The Official Kicker (K) Thread (2 Viewers)

How can the Chargers go 2 weeks without a kicker? I can understand if a kicker is suddenly injured during gameday warmups, but they've known about Badgley's issues for 2 weeks now.
Dependable kickers aren't just floating around the league. They're no longer that expendable. You wait on injuries to them if you've got a good one. I think that's the best explanation Look at the Jets last week, and Cleveland and Chicago, etc., ad nauseum almost. It's a tough job now. We've seen the ceiling given the current rules, it seems.

Vinatieri’s retirement should be announced by Adam Schefter during next week’s home game, not in a press conference he calls tomorrow.

This is not in hindsight -- I did not realize that LAC were using a punter. [scooter] is/was right, and was right at the time. I was unaware they weren't using a roster spot for a true kicker.

That's just unwise, and it cost them a win.

After this weeks, Charger kicking fiasco, is it safe to assume Badgley will be back kicking week 3 ? Guess we will find out mid-week or sooner, if the Chargers sign someone to kick.

Coach Frank Reich confirmed to reporters Monday that K Adam Vinatieri will continue to work as the team's place kicker for their Week 3 matchup against the Falcons.

Vinatieri has made just 2-of-5 extra points and 1-of-3 field goals through two weeks. He seemed to hint at retirement after the Colts' Week 2 win over the Titans, but it appears he'll give it another go.

I guess I am too -- not much else you can do as schedule overall is favorable.

It's not like he missed any, and I have to believe ATL doesn't have a game where they are solely going for 2s all the time.

But if he looks shaky or ATL continues to struggle on O against Philly and can't get him into position, bye bye.
How about now? I was encouraged by the 50 yarder but then misses. I can live with that normally. However, the general lack of attempts and really inconsistent offense are making me wonder about Slye, Gonzalez, Rosas of the world. All on offenses that move the ball but don't cash in often.

Great question. For me, still a hold. Ryan looked terrible in Game one but came back with OK stats, and was able to move chains despite the lack of rush support.

Not faulting Bryant for the miss as it was a 50 yarder -- he made the other 49 yarder. The team is getting in position for the XPs so at least they are scoring.

At this point, Slye may indeed have better upside, but Bryant still has a good dome schedule and a later bye.

Really tempted to claim Slye myself. But also wonder if Cam continues to ail/struggle, does Slye's opportunities go down?

The Colts worked out free agent kickers on Tuesday.

Elliott Fry, Cody Parkey, Younghoe Koo, Greg Joseph, Cole Hedlund and Chase McLaughlin all made their way to Indianapolis. Adam Vinatieri has said he is not retiring and plans to kick Week 3, but the Colts want to have their emergency list ready to go in case Vinatieri is once again shaky in Week 3.

Chargers K Mike Badgley (groin) was limited at practice Wednesday.

Badgley was also limited at practice last week when the Chargers declared him inactive for Week 2. The Chargers left points on the board against the Lions because of their special teams (what's new?), so they need a healthy Badgley as soon as possible. At the moment, Badgley is best viewed as questionable for Week 3.

I'm a hypocrite, I totally caved and dropped Bryant for Slye to go with the upside. No one claimed him on the wire, but a couple of guys had some bottom barrel kickers -- Slye is the #1 kicker in the league, and felt someone was going to snag him before the weekend started.

Is Slye a must-start at this point? I got Lutz in the rain this week 😬

😄😄😄 I'm about to do the same. I can't help but think Bryant will make us pay for lacking faith but whatever, it's a friggin kicker. Guys in my league will drop studs for byes so all will not be lost.

ETA: I think Cam's backup actually helps the kicking opps too. Could be a find ROS.

Dropped for Lutz for Maher this week.  Partly due to Brees, but mostly due to dome vs rain.
I picked up Maher because of the insane projections and the way Dallas is just going to have their way and I'm hoping for incidental field goals. I also have Butker, so that's a no-brainer.

Yep...same here. Lutz may get more chances (as the season progresses) with the Bridgwater-led offense possible stalling more...but not worth it this week with Lutz...both outdoors, and in the rain. Maher it is,

Slye might drop a bit with Cam now looking like he won't start.  Not that Cam has played well, but still should hurt some.
I was thinking just this -- that picking up Slye for the kicker on an offense that can reliably get into range may backfire.

Counting on CMC and the Panthers D for field position is a reason to continue to lean on Slye. Not sure how reliable those expectations will be.

Any updates on Badgley ? Have to believe the Chargers would sign someone by Friday if he can't go again this weekend. They can't let Long lose ANOTHER game for them this week....can they ???

Love the kickers thread for some reason!

Debating between keeping Slye (concerns about Cam and the offense) or picking up Badgley (if he's back), Gonzalez or Tampa's kicker. Decisions, decisions.

Picked up Zane Gonzalez and dropped Aldrick Rosas (so many injuries + bad D Giants can't move the ball at all). Arizona doing a good job of moving the ball from 20 to 20, TURRIBLE in the Red Zone and the coach is a coward.

Chargers K Mike Badgley (groin) is questionable for the team's Week 3 matchup against the Texans.

Badgley is tentatively expected to suit up after practicing in full on Thursday and Friday. P Ty Long will continue to kick (likely poorly) if Badgley remains sidelined.

Kickers have the second most success in all NFL stadiums in Seattle.  First is Atlanta.   I picked up Lutz because the Seahawks secondary sucks so I think NO will move the ball but stall a few times.  Light rain, no wind.   It's not an issue.

Also, Maher vs MIA = EP's galore or FG's - DAL may not have to punt at all

Hauschka vs the Bengals is a good matchup. Especially if you get bonus pts for long FGs. I'm on the Josh Allen hype train for his first start at home.

Lutz, Crosby, Bailey dropped in my league. Are any of them a must pickup for yearly long leagues?   I typically stream.
Wait until after this week.   Historically the kickers with the most points after week 3 will be in the top scorers for the season.   There's always a FA out there that nobody thinks about, but three games is usually enough to establish who is going to be kicking a lot of FGs.

Bears K Eddy Pineiro (knee) is questionable for Week 3 against the Redskins.

Pineiro suffered a minor knee injury in the weight room earlier, but he was able to kick during Saturday's practice. Coach Matt Nagy said, "I really do think it’ll be OK." The Bears do have a game on Monday Night Football, so if you want to play it extra safe for fantasy, it would be best to find a Sunday replacement if there are capable kickers on the waiver wire.

Chargers downgraded K Mike Badgley (groin) to doubtful.

The Chargers are currently set to use their punter to kick field goals once again. That decision arguably cost the Bolts a win last week, but it's completely #OnBrand. Badgley should be viewed as questionable for Week 4.

Ty Long kicking for the Chargers AGAIN.

At this point I am convinced that this whole charade is nothing more than an elaborate prank and that "Mike Badgley" isn't even a real person.

:thekickerwasplayedbyMikeBadgley:

I think they stole a kicker from TB and installed him in their punter's body.

How else to explain Tampa's new kicker missing two XPs?  The name on the jersey changes every year, but "Tampa Kicker" haunts the stadium time after time...

Still scratching my head on what to do with Slye.

He had a quiet day even though the team didn't miss a beat with Kyle Allen -- actually saved from a poor day by kicking a late game FG to net 8, which I guess I can't complain about.

Guess he's a hold for now?
