**The Official Randall 'touchdown robber' Cobber Bandwagon** (1 Viewer)

About a decade ago, there were rumors about a star receiver that had struggled the past couple years on a team with a HOF QB being a surprise pre-season release. He not only wasn't cut but had 183 yards and a score in week 1, on his way to 1493 yards and 23 TDs.

Are the stars aligning for a reprise?

Randall Cobb is not a star WR.  Even at his best, he was not close to what Randy Moss was.

Besides, Cobb has clearly lost a step. Moss' struggles were because he didn't give a crap and didn't give full effort.

Do you have a source Dr. Dan? Or at least tell us you have some sort of secret source within the organization. Otherwise I will take it as just wild speculation on your part based on twitter rumors.

I've seen you post pretty much the same thing regarding WR Davis. I would think that on cut-down day all teams are working the phones regarding all players on different teams. Or is there more to this?

Just what I'm hearing from a friend within the packers. hes not deep within. might not be much more than a phone call to see what the price is. just thought I'd share.

New England showing interest in Randall Cobb trade
This would be great news for Cobb.  He is still very good when healthy--that's been his problem lately. You don't need to be a superstar either to be valuable in fantasy in NE.

I think it would be terrible news as a Cobb owner.  They won’t just plug him in and feed him a ton of targets.  He has to learn the system first.  By the time he does, if he even does, Edelman is back.  Then who knows what happens next year.

I’m just hoping he stays with the Packers as I am relying on him as my wr3 this year unfortunately.

He was a huge part of the second half game plan of short quick passes.  As long as Rodgers is hobbled...Cobb will be relevant in that passing game.

Randall Cobb caught 9-of-10 passes for 142 yards and the game-sealing touchdown in Sunday night's Week 1 win over Chicago.

Cobb was peppered with targets on a night the Packers were forced to play from behind. He cut through the entire Chicago secondary on a highlight 75-yard touchdown with just over two minutes to give Green Bay the win. It's encouraging usage after Cobb was shopped this preseason. Cobb's role is secure as the top checkdown option in the Packers' offense, but he'll have a more difficult matchup against the Vikings in Week 2.

Love Randall Cobb giving his game ball to his newborn son and posting the photo.  Who knows, maybe fatherhood will get him rededicated and on the road to greater success.

One of my favorite thread titles.

Interesting how some information (misinformation?) led to such a fall in value.

When asked about Randall Cobb's (hamstring) availability for Week 4 against the Bills, coach Mike McCarthy said, "We'll see."

"It's unfortunate, but we'll see how it goes," McCarthy continued. Cobb injured his hamstring in practice on Thursday and seems like a legitimate question mark. The Packers will have a walkthrough on Saturday where we might have a better idea of Cobb's game status for Sunday.

Randall Cobb (questionable, hamstring) was held out of Saturday's practice.

Saturday practices are more than just walkthroughs for the Packers, so this is notable. Green Bay didn't downgrade Cobb but it's a bad sign for his Week 4 status. Cobb sitting would open snaps for Combine star Marquez Valdes-Scantling in three-wide sets.

Randall Cobb (hamstring) admitted Monday he was not close to playing in the Packers' Week 4 win over Buffalo.

This suggests he may also be a long shot to return for Week 5 at Detroit. "As much as I would've wanted to, I couldn't be out there running at full speed," Cobb acknowledged. With Cobb sidelined, the Packers turned to rookie Marquez Valdes-Scantling at slot receiver between Davante Adams and Geronimo Allison. Allison suffered a concussion and is also questionable for Week 5.

Coach Mike McCarthy said he'll give WRs Randall Cobb (hamstring) and Geronimo Allison (hamstring) "right up until Monday's pre-game workouts" before declaring their statuses.

McCarthy is reportedly "leaving the door open" for both to play, but it's not a certainty either will be ready by Monday night. If both are out, rookies Marquez Valdes-Scantling (7/68/1 Sunday) and Equanimeous St. Brown (3/89) will again be thrusted into full-time roles, with MVS entering the conversation as a strong WR3. If just Allison is out, it's possible St. Brown is used more given Valdes-Scantling's recent 67% slot rate the past two weeks (which Cobb would return and shore up on his own). Either way, both need be monitored prior to inactives being pushed out Monday night.

ESPN's Lisa Salters reports Randall Cobb (hamstring) is expected to be inactive for Monday's game against the 49ers.

With Geronimo Allison also expected to sit, it means Marquez Valdes-Scantling, Equanimeous St. Brown and J'Mon Moore will once again back up Davante Adams. This will be Cobb's third-straight absence. He was playing poorly before going down. The Pack are on bye for Week 7. We would assume Cobb will finally be ready to return against the Rams in Week 8.

Randall Cobb (questionable, hamstring) is expected to play in Week 8 against the Rams.

Cobb isn't 100 percent but showed enough in practice to return coming off the Packers' bye. With Geronimo Allison also back, Green Bay's offense will be at full strength for a projected shootout with the Rams. We wouldn't trust Cobb as more than a WR4 this week.

