The Trent Richardson Thread (4 Viewers)

He didn't want to do, try, learn, play or even practice at special teams, even if it means missing the biggest game of his life and the Super Bowl.

This thread has made 100 pages since the trade last year, I don't think it makes 110 because his career will be over before that can happen.

might be true -- stuff like that happens

the guy's ####### terrible at what he does but I don't have anything against him personally -- hope his family's ok.

i would bet money this thread hits 200 pages, and I woudnt even clog it up with posts myself.

My daughter is telling me someone on twitter is saying his Mom died. Sorry I don't have anything to validate it, could be bs?

Just talk to Trent Richardson mothers she is ok so everybody relax
Is this real?

No disrespect to her if she is actually ill, but if she is totally fine, we've got ourselves a T'eo 2.0
Why? Did TRich say it was about his mom? Probably just some tweet from a fisherman and he caught a bunch of people with it.
Not sure if he said it or not but that's what's being said. He just said a family emergency that he is in the hospital for.

If it is true, my heart goes out to him and his family.

If it is not true, then the Colts are just trying to maintain any modicum of trade value left.

The guy really has been an epic bust. The fact that he hasn't been good is surprising. The fact that he hasn't even achieved Cedric Benson like mediocrity is the real stunner. Makes me wonder if there's something more to it than pure football. Like he might have substance abuse, work ethic, or mental problems.

When you go back and watch his old Bama clips, he looks awesome. Something has gone very wrong since then, and I don't believe it's just a question of a dominant OL making him look good in college. He had a lot of talent and showed more vision and speed than we've ever seen from him in the NFL.

Better athleticism and vision, so clone invasion?

No idea on the substance abuse or mental problems, but the work ethic issue is probable (though that could be related to one or both of the substance abuse or mental problems).

However, when a guy doesn't cut it in the NFL I have a hard time jumping to the conclusion that he has a mental problem. I imagine 99% of us on this board don't have the mental makeup to do what it takes to be a successful NFL player (and I dont mean being smart, cause most of these guys are NOT smart), no matter our talent. It has to be one of the hardest jobs in the world to actually be good at.

Yea it's surprising that he could be this bad and I've also wondered if there was something else at play and thought was even more prevalent for me after he got suspended.

Maybe if we can find out what he got suspended for it will shed some light on it because I don't think you get deactivated and suspended two games for missing a Saturday walk through, there is more going on than just that.

Has there been a worse player with a 100 page thread here before?
Has there been a greater fall from perceived talent than this?
Depends on how we are framing that discussion.

If we are talking about perceived talent entering the league I'd say the list would be pretty lenghty. Plenty of high first round busts.

Opinions differ on how good of an NFL player he was in year with the Browns but he was absolutely a good fantasy player that year. So if I look at this in terms of a player entering the league with high expectations, having a big fantasy season early in their careers and than just falling apart for reasons not related to career altering type injury the only guy popping up in my head is another ex-Brown, Braylon Edwards.

Rotoworld:

Trent Richardson - RB - Colts

Former agent Joel Corry confirms Trent Richardson's suspension voids the guarantees on his $3.18M 2015 base salary.

Richardson was suspended during the playoffs for conduct detrimental to the team. He'll likely file a grievance through the NFLPA, but if the suspension stands then the Colts can dump their inept running back without paying him the final year of his guaranteed rookie contract. It would be a tiny silver lining for the franchise, who gave the Browns a first-round pick to acquire Richardson early in the 2013 season. He's been outperformed badly by players named Boom Herron and Zurlon Tipton.

He is as good as gone if the grievance doesn't work and the suspension stands.

Yeah, not sure on this, unless their thought is that with Luck any RB should do well (as evidenced with Brown, Bradshaw, Ballard and Herron) and that they are disappointed that he didn't improve TRich. You could say he did well and that TRich was a lost cause or you could say he had a great situation and didn't do anything especially getting TRich to improve. I'm almost leaning towards the latter and that he should probably be fired. I don't think he was responsible for the other guys success, but likely shares some of the blame to not be able to help TRich improve at all.

Unless I miss my guess, this will be the five thousandth reply to this thread. Which works out to 1.7 posts per career yard T-Rich has gained in the NFL.

It's time to celebrate! :toilet: :toilet: :toilet:
