How do you see this epic game playing out? And more specifically, what kind of stat lines for the fantasy relevant players if you wanna call them that?

Brilliant title by the way.

SJax, KSmith, Avery, Megatron (If he goes) will have big days. The Defenses are very giving on both teams. Heck Bulger might even be worth starting this game.

The Defenses are very giving on both teams.
From a fantasy perspective, the Lions' defense has had some good moments this season. They've scored TDs in two games and sacked Aaron Rodgers five times in another game. They've had three games with three sacks or more. The Rams give up a little more than two sacks per game and give up one turnover per game. If you're in dire straits for a defense this week, the Lions might not be a bad reach pick.

Rams will show that they are just slightly less putrid than the Lions. 130/2TDs for SJax.

Thankful I have nobody on either team.

When the season started both teams circled this one on the schedule and said "Here's one we can win." It might be the Toilet Bowl for regular fans but for the professionals I'd bet they're playing their heart out. Unfortunately, their heart can't make up for a severe lack of talent. I bet it will be more entertaining than advertised because the players are fighting for pride - and a spot on any NFL roster next year.

Bulger 180, 2 TD

SJax 85 yards rush, 50 receiving and 1 TD

Avery 60 yards

McMichael 50 yards and 1 TD

Stafford 220, 1 TD

Smith 120 rush, 1 TD

Calvin 80 yards, 1 TD

Miscellaneous castoff receivers look like superstars to combine for the rest of the passing yards.

Lions 23-20

St. Louis takes the early lead in the Tim Tebow sweepstakes. <---edited to include necessary smiley.

Guaranteeing at least 3 more years of putridity.

Yuck.Out of the QB's coming out, I like Jake Locker out of Washington the best.
I think you can rest easy. Jake Locker and Jimmy Clausen will be the top rated passers of the draft.
Not as high on Clausen, mainly due to my bias against ND quarterbacks.Locker wins with less, he's big, he's got a good arm......what's not to like?

Pretty sure I read that thread title in a Yahoo FF article by Brad Evans (or someone of that ilk) a few weeks ago...

Both the feature backs should have big days. I know the Lions doubled (or was it tripled) their blitz package this week, should be interesting. I was surprised to realize how little Bulger has turned the ball over or been sacked this year - albeit they are awful at scoring TDs, but he sucks less than I thought he did. Not sure what to make of Stafford this week; good week of practice, and it is def a good matchup, but still, he hasn't played in 3 weeks.

What's the latest on Calvin? Seems like he did less on Friday than earlier in the week...tough call (and year) for Megatron owners.

I think Danny Amendola is a nice sneaky play in a PPR league if you are looking for a plug n play. Obvs he is gold in return yardage leagues (top 5 in all-purpose yards even though he was unemployed Week 1), but if you play in that style league he was rostered long ago.

I wish I could watch this game as its one of six I had pegged as winnable for the loveable Leos.

I'm going with the Rams, they aren't as bad as most think.

They were taking it to the Vikings in the 1st half before continually imploding with turnovers.

Either way, I think it will be an entertaining game and worth watching.

:blackdot:

2 weeks ago I wss driving to church in Jacksonville and the bus taking the Rams to the stadium crossed my path. 7 years of bad luck.

As a long time Saints fan, I'm a connoisseur of bad football.

I might watch this game, could be..... decent.

The Lions can't stop anyone, so maybe they get to play what looks like defense.

The Rams can't move the ball, so maybe they get to play what looks like offense.

I think the Lions win this, like 24-14. 2 TD passes for Bulger, to Avery and SJax. Good day for Kevin Smith and Detroit's defense and ST do well. (Disclaimer: Pure hokum hunch because I have no idea what will really happen (I've gladly not watched either team at all this year (Edit: scratch that, I saw the whole Lions/Saints game earlier this year)).

Does anyone recall that the Lions before last week actually had a decent game against Pittsburgh at home (where this game is), were beating both the Vikes at half and were tied with the Bears 21-21 at half? ----> I don't think the Rams have shown signs of life like that all year.

He's Pac-10 and suffers from east coast bias.

GREAT thread title! Made me laugh out loud. +1

--Jackson gets his first TD (perhaps even 2)

--Bulger actually brings a semi-decent spot-start for bye week

--Donnie Avery gets a TD

On the Detroit side of things:

--Kevin Smith has a decent game

--Dennis Northcutt gets a load of receptions

Lions aren't nearly as bad as last year. That said, pretty important that CJ plays, huge difference when he is in the lineup. If he can go and is close to healthy, I think the Lions will win.

I haven't seen any Rams games this year, but:Looking at the box scores the only game the Rams were competitive in was the Jags game. Even still the Rams scored ONE (1) TD on offense, and were only in it because the Jags missed a PAT and because Leonard Little got a TD off an INT.They were losing to the Vikes 17-3 at half.

I feel bad for anyone that has to watch that mess tomorrow. :goodposting:
I'm not sure who will be seeing it... its locally blacked out (10,000+ short of a sellout) and I can't imagine any national network picking it up for regional coverage.However--I agree with paper lions... DET isn't nearly as bad as last year.. infact they are much improved on offense... with Stafford and Calvin they should easily win this one. Not saying STL won't score and SJAX won't post really nice numbers--but DET has too much talent on offense not to win. (not even being sarcastic with the last part). If CJ is out--it will be close... hopefully DET knows to load up Kevin Smith if CJ can't go. I agree this emoticon is needed for any post about this game :goodposting:

I don't, I'm blacked out. :football:
Yep, I'm going try and find a live stream. I have a computer hooked up to my HDTV, and found a really good stream for the Lions only win.If Calvin and/or Stafford aggravate their injuries and don't play the entire game, I say Rams win. The Lions without those two are worse than the Rams, equal to the Browns, and still better than the Bucs.

The stoppable force meets the moveable object...

St. Louis Rams @ Detroit Lions

:lmao:

Hey ThunderDragon,

I just wanted to say....what a GREAT thread title

Hey, two more games in the Toilet Bowl Championship Series playing out later this year:Wk 11: DET vs CLE

Wk 14: StL at TEN

We'll get to put your rankings to the test.

In my area I get most of the Rams and Chiefs games and let me tell ya, it's a true test of a fan of the sport!! The term "equally inferior" comes to mind. Pro football in it's crudest form. I expect today's game to follow that trend.

Most of the games have reminded me of the bloopers or follies programs on the NFLN.

"Horribly delicious" is all I can say. Like watching a train wreck happen, you know it's a horrible thing and you feel sorry for those involved but you JUST CAN'T TAKE YOUR EYES OFF OF IT!!

They've definitely had some bad stretches of football this year, and the box scores reflect a lot of that. But they were moving the ball very effectively and consistently downfield against the Vikings the entire first half. Each time it was a turnover that stopped them - at least 2 TOs in the redzone, maybe it was 3. The Vikes scored off one of the TOs.The 2nd half was all Vikings, but the first half opened my eyes to the potential the Rams have on offense... if they can just stop shooting themselves in the foot.I still think the Rams win today. And I still think it will be a good game too... it should be competitive with a fair amount of scoring.

Sadly, I need Bulger to put up some numbers in this. I'm in a 2QB league and he's all I've got. Drinking heavily today I might add.

The Lions are far better on both sides of the ball. Kevin Smith goes for 130 and 2 TDs and this one's over by halftime.
