The Strain -- New Show on FX Sunday nights (1 Viewer)

First season was terrible, shows like this dont get better.
With quality like this from A230385 it certainly can't get better: Love, you see, is the one force that cannot be explained, that cannot be broken down to a chemical process. It is the beacon that guides us back home when no one is there, and the light that illuminates our loss.

I liked the first season. Looking forward to the second. Although I wouldn't have minded if they wrapped it all up in one. It probably would have been better.

I liked it except the part where it escaped during broad daylight at the end. If you aren't going to play by the rules why play.

I will not watch it. Season 1 was enough. It had promise but there was just too much stupidity for me to take.

I liked it as well. Surprised no comments in here. It's definitely a summer show that I watch because nothing else is on, not because it is spectacular. I enjoyed the premiere and they explain your concern a bit. He didn't escape unharmed. It seems like it will be an interesting season.

Show still sucks but I'm in for the long haul in case it somehow gets better.

pretty much my thoughts as well. Thought the old lady's story was helpful.

Watched the first episode of the new season. Fun, cheesy horror...I'm still in.

But wow, there are a lot of commercials. I was timing it towards the end and it was consistently 6 minutes of show then 5 minutes of commercials, 6 minutes of show then 5 minutes of commercials.

I like these types of shows, grab a beer - pee - grab a beer - pee.

Thank god for dvr's. No way I would sit through this show without it.

Agree, don't know how anybody can watch TV like with ad breaks this anymore. Show's OK, I'm still watching. Finding very little TV that interests me right now, and something has to fill the gap.

It was scheduled for 92 minutes, the episode was about 58 minutes long.

I think you could take my car before you take DVR tech away from me.

I just can't go back...NO WAY.

i'm trying with this show again. it is funny because it has good potential, and there is really nothing else to watch. but it is crazy how they also screw it up so much. a show like this could be so easy to make, and they have to try and please everybody. i literally try and fast forward every scene with the main guy and his bratty son or the chick he cheated on his wife with. it's like that show "Falling Skies" for me. would be a great show if they could get the main protagonists out of the way. i hate when history teachers or lab-heads become Rambo out of nowhere and we have to constantly see them

Can someone explain to me the state of the City?

I mean, it was on the brink of ruin, right?

These things are out there, all over the place...and people are still having charity party events, cops are walking the beat and they're still allowing people into the city?

Worse yet, they replaced the kid actor and the new one is even worse than the old one, which you would think would be tough to do.

The kid is the most annoying character on TV, please put him out his misery.

Renewed for season 3:

http://www.ew.com/article/2015/08/07/strain-season-3

FX made several big announcements Friday, including a key series renewal: Vampire thriller The Strain will get a third season.

Here’s the rundown:

— The Strain is coming back for a third season next summer, with current producers Guillermo del Toro and Carlton Cuse on board. The vampire drama is based on a series of three books, and doing at least three season has been the goal of the producers. One question, give that the show’s performance hasn’t been all that strong, is whether next season might be the last one. More clarity possible later today from FX’s The Strain panel at TCA.

it's pretty awful. I was still DVR'ing it and watching it later, but the last episode I:

- fast forwarded scenes with the doctor, his snotty kid, or his semi-hot partner/friend

- fast forwarded scenes with the dirty blonde girl and the "Russian" guy...even though I have liked him in other shows/movies

- fast forwarded scenes with the old guy who was sick but then drank some vampire juice and is healthy again

- watched scenes with Walder Frey

- watched scenes with vampire-hunting gangbanger with a heart of gold

the whole thing is just dumb. there are hordes of bloodsucking vampires with 6 foot fanged tentacles roaming the streets, but hey, the buses are still running!

it's probably time to just take it off the DVR.

It really is so silly how life is going on around all the chaos. People sitting in that restaurant..at night! So bad. And the zombie mom looking for her kid. smh

I'm not sure if I'll keep watching with a 3rd season announced.

eta: and yes, I've been fast forwarding through most of that too.

I guess people have just dropped this series? It should be getting as much love (criticism) as the FTWD IMO: They set up base camp in Redhook, complete with barricades, fence, watch tower, equipment, trailers and the UV lights----ooooooops forgot the generator.

I'm still watching but ffs they need to make some progress on the story line. It's been such a slow and painful process this year to progress the story.

Yeah, but all the lesbian, bi-sexual possible threesome sex is worth it, amiright?

I think it's gotten better over the past few episodes. I still do fast forward on occasion, but not as often as before.

I'm still watching but I'm usually playing on my phone while it's on.

IDK, I kind of like it. Just about every character is a POS but the vamps are so dark and dirty that I still root for the heroes. Plus I dig the old dude's young chick.

I have the hardest time getting over how they slay a vampire and show obvious 'blood/liquid/worms' spraying everywhere, however after a thousand messy kills not one of them has gotten a drop/worm on them yet.

Yeah they seem to just drop or ignore details they spent a long time on in the 1st season.

Its soooo bad. It could really use some Sons of Anarchy level commentary here though.

"honey, I'm going out, be back in a little while. I know 4 of our neighbors got eaten by monsters, but there's a sale at Pottery Barn."

still waiting...
Yep. We all groaned a little after watching last night and realizing it wasn't the last episode of the season. Whenever we're about to give up on the show I belt out the Fet line from the power plant: DRAW HER THAT WAY! And then we remember why we carry on.

Favorite line from a review: Will Zach ever not tilt his head to one side while making a ##### off face?

This show is terribad. One thing that bugged me, three ancient creatures have only managed to accumulate 325M is thousands of years. Also. Nora dead? #### you. We had one shot to get rid of whiney kid and instead you kill Nora and make the kid a focal point.

And I will still watch. Damn you DVR

Feeble old professor and drunk doc can put a hurting on Eichorst a few weeks ago but super bad ### ninja gladiator vampire like dude who can kill a mortal in a blink of an eye can't lay a hand on him.

Well, this show can lick my taint now.

The killed off Nora. Because reasons.
Yeah that was terrible. The whole thing is off the rails really.

The kid has seen his Mom kill how many people including Nora, try to kill his Dad and all the people protecting him. So of course he just heads off with her.