Oct 28 - 8:38 AM

Randall Cobb (hamstring) is active for Week 8 against the Rams.

Cobb is active for the first time since Week 3, when he had an awful game in Washington. He is returning for what should be a shootout with the Rams' struggling defense. Cobb can be plugged back in as a WR4. Inactive for the Packers are QB Tim Boyle, CB Bashaud Breeland, CB Tony Brown, LB Korey Toomer, OG Justin McCray, G/T Alex Light and WR J'Mon Moore.

NFL Network's Michael Silver doesn't expect the Packers to re-sign free agent WR Randall Cobb.

The Packers have used late-round draft capital to re-stock their wide receiver depth in recent years, and it's forced Cobb out of the mix, especially since he hasn't played as well since stockpiling injuries. Aaron Rodgers could still use another wide receiver behind Davante Adams, but Cobb is no longer an upgrade over the younger, cheaper receivers in Green Bay. He'll try to rebound on another team after averaging 43.7 yards over his last 37 games.

The Athletic's Jay Glazer reports the Patriots tried to trade for then-Packers WR Randall Cobb ahead of last year's deadline.

It's notable because the Pats have a huge need at receiver and Cobb is now a free agent. Greatly diminished from his peak, Cobb is a mid-range option amongst this year's class. His underneath game would certainly fit New England's system.

I love Randall...but thats disappointing that the Packers didn't get something for him if they weren't going to keep him.

Cowboys signed WR Randall Cobb, formerly of the Packers, to a one-year, $5 million contract.

Cobb should immediately slide in as Cole Beasley's replacement in the slot. Cobb is the bigger name, but Beasley has arguably been the better player over the past few seasons. Often struggling with injury, Cobb's yardage high-water mark over the past three years is 653. Even when healthy, he has looked nothing like the dynamic playmaker he was early in his career. This is basically a "hold serve" move from an offense that could still use another weapon or two. Cobb does not figure to be much of a fantasy option in the Cowboys' conservative passing attack.

Star-Telegram's Clarence Hill Jr. believes Randall Cobb and Dak Prescott "have formed a fast connection."

Prescott loves having a former quarterback as his slot receiver, and the duo has made strides working together this offseason. Clarence Hill believes Cobb will be a "huge addition" for the Cowboys, but there are questions if Cobb can stay healthy and if he will see enough volume to be a fantasy contributor with Ezekiel Elliott and Amari Cooper dominating touches.

Cobb is available in some dynasty leagues, he may surprise on the upside. Worthy of a stash to see if he can make some noise during the pre season.

Decent game Sunday. 3rd in the DAL WR group assuming Gallup continues to perform. Still, Cowboys offense was opened up, and Beasley I believe had some good games in the slot there for Dak, anyone buying?

10 truths from the Cowboys' win: Randall Cobb is a more dynamic player than Cole Beasley, Dak Prescott impresses and more

Excerpt:

Former receiver Cole Beasley is a good dude with a great story, who has made a really nice career as an undrafted free agent. Randall Cobb, who essentially replaced him as the third receiver, is a more dynamic player and it showed Sunday. He caught four passes for 69 yards, including a 25-yard touchdown. In seven seasons and 103 games, Beasley never averaged as much as 17.7 yards on four catches.

Randall Cobb (questionable, back) is expected to play Week 7 against the Eagles.

Cobb sat out last week's game with a bad back but it appears he'll be on hand for Sunday night's divisional tilt against Philly. The former Packer has operated as the Cowboys' primary slot receiver this year, though that role has not led to much fantasy significance. Cobb has averaged a sluggish 35.3 yards over the life of his current four-game touchdown drought.

Randall Cobb caught 4-of-7 targets for 115 yards and a touchdown in the Cowboys' Week 11 win over the Lions.

Cobb dropped two easy passes, but otherwise proved to be elusive after the catch while demonstrating sure hands in tight coverage. Cobb doesn't have more than eight targets in a game this season, although he's now posted 6-35-0, 6-106-1 and 4-115-1 lines in three games since the Cowboys’ Week 8 bye. Treat him as an upside WR4 in next week’s brutal spot against the Patriots.

Randall Cobb caught 4-of-7 targets for 86 yards in the Cowboys' Week 12 loss to the Patriots.

Cobb saw plenty of slot CB Jonathan Jones throughout the afternoon. The Cowboys’ No. 3 WR managed to win several of his one-on-one battles, notably getting loose for 59 yards on a deep crosser midway through the fourth quarter. Still, drops and inaccurate throws alike largely sunk the passing game. Cobb has provided legit upside WR2 fantasy value in recent weeks with Dak Prescott spreading the ball around evenly among his WRs, so fantasy owners shouldn’t feel too bad about this middling production in a brutal matchup. Fire up Cobb as an upside WR3 on Thanksgiving Day against the Bills with stud CB Tre’Davious White expected to shadow Amari Cooper.

Hopefully gonna snipe him off wire this week.  Not sure I’d be brave enough to start him, but with Cooper hobbled and on lock down recently, Cobber poses pretty good WR3 floor with upside.  I’d rather him go off on my bench than opponent’s starting lineup
