third highest scoring kicker per game in my Leagues.

Outperformed his projection 5 of 7 weeks. OTOH his last 3 he has scored 6, 9, 5 in our format.

I would think the correlation is low (compared to other positions) for FFPA but Atlanta does give up the 3rd fewest points to kickers. Good matchups for the playoffs, and no cold weather sites ROS.

Considering dropping Brown for catanzaro for the run through the playoffs? Does it even make a difference? I know this is an Assistant Coach thread type question, just interested to hear thoughts on the comparison.
